> Following the spirit of signature batching, an approach that goes even further is to take the entire computation off the blockchain. In order to do so securely, we use a clever economic hack: the code still goes on the blockchain, and gets recorded there, but by default the computation is decided by oracles which run the code off-chain in a private EVM and supply the answer, also providing a security deposit.

It honestly blows my mind that Vitalik was anticipating the value of off chain second layer computation with on chain settlement that far back in time. Absolutely visionary in the realest sense of the word. Interesting mention of RNG too.

It's a serious question, assuming ETH 2.0 achieves scaling, would something like Arbitrum be invalidated or does it still have purpose as an alternative scaling solution?

Could this be a possibility? If he endorsed link could it drive a wild speculative bubble that would potentially derail the project? or is that a dumb thought

>> No.19606221

>>19606142
theory: arbitrum was developed in part because the chainlink team got tired of waiting for eth devs to get their thumb out of their ass and get eth2.0 up and running.
as a result whenever eth 2 does actually release any important functions it adds for connecting on-and off-chain systems will already be served by arbitrum/chainlink nodes. they took too long and chainlink already worked around them.

Computational batching via chainlink+arbitrum will greatly reduce gas costs. That’s the whole point of it. So even if Eth 2.0 does 1 billion transactions a second it’d absolutely still be a gamechanger.

I am new to shitcoins but from the way vitalik pumps loopring a couple times a week for off-chain vlk rollups, and never mentions chainlink, this sounds plausible to me. Do you have the proofs?
