Careful, I think we're closer to going parabolic ala 2000 rather than crashing down. From the picture: look at the rise to 2000, from there they slowly ground bears until 2600. 30%. Then every single bear got blown out for another 2000+ points. There were people getting run over the whole way up saying it can't go any higher. I circled and starred part of the chart that could be analogous to where we are now, but looking again the question mark part looks close too.

On Monday you could buy 100 shares of MRO for 8.00 and sell an 8 call expiring Friday for $60. How is this not retarded as fuck? 7.5% return for selling the shares for the price you bought at in a week seems like the freest shit of all time. I sold 3 but bought em back for a $5 profit bc I was bullish. Now wishing I had that downside protection but futures are green so who knows what will happen to MRO come friday

Facepalm I didn't realize they got so cheap today, could've bought more. IF their dividend goes back to normal AND they don't go bankrupt THEN they have quite a solid dividend, 50 cents per quarter. No surprise they were stable in the upper 10s precovid crash.

From my math, should the dividend go back to normal, you would be getting $1840 annually in dividends. Put another way, about $153.33 every month. Idk how much tax would reduce it tho.

>>19628864
>1400 shares
Should everything go back to normal for them that'd be $2800 anually or about $233.33 monthly. Idk on how much taxes would reduce it. Not bad that's about 1/10 of what my monthly expenses would likely be if I moved out of my parents home.

I want to sell them at 10+ or at least 12, provided it doesn't climb like a motherfucker and over-inflate rapidly to 20 or so on the bum rush to get in.

I want to sell so I can dump at least 4k into Pure Gold Mining. I can feel my nose grow more crooked and ever so long every time I see them posting new pictures on twitter of them excavating delicious gold.

>REITs need capital, just like any other corporation. The way a publicly traded REIT (real estate investment trust) does that is by IPO -- initial public offering. This is just like selling any other stock to the public, who are investing in the corporation's income-generating real estate. The people who buy IPOs are investing in real estate which is managed like a stock portfolio. These external funds that raise capital enable the REIT to buy real estate, develop and manage it, for the purpose of generating profits. REITs generate income, and 90 percent of that taxable income must be distributed to the shareholders on a regular basis. REITs make money from the properties they purchase by renting, leasing or selling them. The shareholders choose a board of directors, who are the ones responsible for choosing the investments and for hiring a team to manage them on a daily basis.

Is there any scenario that you can think of that might cause them to stop generating income

It's a company none of you know anything about within a sector that none of you know anything about. There's maybe one anon in a hundred who knows anything appreciable about it. You can't trade something you know nothing about with any conviction, which means you're just blindly hoping line goes up. When it doesn't you panic. Now that a bunch of novice traders who know nothing about the company or industry are sitting at losses, they're desperate to break even which puts resistance in at those levels. If it continues to fall it's going to completely shit the bed.

I mean enjoy your trades but it's like some of you are either masochists while others just hate making money. Then there's the occasional Judas Goat who leads the rest to random shit like this. How did this one random stock that no one's ever heard of become a thing on /biz/ to begin with. Do any of you even stop to ask that question? Why this one of all of them?

Eh fuck it why do I bother.

You don’t. Just buy Denny’s because you’re optimistic on their future business as the economy reopens. If you want to buy more than a tiny bit, then look into their debt and growth and all that good stuff.

If you don't understand what you are doing I would recommend investing in oil companies (exxon, bp, MRO, PE) etc as examples, if oil goes up they will go up as well but you won't implode your shit if oil goes down, you might just have to hodl for a year or so.

For all I know you work at Waffle House corporate and are in a great position to evaluate Denny's. Now am I saying you can't luck out on some random bullshit stock? No. I'm simply saying that of all the options you have, why the hell would you choose that of all things. And not you singularly but you as in so many anons on this board.

Thanks for the rundown. Learned more about reits as I didnt fully understand them even last year. Logically speaking reits are likely in the clear.
>if joe can't pay rent, then company gets no money, company cant keep getting no money or they go bankrupt, leaves joe homeless as bank repossessed homes are like easier to evict tenants, fed steps in to prevent a big crisis, once things level off reits return to business as usual.

Basically if reits go down every other stock that isnt an reit will likely go down with them.

The economy (read: the market) is what Donald's reelection is hinging on. Without a robust stock market, he loses the election. He's not going to let the market crash, if it fucking kills him.

Search your heart, you know it to be true.

Anyone actually good at the economy here? I have a question. Let's say a certain company (IVR) will pay it's dividents in 20 days with the equivalent value of shares instead of cash. The yield will be decaded based on the stock performance on 16,17 and 18 of June.
What does this mean to the stock? Will it dump on 16, 17 and 18 so people will get more cheap stock to pump it later, or will it rather pump so they'll get stronger shares? Does this also mean that on 3 0 of June their stock will crumble as people cash out their shares? So the share price will never return to ATH ever again?

