I already got me some crypto, I got a bunch of stocks and ETF, fuck I even have some precious metals and a normal job, so this is not your typical
>guyse, tell me how to get rich without doing my own research post
(or so I think), but I got an idea for a business, but I don't even know where to get started.

So I'm looking for some good reads that give me a rundown on how to get started, preferably in a "neutral" way. I don't need some get-rich-quick guidebook, but rather some basics. I dunno, things like
<how to make a business plan
<estimates on what money you need and what you could make
<legal aspects
<funding/capital
<intelectual property
<motivation
<time planning
and stuff like this.

Of course it makes a difference on what kind of business you're going to start and where. I'm in Europe and I've got an idea for Climate services/CO2 compensation, so it's probably going to be asset light, but not just an app and a server. I've got a PhD in climate science, so I don't need to worry too much about the technical part, but I know fuckall about the business side.

I don't mind books like that, but I'm looking for general advice around the technicalities. I don't wanna live off my investments (though I wouldn't mind if buying the corona dip turns out to have been a good idea).

No dice. I'm whiter than whitebread and while I'm probably not the 100% Chad stereotype, I'm rather masculine (and happy with it). Plus, I got my dignity, and I'd like to keep it.

connections wise, I'm currently still in academia with a few good publications and I'm (if there's no Lockdown) on various international conferences, so I could use that as a starting point.

unless you go into some super tech/research-intensive stuff your publications and academic ambitions are going to scare of people. they are signalling that you are into it for the thinking not the doing. if you take the average startup there are not that many job roles.

you have some guys doing the coding monkey jobs and others to doing the selling and the founders who coordinate both. thats it for a while until they are reaching some growth phases. how do you fit into that?

Unfortunately, yes. Though there's also /smg/, and back in the days, while always being /g/'s crypto containment board, /biz/ always had some good discussion, that occasionally still shows up.

Hi anon, i'm in your position also.

https://www.udemy.com/course/the-complete-business-plan-course/

This is where i'm starting, this guy used to work Goldman Sachs and started his own hedge fund. There is a sale on atm so pretty cheap. I'm guessing at some point in the course they discuss getting a loan at the bank with your finished business plan

So humor me, what is the answer?
>>19436755
>loan
Not sure if I wanna go the classic loan route. first steps should be rather cheap, so before I just borrow a few k that I have to pay back anyways (with interest), I'll just take my own money and be good. But I'd like to keep my risks low-ish.

> I guess I'm the "ideas person", but I'm not sure how to turn those ideas into a reality

Stop right there. You need to figure all aspects of your invention ASAP before even thinking about starting a business. I'm not sure how it is in climate science, but my PhD in chemistry was required under contract to pay us a set stipend regardless of funding situations. Keep making progress in your PhD, but spend most of your extra time reading broad literature (in other fields) in addition to your normal reading. Use your spare time and stable (?) income during your PhD studies as a way to explore ideas for your business.

That’s the star I’m currently at, but no use in wasting time on figuring out if my idea actually works, if I can’t turn it into money anyways, so I wanna work on both aspects.
