Welcome to XMR General!

Feel free to ask any questions you like and a Monero Chad will be with you shortly.

Most XMR threads are flooded with an influx of anons shilling coins that AREN'T Monero. They know we have one of the strongest communities in crypto, and they are here to get you to buy their bags.

If you're here to shill a non-monero project, please remember that you're a dickless cuck. Posting below confirms your acceptance of this incontrovertible fact.

https://www.monerooutreach.org/quick-facts.html
^ Monero 101 for anons who aren't familiar with the project and want to learn more. Even if you're a Chad, it's never bad to brush up on fundamentals.
///
https://www.monerooutreach.org/guerrilla-toolkit.html
Strategy for those in the community on how to do your part promoting monero to your peers and the world at large. (NOTE: we firmly encourage you to be a realist, not an optimist. If you're going to pitch monero to your friends and family, educate yourself first and tell them all the potential bad along with the definite good. No one should buy any crypto expecting that it's sure to moon, or that it couldn't all collapse like a house of cards. We have good reasons for thinking Monero has a bright future, but no one is Nostradamus.)
///

This is a new telegram chat for Monero Anons to be bros and to discuss how to improve the XMR community on /biz:

It's all guesswork, but I suspect that the surge in recent months is partly attributable to quarantine- more people inside, less drug dealers active, more incentive to explore DNMs and therefore Monero.

With increasing online demand and the tend to cashless society there will be a demand for privacy easy to buy and easy to sell without leaving the house for it actually.

Easy enough to store temporarily for daily purchases with cakewallet or other smartphone friendly apps.

Cold storage with GUI is a pain in the ass, yeah, but it can be used with a remote node to make things easier and quicker. The pain in the ass of downloading the whole chain is worth it for the increased privacy.

In small amounts, if you cash out at local monero, then yeah it's actually quite effective for that. One of the usecases we like to talk about is avoiding divorce rape.

That's more complicated, and I'm not an attorney so I can't give you anything like real advice (and would never advise anybody to commit a crime).

But, for the sake of conjecture, I'd think that if the inheritance has already been transferred to you, you're SOL.

If the person who is leaving you money were to buy monero with their assets and send it to you, I'd imagine it'd be mighty hard for any authority to prove you had that money. Be tougher to avoid taxes if you wanted to spend more than $10,000 of it at once, say on a car or for the down payment on a house, but if you were cashing out a grand or five every so often as your food, gas, groceries, and play money- be a lot tougher for anyone to pin down.

Lemme tell you though- I've seen a close friend go through an audit. It's not pretty. You're playing with fire when you cheat the tax man.

At current rates, $400K will buy me something like 20 middle-class apartments in a lot of decent cities (southern Brazil, inner Uruguay, southern Chile,etc...) which would generate enough income to live like the local upper-class without doing much at all.
If you pick a good country, those properties will increase in price and local currency will also do better vs USD, so you could double/triple your money in ten years while also living very well (you could easily get thirty different prostitutes each month, for example) and maybe developing new skills (you can get into a bunch of passable colleges for free in Latin America).
$400K will get you an overpriced house in the USA and that is it.
