yeah that's something I've looked at too. You could be right. I think that there is a possibility that we will step up our silver recycling game though. IIRC, Japan has been reclaiming precious and non-precious metals from almost all appliances, electronics etc for many years now. Not much ends up in landfills there. It might not be "cost effective" in the U.S. right now, but if silver reaches $3000/oz I'd bet we'd step up the recycle/reclaim biz quick.

Well with all the applications I would be surprised if production keeps up. I've only looked at the scrap numbers and don't know much about the process. I wonder how well they are able to refine it(can they get .999? is the scrap still usable in all industrial applications?). We go through silver so fast and have no stockpile.

A nice wildcard to keep the hopium up is the idea that mexico will remonetize silver. There have been politicans calling for it and there is a long tradition of silver being used in the peso.

>"We have more than a decade in which international demand is not reflected in future contracts. This manipulation of the markets makes Mexican silver undervalued"

this statement is from a speech made to mexican congress. They understand the manipulation and there are already rumbles. If this were the case a large portion of the silver will be eaten up by the new currency(and mexico produces so much silver that they could viably do this and re-enrich their citizens)

>COMMITMENT TO ENVIRONMENT – SCOTTSDALE MINT IS GREEN!

>A portion of our silver and gold products have been recovered from the
photography and manufacturing industry. This award-winning recycling
process refines the highest purity materials to a final percentage of
.999 or greater which meets or exceeds ASTM purity standards. Every
ounce recycled saves the energy and environmental impact of mining new
metal. When you buy from Scottsdale Mint you are doing your part to
support an environmentally responsible business.

So they use the weasel words "a portion of" which to me suggests it's not most, but some is better than none. If things go that way vis-a-vis $3k/oz silver and not much coming out of the ground leading to a rush towards recycling/reclaiming... Scottsdale will have the infrastructure and processes in place, putting them in a pretty good position. IMO.

Excellent read, thanks for the article fren.
It make total sense for the mexibros to do this. First because they know what's coming, and how the FED want desperately to provoke inflation via infinite QE. The issue is since most shitholes uses the USD as a collateral for their debts and international trades, the US simply export their own inflation, weakening others currencies while asserting dominance for the USD as global reserve currency. Normies think the FED go brrr to save the stonks, but the real reason is to destroy all the others currencies to keep a positive balance sheet for imports (since the dollar is the only thing the US still export).
And the first trading partner with the US in volume is... Mexico. So they very well know the US will have free imported meal while the pesos get destroyed.

Secondly, silver make sense for Mexico more than for any other country, they are the main producers worldwide, yet 80% of their production end up being sold well below the real price on the COMEX, sometimes even under extraction costs. And it pisses them off to no end, they'd prefer silver to be reevaluated, or at least consumed domestically as an hedge against inflation, while also being a tool to strengthen the pesos.
Cf this paragraph :
>Mexico ranks first as a global silver producer. Unfortunately, according to the Mining Chamber of Mexico, about 80% of the silver leaves the country, and is auctioned off in the New York Stock Exchange at ridiculously low prices. We have more than a decade in which international demand is not reflected in future contracts. This manipulation of the markets makes Mexican silver undervalued, the silver mining industry can not progress, or even be forced to close mines despite the certainty that there is silver in them.

That said, the title of the article is misleading, they do not want to monetize silver, by this i mean they do NOT want to have a silver-backed pesos. They want silver to remain a commodity so it adjust to the global trends. They know how valuable -and currently underpriced- silver is. If they give it a fixed value rn, it will only end up remaining undervalued. Instead they want the mexicans to use it as an investment vehicle, which will serve a double purpose : keep silver in a national market so it doesn't leave the country (which will also allow mines to make bigger profits) and more importantly, squeeze silver approvisioning for the ETFs/LMBA/COMEX. By provoking a shortage of silver (Mexico produce like 15% of the silver worldwide, it's a huge strategic tool), they make the manipulation occuring on the paper market even more blatant. Who will still trust the COMEX spot when a physical oz will carry a 500% premium, or more? Doing so they are fucking up the alrdy ridiculously low collateralization (currently 1:174).

Sadly this kind of initiative will probably not see the light until the situation is deemed very critical, because it would lead to a lot of tensions with the US, and for now, most mexican politicians are US whores, and would not hesitate to continue being traitors to their people just to get them juicy corruptionbux.

Yeah it can be a bit complicated to understand, fren.
All this to say : we are getting megabullish news for silver on a fucking DAILY basis lately. Institutional investors are very well aware bonds, equities, derivatives (CDO CDS), real estate and the stonks are in a huge virtual bubble backed by nothing, and they want the least risky portfolio possible. The only place left is in tangible assets, especially in PMs. For the moment it's a fool play of musical chairs, but the minute the confidence break down, there will be a rush to PMs and the clown confettis fiat will become the hot potatoes no one want to hold anymore. 95% of the digicash existing worldwide is just hot air, numbers on a screen. Only greed is limiting the money velocity for now, that's why keeping propping up the numbers/dividends -and suppressing PMs prices- is VITAL for the clownshow to continue, so ppl don't use their money to buy real stuff who doesn't exist.
All above ground silver existing is marketed at 43.9 billions USD. Most companies with a cotation on the nasdaq could buy out every single oz in existence. Now compare it to the 1.4 quadrillions in derivatives.. Imagine just how incredibly bullish if just a tiny portion of this fake money want to get a silver hedge against fiat currencies. It would be the biggest moon mission in the history of mankind. For the USD alone it would be reevalued at 3K to absord the extra liquidities, but the US ain't the only country on earth.

$7K/oz by end of 2021. Screencap this.

>Seems like the libertad already works like a side-by-side currency since you can go to the bank and exchange it for pesos at any time

It's true for any gubment minted silver or gold coin fren. The $ denomination on your ASE isn't just here to be pretty. It's legal tender. If you go to Walmart with 20 ASE to buy for $20 of stuff, they are legally bound to accept it. Same thing if you want to exchange it for federal notes in any bank.
Same goes for philharmonic : 1.50€, or the £1 brittania, etc..
That's why they put a face value on the coins so low : they know an ounce of silver will never be worth only one bux.
And my foil hat guess now : i think it also serve as a potential consfication tool : they could take your PMs and in exchange give you the face value in worthless fiat.

be patient fren, I think we just saw the hump on demand from businesses starting up again. silver is under 18 again. and I wouldn't be surprised if bullion demand is also hitting its peak.
just hold out a few more weeks anon, its getting better.

Anon, first off those red tip bullets look like tracer rounds. you need to put at least 3 or 4 regular bullets in-between them, or your risk warping your barrel.
second those sd boxes are classy I just wish their prices were better.
