This is a huge point. Markets are make believe and inflated, real estate has been inflating in its own wild bubble for a decade, the fed is furiously trying to keep bond yields low to prevent a torrent of money rushing into them from the market and wiping out every 401k and pension in existence.

The only undervalued sector is commodities. Even equities are overpriced. Are we going to get to watch the lowest traders on the totem poll shooting it out on Wall Street to claim delivery of physical gold?

By recognizing the higher-level consequences nature optimizes for, I've come to see that people who overweigh the first-order consequences of their decisions and ignore the effects of second- and subsequent-order consequences rarely reach their goals. This is because first-order consequences often have opposite desirabilities from second-order consequences, resulting in big mistakes in decision making. For example, the first-order consequences of exercise (pain and time spent) are commonly considered undesirable, while the second-order consequences (better health and more attractive appearance) are desirable. Similarly, food that tastes good is often bad for you and vice versa.

Quite often the first-order consequences are the temptations that cost us what we really want, and sometimes they are the barriers that stand in our way. It's almost as though nature sorts us by throwing us trick choices that have both types of consequences and penalizing those who make their decisions on the basis of the first-order consequences alone.

By contrast, people who choose what they really want, and avoid the temptations and get over the pains that drive them away from what they really want, are much more likely to have successful lives.

See, the thing is, people want to own them. And they get high prices for a reason.

I kept saying "wow that NVIDIA sure is over-priced. I mean it must be, it's gone up crazy high crazy fast and it's P/E is insane!" but it just keeps going up because it's high quality. And apparently, US equities are the highest quality, because everyone fucking wants them.

Some people want Chink equities too, and i can see that being profitable, but now we know the rules aren't the same when it comes to visibility of accounting and getting your money out when you want it.

Literally over 55% of the stock market is owned by less than 1% of the investors in the market, and that number grows every day that BRRRR money is allowed to flow into it. The people 'valuing' stocks and property and equities aren't doing it with real money that has to be earned. All the cash driving those prices and values up is being willed into existence by the Fed, handed to indexes, and shoved down the market's throat with a tamp. >someone is holding the largest bag of shit of all time
OK, so that someone is the Fed. They answer to no one if the debt they hold turns toxic. When half those loans default over time, then the money has officially been "printed." The "debt" side of the equation is completely erased, and now there is more money in circulation. This is inflationary. That's the only problem I see with it. If we can't keep too many companies from going bust at the same time, there could be some sort of quick spike in inflation. I'd imagine it would be dramatic at first, cause a little panic for a short time, not years, and then that inflation will die down to about half the spike and slowly creep up as it becomes obvious the inflation has gotten out of control. Then we have to wait for the next Volcker to arrive.

When the Fed let it get to 3% in 2018 it caused a stampede out of the market almost instantly. Its hovering around 0.6% I think right now in real terms. The Fed's fear is that if it cracks even 1% they'll have a the same issue as 2018, but magnified as everyone seems to implicitly agree that the market shouldn't be this high, but they're all riding it anyway like the degen gamblers that they are.

Woke up this morning to a gnarly spread on $2.5 September call options for $HTGM (bid $0.05, ask $1.00)!!

I stupidly bought $2.5 September calls two weeks ago thinking “muh Covid play, it’ll run!” For $0.10 a piece. It’s a $0.60 stock lmao. I mean whatever sometimes this shit runs, especially the options on these pumpers (although admittedly this one play is fucking stupid). I am stupid though, so it works nicely.

Anyway, back to the spread...obviously it’s bullshit, I think.

But what the hell. Wouldn’t it be funny if....??

I move my ask on my remaining $2.5 contracts to $0.50 a piece. “Maybe this will be like Etherdelta fatfinger days!” Yeah, keep dreaming, I tell myself.

I take a nap. Wake up to a notification, “your HTGM option order was executed for $0.50.” Wake up with a buncha extra money in my account.

The ask moved right back down again. The fuck just happened????

Did I seriously get paid by some poor fatfingered soul on ThrobbincockHood? The best part is, the spread was back down to $0.05 bid, $0.15 ask, so I coulda gotten right back with my exact position not an hour earlier at less than 1/5 of my PROFIT.

