the problem with looking at history to predict the future is it doesn't work. People look at the bull run of 2017 and they use it as their basis to project the future of certain coins and tokens they've invested in, but when you think about it that doesn't make any sense. Bitcoin came out of nowhere. There wasn't a 2017 bullrun that you could have used to predict the bullrun of 2017 (obviously i'm aware that bitcoin had 3 such bullruns in its history, i'm making a general point).

I think Link is going to blow past bitcoin's 2017 high, but i have no way of knowing. We could be wrong. The team could be shit, the solutions they're providing could be shit, and the institutions they're courting could not have any interest. But when i think about it, those three scenarios are the only scenarios in which chainlink doesn't make me a millionaire. The project has to either not work, be a scam, or have no adoption in order for it to fail. If it works the way they say it does, if the team is solid (none of which have ever quit, the original team is still working together), and if institutions adopt the solution for the efficiencies it brings, then i will be a millionaire. You'll have to make up your own mind, but i've been here since 40 cents and now we have main net and 8 dollars a token. We have the most insane fudding campaing i've ever seen, including the hacking of the chainlink youtube account to run a doubling scam to steal link tokens from investors. It seems to me that i've got a ticket for a winning horse.

you can't yet. You'll see posters earlier in the thread talking about how staking is coming out this year, presumable in Q3 (most likely august).

Staking for chainlink means you put your link down as collateral, the way you'd put your poker chips down for a bet. Except what you're betting on is whether you're a liar or not. If you're truthful you'll win every bet, and the reward for that will be a fee paid to you in chainlink tokens by the person requesting your collateral for the smartcontract they wish to execute.

What this means for the retail investor is you will give your links to a SAAS company (staking as a service). They'll run the ins and outs, they'll take a 25% cut, and they'll pay you the 75% of the rest of the rewards. At least thats the cut the current SAAS companies are talking about. As the network matures the cut will likely go more towards our pockets and less towards theirs.

well the nature of things is that if they aren't worth doing, people won't do them. right now if you want regular passive income you have to either be something like a landlord or a dividend stockholder. If you were to own dividend stocks you'd usually be paid out 4 times a year to a total of 5% of your investment paid out for the full year. So you you invested 100 bucks, you'd get paid $1.25 per quarter for a total of 5 bucks that year. Thats kinda the minimum people are willing to have their money make. If the dividend stock paid less, they'd sell that trash and buy a different one that paid better. So it's safe to assume that if chainlink is going to work that the absolute minimun staking rewards would have to pay out is 4-5% per year, otherwise people would sell it and buy dividend stocks.
