BIG DIX edition

Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

Upgraded in December. Then downgraded to Neutral when COVID happened. Then upgraded again June 8, 2020.

The upgrade happened June 8, 2020.
All oil and energy stocks were red. Most of them went down in After hours as well.

all of 4chan should be NSFW boards and then uploaders get to tag their images as safe for work if they wish, and browsers can set a cookie to show non-safe images

i'm almost only browsing blue boards nowadays but i really miss being able to post everything. there are many funny nsfw images i want to be able to post.

i'd rather have the system above + have some boards allow porn threads and others disallow porn threads. (meaning it's ok to post the occasional porn image for fun but not porn dump on every board.)

They have huge fucking loans and are required by law to pay profits as dividends. But people and even corporations have not been paying rent for months. Even if they survive, the stock will probably not recover because they will likely have additional debt, decreasing their asset values, and have lower income. If they don't survive, then the bank takes over and holders get fucked.

We all know J's not gonna raise rates, and he's not fooled by one good jobs report into changing policies.

The big topic that COULD be embraced by Pow is Yield Curve Control. I hadn't thought about this, but wouldn't a policy of YCC basically boost Net Interest Margin for all of the banks, especially the big 4?

Is this a possible big boost to the health of the banking system, and to the bottom line of JPM, C, BAC, WFC?

I'm too scared to lose my money, I wish I was brave enough when I see people posting stuff like +30k in one day. I do them very rarely and only ever betting under 1k. Its just too often a gamble and high risk. Plus I'd always sell too early (OTM calls) with a slight profit instead of waiting a few days for a potentially bigger gain.

Rate hike right now would be bad for the Fed, nevermind the markets. And let's be clear here, rate hike RIGHT NOW would be responded to with more than a little tantrum. It would waste a sizeable chunk of the QE already spent at this point. The only reason Jerome would have to do it now is maybe slow inflation slightly. Inflation is by no means out of control or much outside desired parameters yet.

If Trump hadn't set the precedent of pointing out the Fed's political power in throwing elections they would certainly be planning on a hike. Since Trump has shined a light on it that's no longer a guarantee. There's a good chance he'll wait a while before hiking, but it wouldn't surprise me if there's a small hike just to signal to the market that we're in a rising-rate environment and to expert more leading up to November (and 2022 election season).

Three months of furloughs, layoffs, hour cuts, commission erasures. The vast majority of Americans, who live on the edge of insolvency, have now plunged into it. Did you think the little scraps from the master's table, that puny child's offering of two grand, would save them? Let the foreclosures, evictions, and bankruptcies begin.

You've had your la-la land of delusions and fantasy for the past couple of months, shielded from the consequences of your hubris by various moratoria on debt (which are soon expiring), now you will be sucked into the wild whirlpool of deflation and plumb its darkest depths. I laugh and lick my lips like an old Jew, having used this brief pause to heap puts into my portfolio, cackling madly not at my great fortune, but your imminent demise. If only my contracts were written by you! What pleasure it would be to suck on fine lobster and devour meaty steak, knowing that it all was paid for by your poverty and misfortune!

The age of bulls is over, the time of the bear has come.

the good news is that the market is so bad deflation is the immediate threat.
the Fed is hoping they wont have to deal with inflation for a year or two. maybe once the economy is a bit better, they can jack up interest rates to fight it.

my suspicion is that that's why they've kept rates so low for so long. they got inflation to exactly where they want it. why up rates and ruin that perfect number?

>facts
The history of the run up is all you need, starting with the 2008 QE which continued through 2016, then the compounding effect of debt based expansion and buybacks in the low rate environment from 2012 - present, especially in 2019. The most efficient use of additional capital for the benefit of shareholders was the buyback. In the low rate environment, corps obtained such large debt obligations that they choked after missing 3wks of revenue in Q1 2020. They were already strangling themselves on YoY before corona in '19 Q3 and Q4 earnings. These are broad statements, so they do not apply to all corps, but due to comovement, all equities are at risk. The top heaviness of the indexes should also be somewhat scary and might support the argument that access to credit is holding up the market. We will continue running into solvency issues moving forward from corps up and down the board due to their inefficient use of capital for the company (buybacks at high prices are very inefficient for a corp). we would have done this without Corona's revenue shock. So many times this has to have been posted. So many damn times that it should just go into the fucking sticky. Do what you want with the info. You will be able to make money going long. You have been warned of the level of risk you may be assuming. The floor for the S&P might be around 1200. I'm not supporting that speculation.

>impossible to happen thanks to automated passive investing/saving
That's likely for the indexes, but not necessarily true for components. The capital flows through passive funds can offset some of the extra swing in the index, but like we saw with particular stocks and sectors in March (banking and industrials come to mind) the discrepancy in price action vs tech might tell us about how these automated forces will work in the event of another revenue shock. With a slow roll of bankruptcies thanks to fed reassurance in the credit markets, the equities markets will broadly be more efficient than the March leg down.
