There all excellent companies well situated in their respective regions, operating profitable mines or exploring with solid plans for the future. The only company I didnt recognize is Euro Sun Mining operating in Romania, I really need to look at the non North American projects more often. Pretium and Skeena are my favorites out of the bunch as there in my old stomping grounds of the Golden Triangle, I ve been reading really good things on McEwen Mining as well in recent threads and online.

I have many ghost stories from the old mining towns of BC and the Yukon, and yes holy shit do Cougar calls sound horrible, you hit that nail on the head.
One of the oddest and most troubling events of my wanderings near Barkerville was last year. I was wandering around near the headwaters of summit Creek, looking for old workings following some maps from the 1870s, when I heard a blood curdling scream, and someone call for help. I imediatly had my gun out and running towards the screams thinking someone was being mauled by a bear or something, but when I got near the screams, they suddenly started coming from somewhere behind me. I looked around that area for hours calling out for anyone to answer. No response. I even had a group of guys help me from the Thistle pit come help look, we found no sign of a struggle or anything. No missing people either.

> Throughout my life, I’ve tried different types of exercise. I spent 12 years doing full-contact MMA fighting, including competing in tournaments and spending 10+ hours a week in hardcore training. In college, I started going to the gym a lot, with a focus on powerlifting and compound exercises. I could do 80 push-ups, 20 pull-ups, bench press 1.5x my bodyweight, and deadlift over 2x my bodyweight.

So this bitch is a tranny right?
She's gotta be.
She's said some smart things about the USD and finance, and she writes a lot, but I need to know, is it a tranny or what? It's too damn distracting not to know.

a 30-06 is a perfectly good bush gun but there are dozens of options out there. A short barrel 12 gauge is never a bad option either. might ask the guys over at /k/ for more advice on that. Gotcha, gotcha. Yeah, my thinking was along the same lines desu. I would get a 45-70, but I'm trying to stick to three calibers, maybe 4 if I get wind up with an AR at some point, and 45-70 just isn't one of them. I might look around for one of these things in 30-06 if I can find it, I really like the locking mechanism on it.

Drew Stegman gives the case for Euro Sun in this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IG3lX324zO8

It has the second-largest gold deposit in Europe, and, since 2018, has got the approval of the Romanian government for its project. Departures Capital also talks about it here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRe44xQgaLk

The stock looks extremely cheap. Only 17% above its February high, and still 24% below its May peak.

[@Konik] @Skookie , i agree , but most of the development stage projects, trade around 0.35-0.45 X NPV . $ESM has an NPV OF 550 million US (assuming 1750$ gold and 2.6 copper) and trades at less than 0.1 X NPV .So even if gold stays here its a 4 bagger easy . Anything more than 1750 gold provides real torque to the NPV. 30 Jun 2020, 18:07

Wallbridge Mining is cheap right now. Recently had a 30% pull-back from its May peak; everybody should be looking at it. Eric Sprott heavily invested. A number of investors expecting a $4-5 billion dollar buyout within 24 months.

"I mean, all you have to do is look at this picture. That little speck called Fenelon, has 10's of millions of ounces alone. It's mind-blowing the potential here. If WM plays their cards right, and up until now they have, you could just sit on this investment and watch it multiply for years."

We also talked about Spanish Mountain Gold in the last thread. Bought it on Thursday; went up 30% on Friday, and I intend to keep holding. Highly incompetent management team, which caused it to be overlooked for a long time, but, after Don Durrett wrote an article about their gold in the ground, and Eric Sprott got involved shortly thereafter, the stock is soaring. It is highly speculative, but the time to get in, if ever, is now. People think that it may become the next FVL and go 34x.

https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:i5DWtsETqVEJ:https://seekingalpha.com/article/4358465-spanish-mountain-gold-exciting-gold-development-story+&cd=6&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk

"As we know, Eric Sprott had bought into SPA. I am hopeful that he will buy more. Eric Sprott has continued to mention the New Ounces In the Ground Paradigm for weeks now. Its forward looking based on a number of factors, the most important being the ascending POG in a super strong Bull Market. $60 an ounce in the ground, in Eric Sprott's reasoning, is way too cheap, especially considering the huge profitability that miners are making. ES says that $100 to $150 an ounce in the ground is what the value should be. Another factor is the size of the projects. There are actually very few large projects over 2 million ounces in the world, and many of them are in very bad neighborhoods. Using Sprott's reasoning and using a revamped number of 5 million oz (earlier PEA had 7 Mill Oz) and giving no value to the Phoenix Zone which has huge potential, 5 mill oz x $100 an ounce = $500 mill value on a Buy Out. At the present MC of $85 mill, the potential is a 6 bagger from here. Using Sprott's $150 an ounce were talking 10 bagger. Remember, Eric Sprott is forward looking. That's why he's a Billionaire."

"We could be headed to record volume today. SPA has been unknown and off the radar for a long time. Then Jordan Roy-Byrne caught wind of it. And Don Durrett put up that excellent article on Seeking Alpha. And now Eric Sprott is also a shareholder. And when ES gets on board, the word gets out. And ES in it for some serious dough $$$. See what his Buy In and recommendation of FVL did for that jr. FVL went from 8 cents on May 5 to $1.50 2 months later. It is not unusual for ES to get his initial slice and then to keep on buying. There is a reason that the Volume is seriously UP. If you are new here, and you want in, buying today is going to be a lot cheaper that after the word gets out on Sprott Money on Friday. At $1800 Gold, SPA has an NPV of $960 Million and an IRR of 40% with an aisc of $549. And right now, the M/C is only $60 million. No doubt Eric Sprott thinks that there's a lot of upside." 16 Jul 2020, 19:02

>/pmg/ seems to be slowing down lately.
The difficulty with these threads is that they are focused on precious metals and there's not a lot to be said about investing in PMs because they're highly fungible and investing is relatively straightforward. Once everything is said, there's nothing else to do but acquire and wait.

I would imagine things are slow right now because we've had a fairly strong run-up and people are shy about buying more at the current price. Meanwhile, the price has not gone up high enough for people to consider or even talk about selling. So unless the price starts skyrocketing or plummetting, these threads are going to get slower and slower.

One thing that could generate a lot of postings--likely of very low quality--is discussion of mining stocks. If we could get exceptional analysis of mining stocks (understanding geological reports, drill results, as well as typical financials), we would likely all make quite a bit money. That's an extremely rare skill set and all of the professional analysts I've read are no better than a monkey throwing darts at a list.

Modern American Gold Eagles are also 22 karat but they contain one full troy ounce of gold in them. The obverses are the same but the reverses are different. They're worth looking at if you like August St. Gauden's work.

I have a friend that thinks we're going to be hit by a massive cash shortage in the near future (early next year). Basically the fed is pumping money into the stock market to prop it up but for regular people cash is going to be scarce. Federal unemployment ends this month but theyre almost certain to extend it. However if/when they stop giving people a shitload of money to not work... I think he has a very real chance of being right. And if he is right wouldnt prices tank for almost everything? Best results I have had are to make sure the pan is perfectly clean, then put a thin coating of flaxseed oil over the whole pan (as thin as you can, like wipe with a paper towel until you can't wipe any more off) then bake in the oven at 400F until the oil has completely baked away, then repeat that process as many times as you have patience for. The biggest mistake I have made trying to season pans is to put on too much oil.

Your friend is right. If they pull subsidies, either on purpose or through congressional dysfunction, we will see deflation hard and fast. It would also present a huge money making opportunity for all the rich fucks in cash right now. However, there would be massive social unrest as a result.

Whether we see a deflationary period first or continue straight to high inflation depends on the actions of the fed and congress. So it's a question of whether you think the opportunity for more looting is too tempting for them, or if the social unrest is too scary and they're content with just giving themselves freshly printed money.

