I have a vague recollection of listening a mining podcast, where it was said that Aurcana is only down at the moment because of share dilution, and that it ought to come up again soon.

https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:9BVyHv1o8agJ:https://seekingalpha.com/article/4347497-aurcana-corp-silver-mine-development-story+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk

"I have been following Aurcana's high-grade silver project (Revenue-Virginius Mine) in Colorado for a while now. I have waited patiently to see how it progressed. Recently, I watched a video interview with the CEO explaining the project and its current status. I was impressed. They seem to be close to the finish line.

Aurcana Corp. is under the radar. I don't think investors realize the quality of their RV project. It is in a good location in Colorado, where mining has been common in the past. In my opinion, there aren't any location issues. Plus, what makes it special is the high-grade and exploration potential. The resource is 30 million oz. (700 gpt), but it will increase in size. Management is excited about what they are going to find once they start drilling certain targets. It is a past-producing mine with several known veins.

All development stocks carry significant risk. The risk for Aurcana is that they do not get financing, or they have higher than expected costs, or silver prices do not rise. Plus, there are likely several other risks that I am not aware of that are lurking. That said, I think the risk-reward is compelling."

List is somewhat different from the one which I posted a month ago, because some stocks there have already run. I see that the only one in Rick Rule's list is Discovery Metals, about which he says "no comment." Perhaps unwilling to criticize it, since his employer, Eric Sprott, is an investor?

With regard to McEwen Mining, the company is run by one of the most respected people in the mining industry, Rob McEwen. He turned a nothing-company, GoldCorp, into one of the best in the world. Durrett concludes:

"Why be interested in McEwen Mining with all of their red flags? One reason: Rob McEwen. I believe he can build this into at least a 250,000 oz. producer and perhaps more. I don't know if he can build it into a major ($3 billion market cap), but I think he will come close."

With regard to McEwen Mining, the company is run by one of the most respected people in the mining industry, Rob McEwen. He turned a nothing-company, GoldCorp, into one of the best in the world. The stock is very cheap right now simply because of some temporary setbacks; all the more reason to buy it. Durrett concludes:

@Jefe_de_Oro "i still have some DD to do, but sprott just now saying on the weekly wrap up that he is now in $SPA and they have 10 million ozs in ground. at .30 cents that is as undervalued as it gets in this gold bull market. Freegold $FVL , flew from .08 to 1.50 and has 6 Million ozs in the ground......you do the math. ---- 6 million vs. 10 million...... FVL 2.0 me thinks ;)" 17 Jul 2020, 15:20

@mackvorkian As we know, Eric Sprott had bought into SPA. I am hopeful that he will buy more. Eric Sprott has continued to mention the New Ounces In the Ground Paradigm for weeks now. Its forward looking based on a number of factors, the most important being the ascending POG in a super strong Bull Market. $60 an ounce in the ground, in Eric Sprott's reasoning, is way too cheap, especially considering the huge profitability that miners are making. ES says that $100 to $150 an ounce in the ground is what the value should be. Another factor is the size of the projects. There are actually very few large projects over 2 million ounces in the world, and many of them are in very bad neighborhoods. Using Sprott's reasoning and using a revamped number of 5 million oz (earlier PEA had 7 Mill Oz) and giving no value to the Phoenix Zone which has huge potential, 5 mill oz x $100 an ounce = $500 mill value on a Buy Out. At the present MC of $85 mill, the potential is a 6 bagger from here. Using Sprott's $150 an ounce were talking 10 bagger. Remember, Eric Sprott is forward looking. That's why he's a Billionaire. 17 Jul 2020, 16:58

If you can get past this retard screaming the whole interview Judy Shelton has some interesting talking points. Only time will tell what's gonna happen tho. Sometimes people say one thing and do another once in a position of power. She raises a valid point in regard to our economy in a global context. We might do the right thing but if everyone else does the wrong thing then we could end up hurting. These are precarious times, even if we dont get rich from our stacks we wont be as vulnerable as many other Americans. People dont save money anymore, they just spend it as soon as they get it or they simply dont make enough to save. Sometimes I'm fearful that my stack isnt enough and then I remember that the MAJORITY of americans dont even have $1000 saved. We will make it frens but it may not be as glamorous as we hope it will be.