Has this shit happened to anyone else? How can people be so dumb dumb?

I mean, someone literally paid me $50 a contract for the opportunity to purchase HTGM from me at a ~500% premium in September, basically. They shouldn’t even be worth $5 a contract.

Is this fuckery just what we can expect now with ThrobbincockHood? If so, let’s have some fun.

Do not long hold leveraged commodity futures etfs or vix tracking etf. Contango will kill your gains and you can see it in the charts for any of these. Steady slope DOWN.

It’s not emerging market, but I don’t trust it. When it comes to foreign, I want to know that they have the backing of a powerful central bank like the BOJ, BOC, or now that Germany and France are finally getting dovish, maybe even the ECB.

I don’t think the Bank of Israel has that kind of firepower. The shekel doesn’t have the status of the USD, EUR, or JPY. It’s not even as widely used as Swiss francs or probably even Swedish kroner.

That’s a lot of conjecture though, do you know something about their central bank? Oh and there’s some weird shit going on with politics right now, lots of difficulty Over getting enough support for one prime minister or something, last I checked. Or getting enough seats or I don’t know.

Cool thanks. Yeah the first thing I got into was the Vanguard total market index and the SPY but I also bough oil in the lows of 2015. AAPL has actually been my best long term purchase. I had bought tesla around 190 but sold it after a 15% bump. I have found that when I buy certain stocks for long term I have no care to sell even with a doubling in price since purchase but with other riskier stocks I will sell with gains over 10%. My first endeavor on actually pricing companies out was actually with AT&T and I was focused on assessing book values and free cash flow. I have done well averaging in with AT&T but it doesn't touch AAPL's growth. Furthermore, AAPL has been much more effecient with how they handle debt and their FCF. Only in the past month have I tried doing day trades. I set pretty strict guidelines for myself and I am not playing with more than 10% of my portfolio. I find that with long term investment the fundamentals are truly important and need to be paired with the right psychology for holding and averaging. With day trades the psychology seems much different and the fight/flight response sort of kicks in.

i understand but what I'm saying is going on a cruise is not as big of a fad as it once was. 20 years ago, people were jealous of their neighbors because they went on a cruise. Now you never hear anybody say "hey im going on a cruise". If you do you might think "boy it's been a while since I heard somebody went on a cruise".

Just look at the CCL or NCLH from 2016 to mid 2019. Carnival started at like $55 and june of 2019 it's $45. NCLH started @$55 and june 2019 it was like $48.

All I'm trying to ask is when you go to buy during a crash, why would you buy an already failing industry?

Please. I want to have a portfolio of worth. I have nothing else worthwhile in my life. Meaningless job, boring wife.
I just want to gloat about my net worth to the few people I know.
They all have advancing careers and wives that either love them or let them fuck around with thots.
None of them control spending, none of them have good assests. (single family homes that are old and money pits, cars, expensive clothes)
No savings, they drink at bars. Total normies.
I just want 100k net worth and some divvy income so I have one thing over them. I am the bottom bitch in the pecking order. They are growing more distant as my lifestyle falls further behind them.
If I could build a nice investment base, I could show them and walk away with my head held high. Knowing they can never do what I have done, they lack control of money.

Please. You anon friends are all I really love. Please help me win one thing in my shitty life. Do it for me, but also do it for us.

My income is low, but my spending is lower. I k ow I will make it one day like this, but I can't wait until my death bed to get my first social win.
I am researching business to buy, getting more education (lol school in your 30's truly a failure launch)
I just need a win. I don't want to off myself at 45 due to a life or failure. I need a win... please... I can't go on like this

pick good companies. Preferably ones you like, so you actually give a shit about following them.
>buy the dip
when things are falling, %-30 from ATH, or buy around 52wk low. use technicals to see if something is oversold. look at charts, notice those huge downward moves? that's the dip lad..

Nice poast anon, I agree.
Often what seems like the low risk approach actually ends up being the high risk appraoch in the future, in terms of likelihood of living a bad life. E.g. watching porn and not approaching girls, being lazy, playing videogames etc all seem like low risk things, but really you're risking success and fun in the future for some comfort today. Discomfort can teach you a lot of things and pain makes you strong.
