Working at huge multinational bank (you have heard of them).

Pros:
- good money
- somewhat interesting work (even the boring stuff is interesting since you are tinkering on a huge machine)
- colleagues are nice, honestly missing them in my FI-phantasies
- since it’s such a shitshow I can slack off whenever I want

Cons:
- most people ate as reliable as toddlers. Example:
> hey A, your shit is broken
> A: k fixed it
> tfw it’s not fixed
Shit like that, basic incompetence at participating in collaboration. And there is no repercussion whatsoever.
- Incentives are fucked so everyone has to spend the majority of their time doing the same thing over and over again, when I suggest improvements they just say has been tried, does not work without looking at my concrete suggestion. Am unfortunately drone level so no power to go into whiplash mode
-nothing to do half the time since I am more efficient at coding than my managers at fucking delegating. Wonder if this will get me promoted or fired.
- On top of all of this I they won‘t allow homeoffice anymore for pleb-level employees so I have to sit in a noisy, uncomfortable office with shit monitors. Was in HO before and it’s the dream, did not even mind working. But going through this discomfort and additional effort each day for nothing is just humiliating af.

Really hope they get the shit disrupted out of them, which won’t happen since they are good at marketing/having muh history of reliability. If the clients knew how this shitshow looks on the inside all of them would move to crypto desu

Hi. So what is it like, I make $12.25, about to be 13 b/c they raised the minimum a little bit and I make slightly more than minimum already. It's not a livable wage. Rent is fucked. People during the peak of covid with unemployment were making more than me even working full time. Out of 3 three things you can typically only have two. Coworkers, Mangements, Work(what you do). Two of those things will be good, one of them will be bad and maybe if your in a bad spot it's all shit. Work ranges from mind numbing to infuriating, begging for death or murder suiciding the office. Tired from work leaves it a struggle for hobbies, passions, and things you actually care about. Wage slaving to keep the cycle going because you cannot stop.

Wage slave is only a true term for people who make less than 6 figures. You think those people who have all the most lucrative and highest paying jobs give a fuck if they are wage slaves?

When you make good money (high 5 figures to 6 figures and beyond) it is no longer a job. It is a career. These careers provide huge benefit packages, massive connections opportunities and access to socializing in high society. These people gladly work 8, 10, 12 hours 6 days a week because their carrier jobs massively enrich their lives.

If you think the only way to stop being a wage slave is to invest in internet coins so you can then NEET yourself to death after you’ve made it then you are just as big an NPC as people who work shit dead end jobs their whole lives.

That's why big places like googleand facebook give you so much leeway. Honestly all those perks are designed to instill fondness for the company to prevent sabotage and increase brand loyalty. They aren't under any illusions about the reality of employee productivity, it's really about indoctrination to keep the company image clean and inspire investor confidence.

Alphabet started as just a web search company that gained enough momentum to acquire so many others. It's the same thing that Facebook is trying to do with oculus, Instagram, etc. If you're still running a tech company that turns into a unicorn and hasn't formed an acquisitions team then you're 10 steps behind.

This is just to get a basic “living wage”. You know that by the time you retire in 40 years there won’t be retirement or government supports as it exists now. I've been wage slaving for almost 4 years since I finished university and the worst part is I can remember graduating like it was yesterday. Time goes so fast as a wage slave. My entire week is just dedicated to looking forward to the weekend. If I didn't have a loving family or a girlfriend I would an hero for sure