Alasdair's technical analysis seems on point but don't take his guesses on the bigger picture as gospel. Too much lolbertarian dogmatism. Even if they're smarter then the Keynesians et al, it doesn't mean they don't have their own blind spots. Just like others they fall prey to wishful thinking, motivated reasoning, etc.

For example, I do think in the short term Uncle Sam will step in to save the paper market. They know precisely what the comex blowing up means for them and the banks do what they do at gov behest. The current monetary policy regime will not just crumble and blow away just because it should. They will go down, but they'll go down fighting like cornered animals.

So they'll save the comex for another few years while they desperate cast about for ANY solution other than commodity backed currency. Them willingly giving up the ability to print to enrich themselves and buy votes is like a vampire forgoing blood in favor of garlic smoothies.

am i wasting my money on silver? ive been buying like crazy but i dont understand all the people here who say they will be able to buy land and homes once the moon mission happens. if hyperinflation takes place wouldnt that mean that the "increased" value of silver is still equal to the purchasing power it had before hyperinflation? because if this is the case wouldnt land and home values hyperinflate equally?

Some of the mercs I own are so slicked that they weigh 15% less on a milligram scale than good condition ones.

How do coin dealers get away with advertising $$/toz on junk silver when they can just send you 15% less metal than advertised whenever they feel like it? Seems like bullshit.

This sounds more plausible especially considering how little people actually care about the stock market let alone the comex. How would they even save it though? From my understanding the Comex is under immense pressure because mines arent producing enough to keep up with demand which means that people are actually demanding delivery on their contracts so they can sell it in the physical markets for a pretty steep profit. Buy silver @ spot for $19 (5000oz), take delivery, sell in aftermarket for $120k. What's the gov gonna do to stop people from using the Comex as a delivery platform the way they are?

High inflation will also hit the real value of assets priced in that currency. They will not keep pace 1:1.

PMs will match true inflation better than anything else. They won't 10x real estate, but 2-3x is feasible in the next few years. Enough for a down payment on a mortgage if you're a small stacker and watch your credit rating, maybe enough to buy outright if you're a big stacker.

Commodities are at an historic low when compared with everything, and silver is at an enormous low when compared with gold. It is true that commodities will take off and re-assert themselves, precisely because they offer the value of protecting oneself from inflation. But they will not simply keep up with inflation; they will outperform everything else within it. People were buying houses for only a few hundred ounces of silver in Weimar Germany. Real yields are now negative, and the bond market is even larger than the stock market. All assets but PMs are in an historic bubble. Metals are now the only true safe haven, a fact which people will realize soon.

You should probably do more due dilligence before investing in things anon. Being careless will make you bankrupt. You chose the right sector though.

Essentially, under hyperinflation all things explode in price. But precious metals' thesis is that they have intrinsic value and have been used as real money for thousands of years, so while they too get the nominal increase from inflation, they also appreciate themselves as their own demand goes up - they're the true money that can't be created at the crazy rates currency gets created at.

Hyperinflation is not guaranteed however. What is guaranteed is monetary tampering which will boost the price of our metals. Silver and Gold are great places to be right now, and likely crypto once the recession stuff is all behind us.

Might as well be a lifetime considering how fast things are moving. Currently buying Silver Elephant Mining and Southern Silver, both undervalued in relation to the price of silver currently.

I will however be selling First Majestic from your post(thanks) as well as Vista Gold due to Australia's mining troubles(lack of excavator equipment) although, later in this bullrun Australia Gold and Silver mines will have a lot of catching up to do.

