I was thinking last night that biz should create it's own private staking pool as there are lots of benefits such as avoiding over saturation. pooled together I think we have enough ADA to make this work well and we could probably be one of the most efficient staking pools if done correctly making sure we all lock in our profits and keep normies out

It's more about cold staking from their upcoming Vault service of cold storage. People who want to do cold storage, but not deal with a hardware wallet or are not tech savvy themselves will probably find this an appealing alternative. Most of /biz/ would obviously be better served either cold staking in Yoroi with hw wallet (or Daedalus once hw wallet compatibility is released).

I have ETH too, but Eth 2.0 is in development hell. There absolutely is time for a competitor with better tech to come along and steal marketshare. Phase 0 of Eth 2.0 that the dev team themselves aren't sure if it's 2020 or 2021 doesn't even address scaling AT ALL. The first piece in this 2 year or so puzzle of 2.0 rollout doesn't even address the problem most immediately impacting users with high gas fees. If Cardano hits all the milestones and has a very decentralized and scalable platform with smart contracts and ease of porting Ethereum projects to Cardano, then there is absolutely an opening to shake things up. It's not a guarantee for sure since Ethereum has the decided advantage right now, but I think people are underestimating just how early we are and how quickly things could change. most of what is built on Ethereum is just speculative defi and proof of concept projects. No true adoption is built on there yet. So we are still early enough that I want to make sure I've go bets placed on both just in case it goes a different way than the "concensus". Ethereum could be the AOL or the Yahoo to Cardano's Google. We can't say anything for certain at this point. Bet accordingly.

They (IOHK) already are. They’ve done more work than most other crypto companies, and that includes even Bitcoin. They have formalized a lot of the science that’s behind crypto, blockchain. They’re the first ones who, before doing Proof of Stake, they actually did some research to prove whether or not Proof of Stake actually makes sense.
