If Three Gorges Dam breaks, Shanghai is kill. Its their biggest city. Estimates are 400,00,000 dead, most farms wiped out, many factories destroyed, numerous military assets in the area lost and 3 nuclear reactors flooded to Fukushima levels but worse. Civil war and famine are likely as well as mass migration and fucked radiation levels messing with several south east asian countries fishing in the regional waters the Yangtze flows into. China already has 2 swine flues killing pig colonies, a bird flu killing chickens and ducks, a rice shortage, a pork shortage, and CCP grain stores got busted as being rotten and moldy. CCP is asking fruit farms to convert to rice and grain farms which farmers are resisting as they make no money, its cheaper for china to import it usually. So CCP is now sending police to seize farms. They are subsidizing the rest who willingly convert.

This is just the tip of the chinese doomsday iceberg. Chinese people are very superstitious and it makes things worse. CCP already blew up a dam, and a few dykes have broke. Wuhan is flooded, and so is Chongqing, these are huge cities.

CURRENTLY FLOODED:
121 CITIES
39M+ PEOPLE
27/31 provinces affected

Monsoon season in China ends in September and all this week is rain in the region and flood rain season ends in August. Several dam warning flood levels have been triggered.

in a normal economy we'd see investors put more money into metals on concerns about rising corporate taxes and oversight.

this isn't going to be a normal election though. If metals are going to move or the markets crash it will happen well before the end of year and probably before November.

Even today, teslas stuff is really better then gas vehicles in every way except initial cost to buy, but that is coming down.

Small pullback very possible due to parabolic rise in our charts. We've formed a cup formation so likely a handle will be the next and last buying opportunity in the sector. I;m guessing maybe a second liquidation event will cause a small selloff, to what level is unknown but it's my most likely scenario as I see it. Possibly towards election time as there is massive uncertainty, and as well covid news flooding the market. Around this time though, the Treasury General Account intends to flood the market with 800 Billion in stimulus, although how is unknown. Extremely bullish for PMs. I'm not selling shit though, I have leverage and a bit of cash ready for an event like that.

Who put it very nicely. Dilution happens to every community as it grows in popularity, and its happening now. Generalists who love to speak their mind but haven't done the work or understand fundamentals. like the quality in /smg/. eg the silver FUDers who have no clue what they're talking about, but like to pick teams like they pick cryptos. There are actual legitimate criticisms to silver, but all they can say is
>muh gsr

Also people pumping overpriced or run of the mill equities, getting emotional at criticisms to the equities, although in the space the worst companies seem to have been driven bankrupt.

Very high grade and will begin production soon, Aka Jeff Clark's "Sweet Spot" for buying. With these silver prices I'm betting on this company to find funding soon.

Endeavor has been kicking ass, looks like it'll continue as well.

Alexco as well up 20% today, great company to get jurisdictional diversification away from Mexico who've shaken down First Majestic recently for tax money. Broke out today.

you would need to be approved for an options account by etrade.

etf's are fine to hold long term, it's leveraged etf's that decay over time.

really, miners are already leveraged to the price of metals, so leveraged etf's and options strike me as unnecessary...one regular pullback and you could get pounded.

>> No.20541680

>>20541602
You can buy options on etrade (probably). Give it a quick google. You don't want to hold leveraged ETFs like TQQQ long term, but standard ETFs that just track the price of certain things, like SPY with the S&P 500 and SLV with Silver, are fine. SLV is essentially a fund that owns a massive hoard of physical silver; as such, the value of the fund tracks the price of silver very accurately.

*ahem*

Precious metal and their respective stocks are the biggest bubble on the planet. The price has gone way further than the inherent value of the metal for any useful applications and it's been hoarded for decades, creating a stockpile that will greatly lower the price if they ever start trying to sell it. The idea that a fucking piece of metal could possibly have use as a currency will die off with the baby boomers and the price of precious metal should drop to a reasonable value.

In before a bunch of people cope posting and talking about it's use during an apocalyptic type situation. Guess what, if that ever happens people will trade useful objects and not stupid bricks of metal. Metal has less inherent value than any other commodity because it doesn't have any real use outside of industrial applications.

Was going to re-write my post to qualify the statement about buying metals. I meant to say "get a core position in metals" or something like that, because I still don't think that people should be going all-in. But the situation is very troubling, and has caused me immediately to purchase more physical bullion myself.

That's a die crack, not too unusual since the mints that make these rounds tend to prioritize quantity over quality.
If you're worried it's fake, take it to a dealer to test it. You should really invest in a magnet and scale though.

I think it's true. In essence wouldn't gov of Canada (and thusly the royals) be taking control of that transfer? depends on how rabbit-hole you want to get with this. I mean, DOJ couldn't touch them, right?

Honestly it feels like it's a shuffling up between the five eyes, partly for show. The bullion still stays in the anglo-sphere which is ultimatley what's important going forward in the geopolitical shitstorm that's brewing.

Fuck idk man.

But with the physical still in North America, you could be primed to counter a Russo-Chinese Gold-backed currency roll-out with a silver one in the West. Still clinging to that theory.

Tbh i dont know why humanity values gold and silver that much. He's right, it's really just a piece of metal in the end.

But why the fuck would I bet against all of human history lmao. The trend is your friend, unless there's a reason between 2011 and now that changes the argument I'm gonna go with the bet that's worked for 10000 years. Weak fud.

>Tbh i dont know why humanity values gold and silver that much.
scarcity, difficulty to obtain, difficulty to refine, beauty, obvious show of wealth

it's a lot cheaper and easier for westerners to get now than it was a thousand years ago, but it's still relatively rare and costly. It can't be in a bubble though if everyone measures their currency against it. When that happens only the currency could be devalued, not the metal overvalued. But I suppose that's the same thing. I doubt anyone is going to successfully argue that the value of the dollar should be rising quickly right now though. Neither should gold be falling.

Bro, paper, crypto, coins, bonds, even shells. There all bs if we place no value on them, do you really think anyone here thinks that any form of money has value outside of being money? If anything, that's what makes PMs more valuable then other forms of money, aside from the fact that the history supports them, the fact that they also have other uses means they can never go to 0, can you say the say about paper or crypto?

That is a fallacy argument. All cultures once had plenty of the items they worshiped and traded with that are now near worthless. Some technology needing precious metal doesn't mean it has any value as a secondary currency. It's not even a useful currency, not compared to something that can be sent instantaneously like Bitcoin and doesn't have any weight.
>>20542854
Fiat currency is at least backed by the government and is able to be controlled. In a well functioning monetary system, I know that my money is unlikely to be heavily inflated. If gold actually got used as a currency, it would be absurdly volatile. The market would be flooded with all the gold in reserves and if the price was still high, gold mining would devalue until it reached around the current price and it was no longer that profitable to mine. Why would you buy gold before that happened if you weren't just someone trying to make money off of it?

You can kind of do a quick test to see if the suspect coin is silver. Measure the diameter and thickness of the coin in millimeters to get the volume of the coin. Multiple the volume of the coin by the density to get the expected mass. It should be approximately 31.1 grams.

So, for a diameter D and a thickness T, you would compute the volume as follows:

V = π * [(D / 2) ^ 2] * T cubic millimeters

The density of silver is 10.49 g/cc so your expected mass should be:

m = V * 10.49 g/cc * [(1 cm / 10 mm) ^ 3]
m = π * [(D / 2) ^ 2] * T * 10.49 g/cc * [(1 cm / 10 mm) ^ 3]

Where the last term converts your cubic millimeters into cubic centimeters. As I said above, m should equal about 31.1 grams. If it's too far off and you're sure your computations are correct, then you've got a problem round.