Also thinking about what to do with: Argonaut Gold, Eldorado Gold, Hecla Mining, Novagold Resources(really conflicted about this one), Pretium Resources, Paramount Gold Nevada, and Skeena Resources. I've made a fair bit of money off these already(except Novagold*) and can't decide whether to cash in now for more plays or wait.

Anybody have any info on whether I should hold or sell any of these in particular?

It's worth reading Don Durrett's article. >>20475097 In the comments section he also says:

"I don't think they will sell for a low valuation now that Eric is involved."

"Hopefully, Eric will have a voice and convince them to build the mine. Eric believes gold in the ground should be worth much more than $30 per oz at $1800 gold."

"It was going higher without Eric's involvement if gold prices trend. It was too large and located in too good of a place not to get built. Their gold in the ground is valued too cheap not to rise.
But Eric's involvement should now push it higher faster, as there is more recognition of the property's value."

So he obviously believes that Sprott will have influence over the management team.

The comments on https://ceo.ca/spa are also interesting. I quoted some of them before; here are some others:

@mackvorkian I pulled every lever that I had at my disposal to get SPA in front of Eric Sprott's face. I don't know if we will ever know how he found out about SPA. I do communicate with Sprott Money on a Weekly basis as I buy my Physical Silver from them and have for years. They store it for you and are the most reputable PM dealer in Canada. 17 Jul 2020, 17:35

@mackvorkian We could be headed to record volume today. SPA has been unknown and off the radar for a long time. Then Jordan Roy-Byrne caught wind of it. And Don Durrett put up that excellent article on Seeking Alpha. And now Eric Sprott is also a shareholder. And when ES gets on board, the word gets out. And ES in it for some serious dough $$$. See what his Buy In and recommendation of FVL did for that jr. FVL went from 8 cents on May 5 to $1.50 2 months later. It is not unusual for ES to get his initial slice and then to keep on buying. There is a reason that the Volume is seriously UP. If you are new here, and you want in, buying today is going to be a lot cheaper that after the word gets out on Sprott Money on Friday. At $1800 Gold, SPA has an NPV of $960 Million and an IRR of 40% with an aisc of $549. And right now, the M/C is only $60 million. No doubt Eric Sprott thinks that there's a lot of upside. 16 Jul 2020, 19:02

You can have 1 oz, all the way to 1/100000000 of an oz and less of recoverable PM's, embedded in a note or coin.

you can have electronic PM transfers as well, so debit, credit, cheque, pay pay and so on.

First Majestic is actually an excellent stock, it is simply that, as a large-cap, it has far less room to run than the small-caps, which is why I prefer them. But it will always move with the silver price, because not only is it, as Sprott says, a "cult stock," but it makes up 10% of SILJ, So anybody who buys that ETF will be driving up the price of First Majestic. First Majestic is actually an excellent stock, it is simply that, as a large-cap, it has much less room to run than the small-caps, which is why I prefer them. And, unlike mainstream ETFs, the miner ETFs are not in a bubble yet--and at some point they will be. I am considering buying Hecla Mining simply because it also makes up 10% of SILJ, while it is still only $4.50 a share.

The reason why First Majestic is a "cult stock" is because Keith Neumeyer, the CEO, is a favourite figure among silver-lovers. People also remember the fact that it went up 150x from 2001-2011; although, obviously, only a small-cap could do this now, which is what First Majestic was in 2001.

Mark Vorkian, who accumulated the company dirt-cheap some years ago, and "did everything he could to get it in front of Eric Sprott's face," wrote a long list of things which the management should be doing. Seems that he is frustrated with them as well:

"If I was running the company, I would: #1 Hire a sharp IR person who actually communicates with the shareholders and prospective shareholders. #2 Upgrade the website. #3 Drill the Phoenix Zone. We need the News Flow and the potential additional ounces. #4 Hire Whittle Consulting to maximize the mine plan. #5 Search for and find a new CEO to take the company to the next level. #6 After the sweet stupid cheap lowball financing, find a way to ensure that all the insiders buy and continue to buy shares in the market. #7 Prepare the company for a Buy Out. (I was told in the past that SPA will never mine this and that they don't want to. They don't have the chops to do so.) Therefore, I would clarify my goals and tell the shareholders. #8 Attend every single Mining Show in North America going forward. #9 Contact every single Newsletter Writer. #10 Hire Mike at Insidexporation to come on site and do his promotional service. #11 Hire Newton to do Social Media. #12 Search for and hire an new CEO who can actually do the things I just listed. I mentioned this twice. Its that important."

