I put $50k in stocks beginning in mid-April and so far I have been able to pull out 2 lots of $6k gains in moon missions to switch over to a Roth IRA (my 2019 and 2020 contribution) and more stable stocks which I am planning on leaving for 30 years to then pass on as my kids inheritance.

My original account is currently at $54k and I feel like even if nothing changes, I did something for my kids and I got 1 month bonus pay.

It was an after-the-fact decision. I was see how much I could grow the $50k and use it all as a big deposit on a house later this year, but the volatility of day trading and hoping for mooning stocks was getting to me so I decided taking out some of the gains and putting them in more stable stocks would be a good idea to at least conserve some of my gains. It would have been much more beneficial to start with the $12k in the Roth, but I don't want to gamble inheritance/retirement. It was a state-of-mind type decision.
