I didn't say this before so you guys didn't cringe. Gramps accumulated a bunch of silver bars over time. They started selling them off to pay for grandma's care so "they wouldn't have to deal with them" and uninsured cash in a bank is so much easier to deal with.

also, many businesses have various restrictions on what they accept or not accept.
so at one end of that logic silver is just one form of "money" barter or trade that is not accepted by certain (most) institutions
many businesses refuse to accept cash. some businesses refuse to accept personal checks. some businesses refuse to accept credit cards. most wont accept foreign currency.
not a big deal that silver or gold arent presently accepted as money for transactions in business or commerce.
this can and does change with time and place

There won't be any asteroid mining, so it's a moot point. Our intelligence has been dropping since the 19th century and we no longer have the intelligence required to make great endeavors into space. The construction and launch of vehicles that could tow asteroids into Lagrangian points and the facilities to mine them are beyond our capabilities now. We are running on the fumes of brilliant men who made spaceflight possible in the 40s and we're running out.

lol, mining asteroids for gold is so far off, i don't think it happens this century, and probably not next century either.

1. the cost to launch a kg of weight to mars/asteroid belt is much higher than the cost to launch a kg of weight to low earth orbit. a falcon heavy rocket can carry 16800 kg to mars for 90 million usd. that's like 8x ford f150 light pickup trucks. do you have any idea how heavy mining equipment is and how much would be needed?

2. mining equipment requires frequent maintenance and repairs here on earth...who is going to do that on an asteroid?

3. once the equipment is on the asteroid, how is the mining equipment going to travel around the asteroid and determine what the best spots are?

4. will the operation send back unprocessed material or processed gold? if the former, that's a lot of weight to launch back to earth (fuel/space), if the latter, that means you need to having refining capabilities on the asteroid (even more equipment).

basically, if you tried this today, what would happen is you'd spend billions of dollars getting the equipment to an asteroid, it probably wouldn't deploy correctly, but if you did manage to start drilling, the equipment would break down in a matter of hours or days, maybe weeks if you're lucky, nothing excavated would be refined or manage to get back to earth. the only way i see this being viable is when AI becomes superior to humans in a wide variety of tasks (mining, repair work, general problem solving, etc.), and when that happens, it will obviously be deployed here on earth first.

Or you can buy from a dealer for $23 an ounce
But it's not like there's a bunch of silver stores ran by the government like next to every courthouse or notary public
As for why you want American silver specifically is because
1. They're more widely recognized
2. They're backed by the US government as official currency with a dollar amount (though that amount is much lower than they're worth)
3. I read somewhere (though I'm not sure if it's true) that US gold and silver eagles are exempt from capital gains tax that you pay when you want to sell your precious metals because they're considered currency and not collectibles

Silver stackers are the ultimate bag holders. Stacking silver is like having a heavy ball and chain attached to your leg. Unless you are alive to witness a literal apocolypse / hyperinflation / fiat system collapse then you will never profit from silver. It's a very long game and many stackers go crazy from holding silver for so many years. Many stackers bought in during the bull run of 2011 and are still holding. The life of a silver stacker is a life of misery and desperation. There is a lot of COPE in the community.

If the economy falls apart there will be plenty of desperate women giving it up for cheap. That's how it always works.

Gotta agree with this anon. Tripfags and tripfag complainers are the same thing. Just hide and move along with your day.

Except pan man, he's the fucking man.

its breaking $20 come November.
People are about to default on debt which will plunge the U.S dollar.
Panic sell in October for silver covering finciql losses. It won't stay low around $13.95 again. Most private holders won't be be able to sell again sine nothing will be left to sell

kek

Don't even bother spending dimes on them, just get some fake gold and silver from aliexpress and use those as whore tokens. They'd probably be too restarted to check if it's fake

i might just hold off on stacking for a while and stockpile cash for buying pms at the next dip
i have a strong suspicion that part of this evonomy circus will include another dip in PMs

Pan man doesn't trip, he just puts on the name so we know it's him. We like this because he's super chill and full of useful knowledge and relevant experience. Same with Floor Stacker. That one triptard, otoh, is utterly useless and has nothing useful to say. But yeah, hide and carry on is the best way to deal with (you) addicts like that.

In considering picking up 23 oz next month. Thats about $ 535.
The reason being silver supply is actually running out along with the demand being so high there may be too many hands in the private holder market.

Jp morgan falsify their actual silver supply. If you ha c e 200oz or more than you're sade to wait to buy in for a dip. Im not even at 50oz. I bought lije every few months a few oz since 2016

yeah i hear ya. my theory is that near future financial hardship could cause a large sell off from some holders of physical PMs. driving down spot price.

>56 years of price action is no indicator of future price action
the only two times silver has spiked since coming off 90% coins in 1964 is when the hunt brothers tried to corner the market on it (wont happen again, they lost alot of money) and the 2008 housing market crash. all the people that ran to PM's after that last one are still feeling the burn as displayed by the corona crash. not sure if the dying boomer population will keep silver up as their grandkids pawn it at 70% spot