As you say, it is encouraging to think that Sprott may clear up their inadequacies. And then we might see another FVL. So I will definitely hold this stock long-term.

That actually is included in Ben Graham's Security Analysis. Mining companies that achieve a profit of $0.01/ton mined will see the biggest windfall in share prices. If prices increase $1/ton, their profit/ton increases 10,000%. This is the same reason Austrians bitch about money printing: the companies that are barely viable get a lot more out of it than good companies

its interesting that they say that SPA never planned on actually running the mine themselves, that was the attitude when I was there. Everyone in management and general staff knew it was planned to eventually be a buy out get out situation. Thank you, this is interesting to hear. Even though Dacian Gold is doing disastrously, and I don't care about the company at all, I bought it at $0.20 a share recently simply upon this principle. Even though 95% of my other companies are ones which I passionately believe in. It is also the reason why I like McEwen Mining so much; because its setbacks are not because of the CEO, who is a mining genius, but external, and able to be remedied by a rising gold price.

It was pretty bad for the higher up management. Sprott likes to visit unannounced once in a while and catch things off guard to see whats happening. He will often go around and just ask random employees what they think about things, or how things are going. Sprott had the bar at the Pooley St Cafe in Wells stay open late and grilled the top management for an hour. He repeatedly called out the geos as being yes men, and reminded everyone that he wasnt Frank Callahan. It got pretty heated and he eventually had everyone he didnt want chew out leave.

I actually like this as a concept but the smart way to do it would be to coat the outside with something that makes it look like wood or copper.
Then if you're ever travelling and get robbed and need some money or something, you just need to break it open to show the gold on the inside. Nobody tries to rob you for your gold even if they see you're wearing a ring, but you also have some easily to carry emergency funds.

This is the only correct reason to own. Unfortunately we have a lot of low IQ silver speculators in this general that are no better than crypto moonboy when it comes to expectations for their stacks of cheap metal. Expecting enormous gains on silver miners is not unreasonable. The average small-cap silver stock went up 150x during the bull market of the 70s. We saw the same in the 00s; see e. g. First Majestic, which went 150x from 01-11. We have already seen enormous gains in PM stocks, like 37x in FVL over the past few months (>>20475982), or 5x in Vizsla Resources, which I recommended in /pmg/ a month ago.

Gold is still vastly undervalued as compared to the Dow, and needs to go to about $5,000 before it reaches its nominal peak of $1900 in 2011. Hence it will buy you about 3x as many stocks, 3x as much real-estate, &c., at the peak of this new bull market. Now silver, to get a normal historical ratio with gold, would have to double in terms of real purchasing power. That gives you $120 dollar silver in today's currency, and the ability to buy 6x as many stocks, 6x as much real estate, &c.

As I mentioned in a previous post, the bond market is even larger than the stock market. And, as real yields are now negative, and will only get worse as inflation grows, a bull market in silver is inevitable, because silver is one of the few safe havens remaining. David Brady says that it could go as high as $500. Why not, when bonds provide you with currency which is becoming increasingly worthless, and assets are in an extremely dangerous bubble.

Once people realize that the governments of the world are caught in an inextricable debt-trap, how can they not buy silver when they see it is so cheap? They will do just what they did in the 70s, and rightly so.

