The way I like to think about it is to relate it to metals like gold, which have some uses but the sheer price of it makes all logistics surrounding its use untenable for most of those use cases.

Cryptocurrency definitely does have some kind of use case but it's eclipsed by the cost of doing business... making it paradoxically devalued for most practical purposes.
