Google beta slippage
Holding leveraged etfs means you benefit during the right rise (bull) or fall (bear) but slowly bleed out in crab (even if on average its at the same spot for a long time). Beta slippage gets worse at higher leveraging ratios. The "optimum" tradeoff between consistent gains versus beta-slippage has been found empirically to be ~2-3x which is why most of the leveraged ETFs are around that range.

Are you joking? It seems like tons of people are on unemployment and food bank lines are jacked up. Its mostly poor people I guess so its tough to notice if you mostly work from home. Its going to be really interesting when the unemployment boost and PPP end.

But even still, it seems people are saying "seems normal" should value stocks at pre-crash bubble levels. Unemployment is still great depression levels even after the "strong" jobs reports. And its not like the economy was strong before hand, really weak GDP growth, stocks seemed overvalued in jan. So now we are undeniable in a worse position, and stocks are back to same levels...

You have decide, are holding for 10+ years? Because after bubbles like in 2000 it may take 10+ years to recover. You also have to make sure you're holding good companies, since 100% of all companies will eventually go to zero, and certainly 90% of them sooner rather than later. Broad indices of course will trend up but not individual stocks.

So if you aren't willing to hold for 10 years, or you are in stocks you aren't confident will still be in business in 10 years, then the "buy and hold" plan shouldn't be a fallback. You should have some exit plan. Especially since the downside risk to stocks is so big right now at these sky high prices.

The good ones barely move in stable markets. The capital appreciation alone is what you want since really low yields typically serve as an indicator for absolutely solid financials. Literally the only reason to buy/hold right now is because you "trust" the federal reserve to keep propping up your bags.

Otherwise we are back at all time highs, which was a bubble back in jan, and the economy went into recession in fed, before the covid lock downs. Except now its forecast GDP will be -50%, and jobs will be lost when PPP runs out.

If covid never existed stocks wouldn't probably be this high. Fed policy is the only reason people are buying.

probably nothing, but if it bumps up, the news will say it was based on fed reassurance. we might end up with pressure on long dated treasuries. I can't really think of anything else. He's been very consistent with what he's said. there aren't really any material updates to things. He's not in charge of PPP or any of the fiscal policy so he might, might mention something about PPP and say that the regulators need to make sure that more jobs stick at the end of September, which might be bearish for a few corps, but really it's nothing new.