There will be a point where both silver and gold become extremely overvalued beyond their base purchasing power as investors pile into the metals. Just like every other asset that becomes popular to the masses, they'll overshoot their value as we get into Ponzi style buying. And the argument for silver overshooting it's fair value is very strong, as it's market cap is extremely small, and as well most of the public are not able to afford any quantities of Gold, hence going for the next best thing. When people think of the next best thing to gold, it's silver. In this likely scenario then, silver's percentage gain will be higher than gold's. Looking back at history, this has always been true in precious metals bull markets.

Beyond that, just being a precious metal in an inflationary period makes it's value itself grow, irrespective of the added inflationary nominal value.

As for Gold Silver ratio stuff, I see no reason it won't revert to the mean as it always has. If there is an argument, it has to be true now that wasn't in 2011. As it stands, Gold's price vs Silver has always peaked during the recessions, like it has in the GFC and Dotcom, and afterwards dropped downwards as silver's price rockets upwards. And in our current recession, what do you know, Gold's price to silver has shot up at record highs. If there is any good argument why we won't follow the historical trend, I'm all ears.

My money is agnostic be it for boomer rocks or zoomer coins. I don't care and have no attachments. But my money is betting on the Gold Silver Ratio reverting.

Getting a budget cell plan and using an old phone should be good for an extra $1k per year, cut Netflix and Spotify that's another 10 oz a year. If you have any cc debt though you should get rid of it first so you have more cash flow for stacking.

Not to be an asshole but if stacking <100toz a year is such a burden for you sounds like you are poor as shit and should stack some serious cash before stacking PMs in earnest.

I’m totally on board with the PMs are sound money meme, but what happens when you stacked PMs hard and then suddenly you have an unexpected expense and not enough $US to cover it?

You have to go and sell your PMs to the crooks at your local coin store, possibly at or even melt value, that’s what happens.

Some collectibles are cool but they’re not guaranteed to go up in value. I’m a sucker for collectibles/commemoratives from the Royal Mint, but often I check on eBay and find they’re not actually that desirable on the market. So for new commemorative shit, if you like them you just have to accept you’re not necessarily getting your money back any time soon.

On the other hand, OLD SHIT is a fucking winner. The old coins, especially the pre-19th century stuff is expensive, but also very much desired. I’ve noticed even Victorian silver crowns in moderately good condition get bid up like mad on eBay. You have to pay big money to get them but there’s a big chance you’ll get it back or even better.

A coin, properly speaking, is a unit of precious metal that can be used as commodity money.

I know it’s become the convention, but it seems wrong to me to make a fundamental distinction between “rounds” and “coins”. Even if the way things are at the moment, most precious metal coins minted by governments are more desired than privately minted “rounds”, neither are actually in circulation anyway.

Historically and properly there were many private mints in England, Continental Europe and North America over the centuries, and what they made were always referred to as “coins.” We should go back to this practice. You might think this is trivial, but language is important.

Oh yeah, I mean obviously where government-minted coins have a legal status different from privately-minted “rounds”, it’s worth taking note of it in your own interest.

I just feel like this sanctification of “coins” over “rounds” simply because they are minted under government authority is a little unfortunate.

It was the arbitrary status given to government-issued coins that made old historical events like the debasement of Roman coinage and later Medieval English coinage possible. And this is where the seeds of fiat money come from, when the concepts of simple commodity money and official currency were separated.

Because coin is the older, more evocative term, when you call government issues “coins” and private issues “rounds”, it seems to me at least that you make the latter seem less “money-like” to the average listener.

If things really go to shit, rounds will be accepted. The difference between a round and a government minted coin is, as you said, that the government minted coin is much more recognized and usually more difficult to counterfeit. What people will do with rounds is that they will do assays to ensure that it's actually silver and not some base metal. This is what was done in medieval Europe and in China back in the day. Of course, some people won't know real silver from base metals and will be too afraid of getting swindled to accept a round. From that perspective, the govenrment minted coin has a larger audience that would be willing to accept it.
