Heres information for covered calls next week June 9-12. This information is current as of close on June 4th.
This coming week there were very few promising earnings reports coming out, just 4. They are all rather bearish so I am thinking of selling deep ITM calls to protect from downside.

Ticker, Price, Rating, Strike, Premium as % of current price
PLAY 19.48, Bearish, 19.5C 12.3%
GME 4.47, Bearish, 4.5C 11.0%
CHWY 49.11, No rating, 49.5C 6.5%
PLCE 48.80, Bearish, 50.0C 6.3%

Previous weeks:
Week May 11-15 = +8.5%
DKNG +8.5%

Week May 18-22 = +2.0%
HPE -0.5%
HPQ +1.0% (Held)
FL +2.4%

Week May 25-29 = +1.5%
AAL +0.2% (Partial Hold)
JWN +3.3% (Held)
HPQ -6.7% (Held)
NTNX +4.0%
TNA +10.6% (Held)

Week June 1-5 (current)
HPQ +0.0% (Plan to close)
JWN +14.7% (Plan to close)
This week I used capital to purchase SWBI (+7%), VSTO (+1%), and CRWD (+4%). Plan to close CRWD, might close VTSO, planing to hold SWBI for earnings in 2 weeks.

Let me start by saying I wish I never had to send this email.

I wish that the lives of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and countless others weren’t so violently cut short. I wish that institutional racism, and the police violence it gives rise to, didn’t cause their deaths. I wish that all members of our Black community felt safe enough to move around their cities without fear. I wish that I didn’t have to try to find the words to explain all of this to my two young sons.

But I’ve been given hope this week by hundreds of thousands of peaceful protestors demanding change. I am committed to being part of that change.

As a company, we believe that everyone has the right to move freely, no matter where they live or the color of their skin. We’re proud of how Uber has helped improve transportation equity over the last decade. But the reality remains that Black Americans often don’t feel safe to move freely in many places around our country. And they still face enormous barriers that others do not.

This is a reality we should not perpetuate or accept. We must do better.
We know there is no easy solution to the problems we have faced for centuries. We also know that we need to devote our time, energy and resources toward making a difference. That’s why we’re making a number of commitments that we will uphold not just this week, but for years to come:
We are committed to driving lasting change through criminal justice reform.

On Sunday, we announced a $1 million donation to the Equal Justice Initiative and Center for Policing Equity to support their important work in making racial justice in America more than just a promise.
We are committed to creating a community that treats everyone equally and with dignity. We do not tolerate discrimination, harrassment or racism on our platform, as outlined in our Community Guidelines. We will hold everyone who uses Uber accountable to these standards of basic respect and human decency. I respectfully ask anyone not willing to abide by these rules to delete Uber.
We are committed to supporting the Black community. As a starting point, we will use Uber Eats to promote Black-owned restaurants while making it easier for you to support them, with no delivery fees for the remainder of the year. And in the coming weeks, we will offer discounted rides to Black-owned small businesses, who have been hit hard by COVID-19, to help in their recovery.
We are committed to making Uber a diverse and inclusive place for people of color to work and thrive. While we have more work to do, we have tied our senior executives’ pay to measurable progress on our diversity goals, and will continue to publish data on our workforce so the public can hold us accountable. We’re also committed to expanding opportunities for drivers and delivery people, including through education opportunities and skills training.
We know this isn’t enough. It won’t be enough until we see true racial justice. But we plan to work day in and day out to improve, learn, and grow as a company.

Lastly, let me speak clearly and unequivocally: Black Lives Matter.

Alibaba has grown at a significantly slower rate than Amazon and Shopify over the last five years. Is this due to the larger percentage of the Chinese population that lives on dirt compared to North American populations? And if so, can we expect Alibaba to be trading at $700-$1000 a share five years from now as the Chinese get more wealthy? I'm also concerned that the market is already too fractured with Pinduoduo and JD.com and we won't see monolithic growth.

TL;DR is Alibaba going to blow up like Amazon in five years and should I buy some?

>what's the future of semi-conductors
The future? Of semis? Baggy, reframe. Semiconductors quite literally *are* the future. Semiconductors are crack in all but name. The desire for newer, faster, more is insatiable. Computers, GPUs, self-driving electric cars, AI enhanced smartphones, medical devices, microcontrollers, networking gear, machine learning, surveillance, infrastructure, military, the list goes on. No matter how many cores, how fast or efficient, demand requires bigger, faster, cheaper, better. The clamor for fresh silicon gives nary shit for national identity, creed, hue, gender or other vain conceit; the multitude speaks in singular. The plea: semiconductor.
SOXL couples a single ETF entry point with the the best companies the space has to offer then pushes these already stellar returns to the limit with 3x leverage. With SOXL your economic interests are aligned with hardware powerhouses TSMC, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Intel, Broadcom, AMD, Micron, Texas Instruments, Applied Materials, et al. Real tech companies with innovative products people want, not """tech""" """companies""" pushing shitty ads. And like all leveraged ETFs, SOXL is rebalanced daily, accelerating gains in an upmarket while deftly mitigating margin risks when down.
In the last 7 years, barring the coronavirus interruption, SOXL has exploded over 55x yet still we are early. Semiconductor growth will proceed exponentially until every viable space is saturated with it. This is a fait accompli; the sheer number of interested parties and compelling outcomes make it so. The injection of increasingly compact and efficient sensors, microcontrollers, information processing and storage into everything and everywhere will be this era's seminal revolution, a revolution with SOXL holders planted firmly at the receiving end.
Stop waiting for more "pullback". The crash was a gift and fretting over the exact bottom is meaningless. Waiting.. is a failure mode. Now. Buy it now.

