I used to love IOTA when it was starting out and it still looks very promising as a scalable decentralized currency in my opinion. What happened to change everyone's mind on this?

When the next drop happens I'm going to shove at least 1k into IOTA in hopes for at least a 35x in the next year. I predicted that IOTA will continue to rise to $750 a Miota by the end of 2023.

Of course I'm going to invest in other coins but I think the most in one place will be my IOTA investment, I might even go up to 2k but 7k is my net worth right now so I'm only planning to invest $5k-$6k for now

i might invest into this shitcoin once i'm done with lto, nkn, ubt, and other projects that have a lot more short-term potential and a token-model that can actually be explained, and isn't always deflected as "once muh shitcoin is adopted the value will rise naturally because i, holding extremely heavy bags, really want it to."

i was more bullish on it in the past, as well, but now see it as more of a late-stage/endgame coin. projects like nkn will be much more feasible and profitable sooner than the iot, no? the same goes for chainlink and co. i do hope iota stays at its current value for a while longer, as well. and then actually works out later on. because i have no idea about the technical side of things. aside of them having completely rebuilt their shit from scratch, which one guy actually sort of predicted 1-2 years ago = "if it won't work as CFB envisions it, then the companies like bosch behind it will make it work." (then, hopefully, the companies actually stick with it)

oh: and the founders are all, without exception, insufferable cancer retards. absolutely deluded on many levels. to a degree that it's autistic, even. which /biz/ should love, if their form of autism wouldn't drive them towards representing the literal antichrist of /biz/'s beliefs.

Ohhhh ok, I was seeing it as an endgame coin but I thought that would just make it rise because it is a feasible endgame coin. I never actually thought about the fact that people are just trying to rocket to the moon and would rather go with shill coins to make money over an early investment that I guess won't even make too much of a difference in the long run.

Rocketpool is quickly becoming the standard decentralized staking network for ETH. If your not in RPL your waiting your time.

because these are the updates that come out from the iota foundation (which is projected to run out of funding by EOY)

I'll readily admit this is a poorly-informed opinion, and think it's a project worth keeping an eye on. But since you asked:
1. They violated the golden rule of cryptography "Don't roll your own crypto" - Shows arrogance, poor judgment, and even if it works, it sacrifices security confidence other cryptography systems have earned by resisting attacks for years and being well studied.
2. Ternary vs. binary - Ok innovation is good but this questionable design choice means it will not play well with 99% of existing hardware, and again sacrifices the benefits of decades of research applicable to binary computing.
3. The Tangle being reliant on a central coordinator (they have promised for years to remove it ASAP, and the longer this gets delayed, the more skepticism is warranted)
4. They shut down the entire network recently in order to stop a critical wallet hack (Why the fuck am I in crypto if core devs can pull the plug at any moment)

I have no vendetta against this project and would be interested to see refutations of any of these points if they're no longer correct.

Iota was the first non-BTC crypto I ever bought, and it was literally the exact day of the December 2017 moonshot. It was up like 400% within hours of me purchasing it. Didn’t hold it for long though. Way way way down now though
