It was certainly one of the main reasons, but to be fair, the LIT token itself should have a technical purpose on the vaporware-mainnet according to the whitepaper. Until today nearly all Lition resources seem to be focused on one use case, the energy business. The blockchain tech including LIT is "developed" (copy & paste + minor adjustments) by one or two on-demand retards.
