You're not going to be a world shattering innovator but if you have an intelligence a little above average and are willing to put in the effort understanding how shit like this works at a base level is not that difficult at all. Every physics grad kid nowadays can figure it out. If you're genuinely interested just go to your local state college for a bachelors in it. You don't need to be the top of the class if you're only in it for the education itself. It's an enriching experience

>They literally need to do statistical studies to interprete the results that these "computers" spit out

in reality it is even far worse than this
if only a statistical analysis was necessary to interpret the result you could get useful computation out of it as long as your problem that you investigate can be compared to a real world thing to evaluate the correctness of the computation
like for instance in code breaking: the correct password is a yes/no problem

however with quantum computers you need to run a statistical analysis everytime a computation is passed on to a next qubit and even within the same qubit if your computation runs for longer than a few nanoseconds, this makes any useful computation impossible with current technology
the problem is inherant fysics in nature it results from the computer having to be build in the real world and tiny random energy fluctuations even at near 0K in liquid helium are too much

conventional computers handle the issue of corrupted data during computation with thresholding both fysical and software, you can build in threshold voltages or duplicate a set of data in software to get a best of three
however quantum computers by their very quantum nature cannot use either technique as you cannot accurately duplicate a dataset in computation without losing all the benefits of quantum computation

for these computers to work we need a whole new technology angle to build these things and that isn't happening
what is happening is the governments of the world holding a dickwaving competition so massive amounts of funding is passed around that all there is to it; the politicians and bureacrats that control the flow of funding do not understand the science and get scammed by the scientists its a game thats been going on for decades now in the sciences

yeah the only thing that gives some reason to worry is in theory a 2000 qbit general q computer could break bitcoins private keys from a known pubkey in a not completely unreasonable amount of time.

we are currently at around 50 qbuts and pretty much adding a single qbit is exponentially harder and harder so far but the time may come when old btc p2pk addresses get "mined"
