If there’s consecutive modest losses, the Robinhood lemmings responsible for the real continued rise will either exit the market or move into shorts and puts and it’ll be terminal velocity. Or maybe they just continue to stampede and we crab then go up. But there won’t be a steady decline.

It's strange. I cheated death three times (ruptured appendix, drowning, traffic accident), and that's not including years of drinking and drugs that aren't heroin and meth. No matter who you are some people die along the way, but when it's an old bro or a lover it's very disturbing.
Being 40, mostly it's very isolating. My kids are ten and twelve, so I pretty much cut off all social contact about thirteen years ago, partly because everyone went hard Lefty and I stayed the same (kinda lolbertarian I guess). I really didn't start getting serious about personal finance until five years ago; before that it was just trying to keep the lights on and bread on the table without help from the gubmint. I regret all the money I pissed away at the bar, but I live very modestly so my kids can still do/have shit and I can put money aside. I have a great job now, too, and I'm debt-free.
To conclude my blogpost, I'd say I'm very fortunate in a lot of ways. I had way too much fun but I survived. Now I have books and a piano and a couple of guns. The kids are well. I probably won't quite make it but my kids probably will.

It seems they still haven't figured out why the sense of smell/taste problem happens. Some think it could be a neurological effect. Could be bad news for possibilty of virus laying dormant and becoming a recurrent illness.

>The herpes virus that causes chickenpox and shingles (VZV), for example, remains in our spinal cord cells for life.
>Most people in the US get oral herpes – or herpes simplex virus type 1 – by the age of 20. Following the first infection – usually after 1 or 2 weeks – the virus will become dormant in the facial nerve tissues.

But apparently everyone is on board with the ACE2 receptor knowledge now, and so the virus is apparently NOT primarily a respiratory illness, but the big problem is the epithelial cells in blood vessels. The virus appears to inhibit the ability of the circulatory system to vasodilate/vasoconstrict.

I never did any research into much of the "hard data" regarding the illness until now, and this is just from a recap in The Economist. I don't know where to go to get the better shit and catch up on what I've missed.

Honestly, the spikes in cases don't actually matter, as long as it doesn't get to the point where hospitals cannot handle anymore people. That's what the point of the lockdown was, and in that regard, it works (though trying to estimate how effective lockdown actually was is another story). Like when I read about cases spiking, I shrug. It means nothing. Nobody expected to eradicate the disease, so why are people shocked when cases go up somewhat?

nah man, it takes more balls to cut your losses than to just baghold believing the stock will go back to pre-march levels because of price memory.
Then it just gets worse when the price bogs down further because they fall into sunken cost mentality instead.

People who just bandwagon into the stock markets have no idea what a stop loss is or managing risk. How do I know this? I was like that too and so were my idiot friends.
The next step after this is that some of these people will have learned what a stop loss is and will be eager to secure their profits that way or sell off their shit entirely once they near breakeven (assuming they were lucky enough to have a pick that goes back up).

i know too well what it feels to baghold at -40% due to sunken cost and my eagerness to sell off once it miraculously went past break even after months of bagholding
