There is no difference between dividend, appreciation, and buybacks at a fundamental level. If you want cash you can sell stock at any time. You don't have to get it via a dividend. It just means the company can't compound it themselves so they give it to you.

I will rebalance weight when certain companies catch back up. The ones at 4% weight are all basic low growth, consistent companies that don't get beat up too much from the economy moving around. The ones at 25% I think have the highest growth potential in the shortest time. The ones at 10-12% I think have growth potential but in longer time. I honestly might dump SO and bring the weight down to 3% each giving my ~10% allocation in low growth but Im still figuring all this stuff out so need some safety.

Theres been around 20 posts in this thread and SSL has been mentioned in 3 posts already. If this isn't a sign to you to stay away or sell then maybe you should stay out of the market