Don’t worry, the meme virus only kills about 120 people out of 10,000 and only 30 of those are under 65 years old. If you’re not old, fat and retarded and you’re not one of those 30, or that one million under 65 who will die at the Scale of America, you have nothing to worry about. But if you’re old fat and retarded there will be about 90 of you who die out of every 10,000, about 3 million Americans, so you had better watch out.

The truth is we have only seen a small taste of covid so far because we did lockdowns quickly. Now that Chad and Stacy have decided they’ve had enough of not being able to eat popcorn in movie theaters or whatever dumb shit they do, it’s about to get real. The number of dead are about to go up by 10x to 40x and none of the people laughing at this are able to show you any recent studies or math that back them up, their entire argument is that their infantile attention span is used up and that because they will probably be fine, millions probably won’t die (and if they do who cares since many of them are fat and old and most importantly not me).

Let’s all laugh and point at them. Although in reality it probably only means they will get access to hospital care before the hospitals get overwhelmed.
It should be remembered that as low a figure as 3-4 million dead Americans is only true given a flattened curve where the hospitals aren’t overwhelmed. It could easily be another million dead, plus all those non-covid cases that die from no care. The general public will not trust society again for a long time.

Last time I checked Sweden had more than 10x the dead per capita compared to its neighbors and is now being specifically told by European countries opening their borders that Swedes will not be welcome. Sweden is also going through a rude awakening as they had assumed the number of asymptomatic infections would be way higher and that they would be approaching herd immunity (60%-80% infected population). Turns out less than 10% of the hardest hit hotspots were infected and that unlike their claims that covid was comparable in lethalite to the flu, it turns out covid is about 12x as lethal as the flu and spreads way faster.
The real reason behind the Swedish “strategy” is that they have blown all their money and then some on mass immigration. They can’t afford any sort of lockdowns and they couldn’t enforce it among the immigrants without starting riots they can’t control.

"failed to contain the virus"

First, that was never the intention of lockdown, it was to prevent hospitals from being overrun. Sweden failed to protect it's retirement homes, which account for 50% of the deaths in sweden from Corona.

You actually only need Sweden as an example to show that lockdown was not needed. Outliers exist, however, theres no fundamental reason to believe that Sweden is magical and somehow doesn't have rising deaths despite no lockdown.

Once again, you're under the presumption that lockdown works in a substantial manner. If you actually looked up for hard evidence of that being true, you won't find it.

>“It is huge. Still, it’s Nvidia’s system, which is why that stock roared, too,” he said. “Artificial intelligence [has] no need for a tailwind.”

Has the market realized this and priced it in, or are they slowpokes like you? Last time the crash came about a month after the math was clear that a best-worst case range had about 4 million dead at the worst end. Now the math is clear that we are at that worst end. How long will it take the market to understand basic math this time? The big players have obviously figured it out before me, just like the last crash, but the crash doesn’t come until it starts to dawn on retail bulls.

meme flu which is actually a cold kills the same people as regular flu
regular flu kills 600k (estimate) in a bad year, while meme flu isn't even close to that despite suicides and accidents while being meme flu positive are being counted (in Germany at least)
i have not taken it seriously at any point and am proven right day and day again

>It's the mentality that perplexes me.
Oh no I definitely agree with that just found it odd you were getting rather but it makes sense now considering I'm mad about them memeing a pick I never mentioned prior to the pump. They fomo'd in which makes a stock I went in hard that I think has potential look like a meme. Now with that the stock is likely at the mercy of weak hands dumping it to pre 4chan/reddit discovery and making it look like a scam OR it pumping back to former prices a lot sooner which would be a win for me as I intend to keep some shares for passive income.

My family is in Sweden, I’m very familiar with their chart, and since about a week their cases have gone from linear to resuming exponential growth, deaths usually lag these developments by one-two weeks. Sorry but Sweden will not turn out to be a comforting example. In fact, do you know what the man behind the Swedish strategy says? He says that oh, sure, of course Sweden is fucked, he’s not disputing that, he just points out that everyone else is fucked too since nobody can really afford lockdowns long enough to wait for a vaccine.
You have no idea what’s coming.

What with the rioters causing havoc and not being stopped AND companies bending over to virtue signal I doubt most are gonna obey the government even if covid cases surge. May be the collapse of the usa in which case my stocks are pointless unless i cash out asap and quickly exchange it for anoher currency.

This is a tech takeover, and it's very hostile. Notice most of the protests are being spearheaded in tech heavy areas. I'm looking for new tech companies atm. I dont' think airlines will crash though, travel is going to dip and rise, tech is going to keep rising. USA isn't going to collapse it's just going to look a lot different, that being said I hope they can stop all this.

I'm worried about my REITs, but if they play this right they could come out like the airlines.