MUX is a bet on Rob McEwen. Certain people have an enormous amount of hatred for it, because the stock has been going down for some time. But that simply means that I can accumulate it more cheaply. It cannot but recover with a rising gold price, and then Rob McEwen will do the rest.

https://seekingalpha.com/article/4337241-5-gold-and-silver-mining-stocks-for-2020

"McEwen Mining has four operating mines in Canada, Nevada, Mexico, and Argentina. In 2019, they will produce about 175,000 oz of gold equivalent. Costs are high, with all-in costs around $1,350 per oz. These high costs are why their share price has not risen. The bad news is they are not likely to decrease costs substantially. So, expect all-in costs per oz to remain above $1,250.

For their FD market cap of $378 million, their resources are not that large. However, they do have considerable exploration potential on their properties. I don’t think their resources will restrict their growth. Black Fox and Grey Fox in Canada appear to be growing in size, with good grades.

Another red flag is high debt at around $50 million. Even with all of these red flags, I do not consider this to be a high-risk stock because they can raise money issuing stock or selling their Los Azules project. Unless gold prices drop below $1,300 and stays there for an extended period of time, this is a company I expect to be around for a long time. The CEO, Rob McEwen, owns 20% of the stock and is one of the best miners in the business. This is his company and I expect him to build it into a Major.

...

Why be interested in McEwen Mining with all of their red flags? One reason: Rob McEwen. I believe he can build this into at least a 250,000 oz. producer and perhaps more. I don't know if he can build it into a major ($3 billion market cap), but I think he will come close."

The way the Federal Reserve creates money will never result in a true cash shortage as for every dollar of money the Federal Reserve creates, there is a corresponding dollar of debt. What your friend says is partially correct.

There is a tremendous dearth of cash among the bottom 90% or so of the population as what these people have is essentially debt. They need, desperately for some, money to service that debt. Unfortunately for them, they're not in the Fed's VIP club and thus do not get any of the money created through all the rounds of quantitative easing.

Meanwhile, in the top 5% of wealth holders, there is a surfeit of cash and they don't really don't know what to do with it. Holding it is a guaranteed loser in the long run because it's clear that what is needed is a way for the debtors to lessen their debt which will only occur via debt cancellation or dollar depreciation. Obviously, the same 5% who own most of the wealth also are the biggest creditors so it'll be a cold day in hell before they agree to debt cancellation.

Thus, the top 5% and the next 5% after them after piling into anything and everything that might protect the purchasing power of the money they have: stocks, real estate, artwork and other collectibles, and even bonds (trading for capital gains).

The point being, there will be no deflation. Period. There may be a very brief period of disinflation/deflation where asset prices fall for a month or two but the central banks of the world will release another cycle of large scale asset purchases to goose prices higher again. This will eventually fail but it will fail in a very high inflation environment, not a deflationary environment.

The Fed, the most important central bank, is guided by the memory of the Great Depression and the effects of a deflationary spiral and enacts policies based on that institutional memory. They have no experience with or fear of hyperinflation.

Let's all get something straight.

I've heard dozens of top Austrian economists lately talk about the JP Morgan investigation into their veritable manipulation of Silver on the Comex.

While that may be the case, no one should get their hopes up for justice or change even with a smoking gun. It will never come. Ever.

Put the idea of justice out of your mind and remove it as any potential distraction. Carry on.

I'm practically 100% certain that I've forgotten more economics than your friend knows. Just ask yourself one simple question: Since the Fed and the other major central banks of the developed world started QE in Q4 2008, after twelve years, has a basket of things tied to inflation fallen in price?

Car prices? Up.
Housing prices? Up.
Food prices? Up.
Equities? Up.
Bond prices? Up.
Precious metals prices? Up.
Rents? Up.
Health care prices? Up.

About the only things that are down are crude oil and maybe copper and we're probably in a cyclical down turn that will eventually reverse. Where's the deflation, which would cause mass defaults and bank failures left and right.

>> No.20496891

>>20496398

Thanks for the understandable and insightful explanation.

I suspect the transition from deflation to inflation comes from a 5-10% pull back in the stock market, where all the Fed printed credit is pent up.

Once the sale of those assets enter the broader economy, bread prices spike relative to earnings, especially the $600 unemployment check.