Its fine as long as youre comfortable holding that long. In this case you would wait to sell the calls after the stock rises or volatility increases. The only issue I have is that the market is highly volatile so things can turn any second, which is exaggerated for stocks that already have high premiums. What I try to do is get in the week ahead and sell the calls the same day or the next day to lock in profits.

Arguably yes, considering many people are now advocating for 1-3 ETF portfolios (just not with leveraged ETFs).

The main issue with these is that there an unknown level of survivorship bias. It's basically like building a portfolio that is 100% Amazon and saying "wow look at this portfolio it does amazing compared to SPY!"

On the other hand, there is a lot of statistical research on why index investing is a good strategy, and there is some compelling mathematics on why 2x or 3x leveraged investing can be successful in the long run.

High $$ earners make frequent contributions to their qualified accounts. I get requests to liquidate losing MFs for what I assume are tax harvesting opportunities, but the underlying reasoning is beyond me.
Advisors are frequently bringing on new assets from client's redeeming annuity contracts. I have to imaging that would be a profitable endeavor, convincing 70+ y/o clients to redeem annuities so your firm would earn 2% for "managing" a fixed income portfolio.

I sell about 8-10% above strike, it might look like a small premium but it adds up.
Consider this math:
You buy 100 shares of TNA at $30
Every week you sell on average $60
In 50 weeks, you just made 100% of your investment PLUS whatever TNA is worth.
This works even if it goes down because the PRICE of the premium is unaffected by the price of the underlying stock. As long as the volatility remains high, premiums will be high.

For reference, I bought TNA at $24, and sold calls each week.
First at $23.50 for $140, then bought back for $33 during a dip to not be assigned.
Then $28.50 for $50, expired.
And currently $30 for $50. I might get assigned this time but that means I sell it for $30, over 20% of my initial buy in. If it dips tomorrow, it expires worthless, otherwise I may be assigned then I just buy back the next dip or do the same strategy on a different stock.

They are extorted. There are companies that perform sensitivity training and get paid big bucks for it. I don't know if you remember the whole debacle with the briefcase during the 2016 election but the head of the DNC was literally on record threatening the police chief that if he didn't get the briefcase to her she would force his department to pay out the ass for equal opportunity and sensitivity training. When this stuff becomes government mandated for all police stations, you could invest in the companies that do this training and make bank. If you ever wonder why there are rich democrats, that's why. They use laws to extort and watch their stock options explode. I know a few of them and I have watched it happen.

for example: https://corporatetrainingmaterials.com/products/Workplace-Diversity?msclkid=3559201db7181bb893457ec462187e18&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=01s%3A%20us&utm_term=sensitivity%20training&utm_content=diversity

That's a 500 dollar packet. Wow. So now they are getting these companies to do this shit or they are going to have some complaints coming their way and they will probably lose more money in the long run paying for training courses.

2) Trump escalating/resuming/poking the trade war

The money printer is all that matters. It will even override Chinese trade concerns. And it isn't just the money printer in the US. Any printer pumping out fiat will inflate equities because
a) fear of inflation
b) best ROI for any corporation is buying back shares with loans since demand is shot anyway for at least a couple quarters ("PENT UP DEMAND" is a very short lived meme for only a handful of industries)
c) TINA
There is a sugar euphoria going on right now that is impervious even to things that made it "nervous" a year ago like trade wars.

If you guys cant figure out why its going up, there is no hope. If youre little ass brain comes up with some reason like "people are spending more", "people are optimistic", "hope", "everything is fine"...youre a sub human baby brained moron.

the fed. Jerome even said theyve only lent $300b and it was leveraged to over $2.3t in loans. Theyve gotten the go ahead to purchase Trillions in bonds....which will be leveraged infinitely by the banks because the banks at this point have no fractional reserve. Banks will magically create $50trillion dollars. They dont give a fuck...they'll just keep giving loans to pay loans.

Stocks are not going up, you just need more money to buy the same shit.

>You think they just put that into savings?
And do you think it's going to be enough to cover all of their debts, in addition to their daily living needs? As of now, the PUA ends in July. The CARES act PPP-related loans/grants have a mandated employment period covering September, after which employers can begin laying off employees. Many employers are already attempting to get employees out the door early so that they can start trimming operating costs now, before they matter due to revenue declines becoming longer lasting. Some companies, for example, some airline companies, have already announced they'll be laying off up to 10%, 20%+ or more of their work force as soon as they are legally allowed to do so.

The unemployment system and PPP are extremely inefficient as it stands, and are bogged down by those inefficiencies in getting the money where it needs to go. On top of that, this week saw the first increase in continuing unemployment claims. Keep in mind we'll be seeing high unemployment levels near-term, which will be exacerbated if small businesses are allowed to fall. If the acceptance rate of PPP small business loan applications is an indicator, those failures are a very real possibility.

Now, all of these people by necessity will need to save due to uncertainty in their future employment prospects. As such, where is the increased discretionary spending going to come from that would otherwise fuel corporate revenues? Once these companies can't maintain current operating costs, where are they going to start trimming?

>People with money are spending.
Not yet. It was the lower income earners that were buying heavily the last few months while higher income earners were saving.

>>19528160
Nice. The problem being that the banks are tightening credit requirements and the money isn't being loaned to the degree that would otherwise be expected, meaning it's not, in reality, moving out into the broader economy quickly enough.

It's all about Fed liquidity right now, and that is winding down compared to two months ago. Hopefully we'll get an update today as to their weekly change in the balance sheet. There are diminishing returns to monetary policy, as we've seen Powell make the case again and again for additional fiscal stimulus. The credit market is stable. The Fed vol. put is working for now.
