In this thread we conclusively prove that Hal Finney invented Bitcoin.

he created the first and only reusable proof of work digital cash experiment that predates bitcoin. whether or not he was satoshi....who knows, but bitcoin built on his legacy for sure.

I legit spent a whole seek of my life trying to prove this but didn't quite get there. One of the interesting details that nobody has ever commented on is how Hal used double spaces after each sentence in all his old mailing list emails, but on BitcoinTalk he did not, whereas satoshi's account did.

Very interesting. I just looked at the archives. Back, Szabo, and Finney all used double spaces in the mailing list.

I feel as if it wasn’t one creator. It was a collaboration of cryptographers all aimed at one goal at anonymously creating a decentralized digital currency. Absolutely genius. Still to this day we don’t know for sure.

I’ll add some circumstancial evidence, who in the world would cryogenically freeze themselves when they are fairly old in age and had extremely debilitating ALS.

He claims so he can go to the future where his disease can be treated, and I do believe that. But that operation would be undoubtedly costly, and cryogenics itself is insanely costly. When he was frozen Bitcoin was not worth much.

Satoshi himself thought he could solve off chain payments using another method. I don't remember what it was, but Tadge mentions it in his MIT lectures, but it flat out just wouldn't work.