Interactive Brokers should allow you access to all foreign stocks. If your broker only allows you to trade on the NYSE, you will find McEwen Mining, but all the other small-caps in this thread are too cheap to be listed there. For people in the UK, Hochschild Mining, Hummingbird Resources, Highland Gold, and Adriatic Metals, are listed on the LSE. GDXJ ETF is on both the NYSE and the LSE; although that concerns mid-tiers, not small-caps.

@HeavyMetal123 | Excellent discussion ladies and gentlemen. Thank you for everyone’s thoughts. Just to add 2 things. One, I’m going nowhere. This is one of two core holdings that I plan on holding until fruition, whatever form that takes and yes, ultimately I believe this one will result in a buyout sooner rather than later. And two, when I say 2.40, that is what I feel the absolute minimum will be. A surprise to upside of that price could very well be possible. The only way that we’ll know that is with drill results. So Marz and Co. drill baby drill and show us what you got. In fact, please, please prove me wrong. I’d like nothing more than to wake up one day and an offer be on table for 3-4.00. Conclusion: Stay long and strong folks, we’re in for a great ride moving forward... 18 Jul 2020, 18:29

@lucky1288 | There are so many options here. They could spin off the nickel and copper assets this year or early next year to give the shares a boost while we are waiting for more drill results and the R.E. They could sell Fenelon only and concentrate on developing Martiniere and the other Balmoral properties, however, we are only in the early stages of deep drilling at Gabbro so this is probably not likely. Much will depend on how much a buyer wants and is willing to pay; and also how long Marz wants to keep doing this. He is a very shrewd operator and will likely give any potential buyer the "shaft." Also WM has been around several decades. There is a lot of loyalty to present employees who have been there a long time. Wouldn't be surprised if they sold partial assets and kept the company going. They now have so many potential properties to develop they could keep going 30 years. 18 Jul 2020, 18:00

@MtlBiz | Drill, drill baby!! Continue the great results, gold going higher, I agree that a buyout is 18-24 months away and that’s amazing! In 2 years, the valuations will be much higher than they are today. I’ve put down $3.5- 4 Billion as a buyout but I expect it to be more in 2 years time. Traders can hit or miss with WM, long term investors will get paid handsomely though. Easy hold from here. Also, I expect the latest results to be the “worse” of the latest batch of results coming out. That’s just me 18 Jul 2020, 17:59

@AlohaGold88 | I agree with @MarkHanna 100 percent. I feel the total buy out will be in the 4/5 Billion range.(USD) I myself see the time line as 18/24 months, a bit longer than most of you, The reason why, is look how precise and detailed the NR are. Also Marz does not need to make a NR sound sexy, WM is sexy. Marz also knows we got the goods, and lots of it. The longer we wait the more info we have the bigger the RE will be. Marz knows as soon as that RE comes out, he will need to extra security guards with bats, to beat all the drooling majors away till he picks the best deal for us share holders. If we have 800 million shares or 80 million shares it does not change the fact that every share, is a GOLDEN ticket. 18 Jul 2020, 12:48

@MarkHanna | I want to make one thing clear in my argument. The share count is not lost on me whatsoever. I get that it's high, but at the same time, I don't care. I'm here targeting an eventual market cap. 5 billion by the time it's sold is more than reasonable based on the Detour sell price. Whether that comes in the form of Fenelon being sold for $3B, and Martiniere for 2 or whatever combination you can imagine (I see multiple headframes on the landscape in the not too distant future) then even $5B can be very conservative. Especially with gold taking off. The safety of this investment is the true appeal. The downside risk is almost non-existent.

Or again, look back at companies like Viszla Resources or Tudor Gold at the start of this year. Everybody excitedly "shilling" them precisely because they had good reason to do so:

@CoastalTrader | Attended VRIC. Talked with Ken K. 4 drills and he is super pumped on having a Resource Est by end of year. Majors, institution, wealth managers, just won't touch a stock until property or project provides a qualified 43-101 resource estimate. Then the buying starts. Based on all the back of the napkin numbers (including Sprott's)- we are probably over 15 million/ozs with potential to seriously bust 20 mozs. This is discovery HUGE - in a global discovery comparison. Just gives one the feeling that the stock won't rise next winter - it'll be catapulted into the stratosphere. Be patient and do you own DD. This is a once in a generation type discovery that has yet to be valued accordingly.

