SENT is not a normal centralized VPN but a dVPN it allows anyone to host a dVPN node and sell their own bandwidth, so you will be able to host a node during the night and browse for free during the day.
theidea is for sentinel to do to bandwith what uber did to taxis, anybody can become a bandwidth seller.

Anyone seen Orchid? Tried the Android app but not as good as Sentinel’s. Also,
Orchid’s tokenomics don’t stack up and they are building on ETH whereas Sentinel are building on Cosmos and Tendermint which seems much more viable for the future. Thoughts?

there are 3 types of sent nodes:
-relay nodes (the ones consumers will host, you will have no problem as you never see the unencrypted data)
exit nodes (have the same risk as tor exit nodes, this is tought for people that want to a take higher risk for a higher reward, those people can host a exit node, thats a pretty big pool of people, and all data centers in non five eyes jurisdctions
sentinel will become as decentralized as tor with the added benefit that people that run tor nodes can host a sentinel node at the same time and actually get payed for their very useful service

you will not have to buy eth or sent to use sentinel. The goal is to have whitelabel vpn partners so that most users are not even aware they are using a dvpn, they just pay regularly over paypal or whatever and the whitelabel vpn partner uses the sentinel network in the background.

Seems like a nice project, but I fail to see how having a 1000 smaller barely used vpns can compete against the likes of Nord or Express. They are established brands people will be attracted to. That is the goal, Sentinel being the backbone of other big commercial vpns and the user not knowing they use something with cryptocurrency in the background.

Now why should vpn companies use sentinel in the background?

- no administrative overhead
- software to admin all node,.. is provided to them by sentinel

vpn market is growing for a reason cause government surveillance is becoming more widespread and better funded, something that i think will be very likely is governments shutting down centralized vpn providers (like they are doing already in russia and have already done in china) sentinel offers a censorship resistant alternative to normal services.
vpn total market cap is huge and climbing if you see a place in it for an alternative then sent is the the right buy, sent services will also be cheaper and more secure.
