>>19753574
The company is barely 3 years old. You’re looking at its IPO price, when it was being hyped with no tangible product. They did have the research papers, the theoretical / lab work aspect, but it’s only now in 2020 that they are preparing to begin manufacturing. See >>19752348

In stuff like Physics and Mathematics it's really easy to spot the crackpots. I've heard that in this guy's case it was just because he made controversial claims about reversing aging in the next few years.

well
he himself never published any important discoveries in anti aging, and his formation is specialized in unrelated stuff such as artificial intelligence and what not. the scientific community heavily dislikes people who get famous in the media but never publishes anything significant. in the last few years his institute managed to get serious funding, infrastructure and researchers though, but as far as I'm concerned they never made any serious breakthroughs. as you mentioned, his claims about aging were very exaggerated with no evidence to back it up. there is also his beard. I don't see how this stem cell stuff is any different from other stem cells available in the market besides his own hype (although I'm a bioinformatician and know very little wet lab). if the idea is to sell these stem cells for therapy and not lab experiments this has everything to go to shit because you can't "treat" aging as it is not a disease and I don't think any doctor will
risk his/her medical license to treat anyone with that untested crap.

there is also the beard.

moreover, these anti aging institutes are infested with scammers and this market is very risky. there were many companies who tried to sell shit that "makes your telomeres longer" but there is also evidence it can cause cancer. it did not increase lifespan of rodents and the chief scientist had cancer and tried to hide it. years algo a company called Elysium tried to hype a shitty drug they claimed to be anti aging and nobody in any lab was able to reproduce the claims in rodents (and that was already being sold for human use). they got 80 million fucking dollars invested and the company went to shit. they got nobel prize winners backing it up lol

after that anti aging research got heavily demonetized and ruined it for everyone including my previous lab. it is possible de grey is doing it all over again with that bs hype

>> No.19754331

>>19754181
btw it makes me fucking furious when fuckers like these get millions of dollars just by hyping bullshit and publishing forged and unreproduceable results while I but my ass in the lab for years and make something useful and I'm paid pennies, don't get email replies from big labs even publishing important articles while trying to ride the stock market rollercoaster

“Paradigm” research trannies are the worst, basically rehashing the same old techniques over and over for very little progress, and in this field specifically Pharma paths, then they try to shit on the researchers doing actually novel research, in this case biotech (for no other reason than the tranny researchers themselves didn’t have the balls, so to speak, to try and break the paradigm). I’m trying to make money here, and it sure ain’t gonna be done with single molecules

to be very honest there are a few therapies in quality studies that are able to improve both health and lifespan in rodents but testing in humans is nearly impossible of course. many of these drugs however are not profitable as they can be manufactured by any company or are repurposed drugs. there is also a lot of politics going on and many good labs do not colaborate with each other. applying this field is very complicated and I'm almost regretting my life decisions

Also why are you so dead set on ageing not being a disease? I agree the whole anti ageing scene is scammy as fuck but I agree with the underlying premise. There are animals that are able to not age ever, like hydras. So it seems like a degenerative disease of compounding failures of various systems in the body which is widespread because the evolutionary process has use for organisms after they've shat out some offspring so it doesn't select for resiliency against these degenerations. In that sense ageing is in the same boat as any other late-onset disease like alzheimers, parkinsons, schizophrenia, etc. There's just no selective pressure to get rid of it.

>> No.19755100

look up the National Institute of Health and druage database

I don't want to recommend anything specific and be responsible for you killing yourself lol

besides those drugs there are a few surgeries such as visceral fat removal, pineal gland transplants in the thymus, bone marrow transplants and testosterone replacement at old age that also seems to work

CR works but the side effects and not eating are not worth it imo

>> No.19755172

>>19755043
I don't study hydras particularly because they life cycle is incredibly different from ours, they go through different lifestages and it is argueable if it is even the same living being.

whether aging is a disease or not is pure semantics and I was just refering to what the FDA thinks. what they think is important so you are allowed to run clinical trials. getting approval for human trials to treat something that is not a disease and thus risking their health for treating "nothing" is very difficult.

treating an aging associated disease is completely different from treating aging itself. it is arguable they are all caused by aging, but legally it is a different story. this might change in the next few years, but not now

I mean, I've already run the meme circuit of antiaging drugs, I've done resveratrol, C60, NAD+ precursors, berberine and aspirin, epitalon. The only big one I haven't gotten around to is rapamycin and I sure won't touch it now anyways since it's an immunosuppressant and I don't want to get the coof.

I was just wondering if there were any under the radar ones I'd missed. I'm not super keen on running out and downing a bottle of whatever thinking it'll take 10 years off of me if I megadose. I'm just garden variety longecity-tier retarded, not collossally retarded.