Tudor Gold up 3.5x since that post.

I recommended Viszla Resources on here a month ago, literally one day before it began to go up up sixfold. Because you are excited about a mining stock, it does not imply that you are a shill.

Because the point of a brush gun is to be relatively light, and short enough that you can bring it up to fire no matter your position or the thickness of the bush around you. They're designed for the function of killing very large animals at very short distances with very little reaction time with only 1 or 2 shots. Its why straight stock 45-70s exist: The recoil is worse, but you can shoulder and fire faster.

idk how long a lever action 45-70 brush gun is, But I am just speculating there may be some comparable size, length and weight, with the FN Scar, and with the Scar you have more and quicker follow up shots

i thjink this way since i read a story of a guy who dropped an attacking Grizzly at close with his Garand, guess he dumped the entire 8 round clip into it, but i think it was 30-06 so i wonder if he could have finished the job with half those rounds

Hey biz,
34yo boomer Aussie here. Moderately new to pmg, took the goldpill after discovering Schiff/Maloney etc over the last year or so.

Have so far accumulated 8 oz in gold and 1500 oz silver. Seems like the reasonable thing to do is allocate 10% or so of my PM portfolio into mining stocks, but this is where I get lost.

Anyone knowledgable about mining stocks on the ASX, or do I have to make an account to invest on the NXSE or something? Anyway would like to hear from someone who invests in miners on the ASX or has any resources. Cheers

Be cool. The problem with talking about mining stocks is that there is a risk of a pump and dump. However, mining stocks are related to this thread and, for those who buy the right mining stocks, are where the massive profits will be made.

I have idle capital with which I'd like to make huge capital gains and good mining stock research is rarer than hen's teeth. I hope that we can get some opinions from people who've done the research or have some sort of market intelligence that the analysts don't have. Pan Man, to that extent, has been pretty helpful.

>The problem with talking about mining stocks is that there is a risk of a pump and dump.
almost impossible since the company itself owns over half of the stock and there's millions of individual investors that would have to coordinate to pump the rprices.

the real danger with mining stocks it that they don't actually make their money from people investing in PM's. They mostly sell metal to industry and government. So when recession hits, metals may go up in value while mines actually shut down for lack of demand. It's not a straight equality where metal goes up and mine stock goes up. Even when they do move together, there's usually about a 2 year lag between prices rising and miners growing. It takes time to capitalize a rise in value and then go into production. So any rise that lifts miners has to be sustained. We're in a recession. Right now metals prices will likely continue to rise while mines continue to shut down.

Precious metals miners are not affected by recessions, assuming that demand for precious metals is not negatively impacted. Here we assume demand for gold and silver may even go up in a recession because central banks will continue their decade-plus policies of depreciating their currencies through LSAP.

Thus, the miners will not shut down in a recession because the demand should still be there. A shutdown at a mining company will occur if workers are unavailable due to Covid-19 or if the mining company has a cocked up cost structure where its production price is not covered by the spot price.

most PM's come from non-PM mines.

there are laws in most countries right now limiting or closing mining operations for covid.

the alternative problem with having a market is they probably can't get credit or capital assets during a recession.

and again, prices have to remain high. It takes about 15 minutes to shut a mine down and years to open a new one up. So there's a lag. It's not a straight correlation between price rise and mining activity.

also again, most of the investors in PM's are industry and government so if they stop buying because prices go up the demand shrinks close to 0. Private investors don't buy enough metal to sustain any mine except the very small ones.

>> No.20501759

>Thus, the miners will not shut down in a recession because the demand should still be there
this has been proven false in every recession in the last 200 years, though to be fair recessions before 1975 also caused the price of metals to drop.

but in every recession since 1975 we've seen mine closures even as metals prices went up, followed by a boom in mining a year or more after the prices rose.

Never in recorded history have we had QE, negative interest rates, and other insane monetary and economic policies as we have had since 2008.

