If you're a zoomer you have to be the kind that can appreciate retro stuff for what it is, what it did for gaming at the time and try to put yourself in the shoes of someone experiencing an experience like that for the first time. Like how apparently watching the first Star Wars in the theaters back in the day was a magical experience. If you're comparing it to today's standards, obviously some mechanics are outdated but with that said it still holds up very well to this day for creating an immersive world filled with a certain type of charm and atmosphere that you can't really get anywhere else. It really makes you feel like you're going on a grand adventure.

I was 16 when it came out and I never had an N64. Wasn't until I owned a Wii that I ever played it. By that time I didn't appreciate it and didn't like playing it. Too nostalgic for 2D Zelda or too spoiled by Twilight Princess.

I want to go back, being 10 years old, renting the game for a week every few months, trying to figure out how to get the first sword, and the puzzles in the first dungeon in the big tree. It blew my mind when I figured out you had to jump from the top to break through the webs in the middle. Then eventually working through the dungeons and puzzles and becoming adult link, what a beautiful journey this game was.

When this game first came out by best friend got it the day it was released and uninvited me from sleeping over his house so he could play alone.

I loved this game. There was a video game magazine that I had, and there was half a page on it abotu Banjo tooie. I got so excited, and would read the same article every day in the car for weeks/ months whatever.

One day was out with a friend and his dad fishing, and my dad picked me up. It was a miserable day, raining etc. He just said I got something for you and handed me it. I was in absolute shock and so so happy. One of the purest joyous moments ever. Just for him to check out the magazine and stuff when he was clearly super busy and had so many responsibilities.

He died a few months ago suddenly from a heart attack despite being super fit and having no other conidtions. Hug your dad anons if you still have him. I'd give my whole LINK stack away just to speak to him again. Fucksake I'm crying now.

Breath of the Wild was garbage compared to OoT. If you haven't played it, it still beats any game this generation. The only one which comes close is Hitman, in terms of actual gameplay. All other games now are just interactive movies.

Like a lot of N64 titles, SM64, Golden Eye, Zelda, Smash, etc... they maybe haven't aged perfectly, but represent new frontiers in the industry. Hard to say if you'll like it. At the time it would blow you away. That being said there are many game that are not as good as just the menu windows and first 30 seconds of this game.
