but that's terrible value. cheap and value are not same. Here's an example: if you buy a 1 pound burger that is 10% added water for $1, simpledivisionby weight means you paid 10 cents for 1.6 ounces of water. That's about 0.03 litres of (municipal) water. Evian is 75 cents a litre. But you are paying $3.33 cents per litre for tap water.

it costs mcdonalds 66 cents to produce a big mac.
and thats ground beef, not mechanically seperated meat like the hot dog above, which is probably like <10 cents to produce. the mark up on the soda syurp + water & carbonation is the single biggest earner for fast food, which given they make 300% on the burgers... Your full meal is produced for under a dollar. They 3x on production cost and tell you its a bargin. Thats why they are rich and you are poor.

That huge dump of sugar literally stuns the pancreas and causes it to spike your insulin level like 10 times higher than it should ever be..
This causes insulin resistance which causes addiction to sugar, diabetes, cancer, obesity, alzheimer's, heart disease and many other modern day illnesses.
They funded a bunch of bullshit studies in the 70s that told us it was cholesterol and fat, but it's literally ALL from sugar and refined carbs.

in terms of nutritional value / expense this is a way way better deal than fast food. But its still shit, and the mark up is still horrific.farmers sell those chickens for prep at like 30 cents a head, and still make a profit. prep on each chicken from cleaning to shelf will be pennies.Did you know al capone made 100 million a year bootlegging? After prohibition he discovered a business where the mark up & profit was even higher: Dairy.

When I was thinking about franchising a chicken shop, i made the same mistake you are now. thats what the franchise makes, not mcdonalds.
2019 mcd's op income was 9b. net profit was 61/2b, (After tax / strategic divestments). big money. they do it by charging you a dollar for shit worth a penny, and the franchise (who makes about 6% per annum), is just the first customer.