I would agree the miners would utterly eat it if the central banks decided a deflationary spiral were the best economic policy. However, the past decade has shown that they will stop at nothing to avoid that outcome. Any recession that a precious metals miner suffers will be very, very short term (less than 3 months), IMO, because the central banks will resort to all sorts of insane policies to "recover" from a recession.

yes. US laws changed at the beginning and end of the depression.

iirc it was illegal to mine gold in the US during WWI so prices were flat. Gold ore was worthless in the US. We saw huge booms when that law was repealed, but it was reinstated for WWII.

the timing of US gold miners' rise coincided with the depression but had nothing to do with it. Also we didn't have private investors in gold at the time because it was illegal or being pulled off the market. The price of gold was fixed by the US government.

the situation is entirely unlike modern recessions just because of the legal environment surrounding gold ownership and mining in the US.

Curiously, the fall and rise in the miners during the 2008 collapse coincides quite closely with the price of silver. Both miners and silver plummet in July 2008, and then recover again only in 2009. But silver has recovered a lot more quickly this time--only four months to make a full recovery. Mean-while, the miners are already making new highs. So circumstances are not repeating themselves exactly.

>> No.20502219

>So circumstances are not repeating themselves exactly.
agreed, but this time around we've seen the gov dump huge liquidity into markets, roughly avoiding the problems of 08.

the danger I'm speaking of is the same one driving metals higher. It's possible we haven't begun to see the recession yet. If markets tank and stay down in the fall we may see an 08 crash or worse for miners. Gold and silver could very well moon while miners sit stagnant working as fast as they can to re-open.

>> No.20502423

>>20502219

So far as I can find the best advice, there are two possibilities as we go ahead. Either there is going to be another market crash and general sell-off soon, which will drive both miners and gold down with it, taking gold as low, temporarily, as 1400, before they increase enormously (David Brady); or gold and miners are simply going to keep going higher together, owing to a currency crisis which will destroy the dollar this year (Alisdair McCleod). At this point, if gold goes up, I don't think that the miners can possibly go down. It is true that gold is far more resilient than miners are during a panicked general sell-off. But when you buy a miner, you are literally buying ownership of gold in the ground; and that is exactly what a sensible person would want to do in an environment of high inflation. Miners probably did not rise as quickly during 2008-2009 for lack of liquidity and inflation. Q. E. 1 only began in November 2008.

yes, but you're also buying the debt and liability that goes with recovering that asset. In the ground its value is MUCH lower than out.
>Miners probably did not rise as quickly during 2008-2009 for lack of liquidity and inflation.
liquidity was the largest problem, no credit available.
Uncertainty was another problem, they can't tool up for a tiny spike in prices
Production delays were another huge problem. It takes time to start a mine up. A shitload of time.

High quality picks.

Pan American and Equinox are both Ross Beaty's companies. Your money is safe in his companies, but they're already big and your returns won't be as supercharged. Safe and solid companies, but not cheap.

Metalla is a great royalty company, very safe, momentum going up for this stock price as well. No jurisdictional risk as opposed to something like FN or SAND. Chart has been very interesting too, am personally looking to add to position.

Goldmining is being slept on, I've been pushing this stock for a while, and should be valued at at LEAST $3 minimum in 2020. That was it's price at the beginning of the current gold bull market, and since then it's 14 projects are continuing to be developed, Gold's price itself has shot up, and as well recently it has created a subsidiary Gold Royalty Corp to get royalties on it's 14 diversified assets, which would retain shareholder value as GoldMining finds JV partners to develop it's projects, or sells it's projects.

Don't sell this stock until the last innings of this bull market years down the line. Backed by Doug Casey, Marin Katusa, Rick Rule, and Ross Beaty's given his best praise for CEO Adnani, who's been called the next Beaty. Analyst price target for 12 months is $6. Chart looks like it's flagging too.

First Majestic has fantastic leverage to silver, is very well managed, and has Neuymeyer at the helm, who seems like a the best captain to a very strong ship. Only problem is Mexican gov't is shaking them down for tax money. We'll have to see how it plays out. Silver is making huge moves recently.
