Your shipment might magically be heavier going through Russian customs than elsewhere and you have to pay duties on the additional weight or your steel might magically turn into something else which has specific anti-dumping duties applied to it, duties which you pay but never seem to show up in the Russian custom's bank account at the end of the day. And if you dispute that the goods are what customs say they are, well, their guy who checks these things is on vacation. Stuff like that you just have to deal with. But other stuff, no.

Also when you do purchase a used car, you need the previous owner to sign the title transfer paper AND the purchase price paper (your dmv should carry them, or you can print one online.) As long as it passes inspections, you should be alright.
