REPOSTAN':

>Except it has «social» in the name, thus are linked to society.
What?
>Twitter, and other social media will have to create a «special» status for public VIPs.
What constitutes a public VIP? Is it based on official title or "social media follower" count?
>>19384475
>If they only publish what they want, they become publishers and not a social platform and has such will be liable for what people post on their site.
The legal precedent will be with print newspapers. And no, they technically are but its absolutely rare when it happens. Libel lawsuit fees are what browbeat newspapers, not the libel suit cases.
And here is the easier solution that would be a lose-lose for EVERYONE. Make all social media platforms require subscription fees. Then they do become online newspapers with editorial staff.
>>19384494
Here is my prediction. Trump will give up when inevitably the counter will be that if he wants special status as a person of record then he cannot delete, hide, or request edits of anyone that replies to his tweets. Powerful politicians are not allowed to pick and choose if they hear only good or bad comments. That becomes the far heavier first amendment argument.
Trump wants a SAFE space, not a FREE space.

I'm very excited about it. My government is supporting them, they have turned very lean before the crisis, they did a stock emission and raised a lot of capital. If they don't tank by July, the "official" summer vacation starts, and a bunch of countries like Greece and Spain will have opened up, so that's going to be good I think.
The stock emission was mostly bought by some large companies under a contract that said they couldn't sell until august. So the first time they are able to sell is from Sunday the 9th. Which means I am planning on holding the stock until Thursday the 6th, the day before everyone thinking the same will unload it.

Am I retarded, or is this viable?

At the time this type of service was unknown in many other countries. For example it didn't exist at all in Germany. Nowadays it's very common but you still feel "cool" doing this. Finally you can live your childhoom dream, woohoo!
Meanwhile dominos pizza stock had a 4000% ROI

A few years later and media pushes interracial sex. Netflix is a cuck company partaking in this idea. They had another big boom.

There have been studies that show that GDP growth above a certain threshold and stock returns are inversely correlated.

That's because mature economies have less NEW economies, hence the growth is captured by existing economies.

On the other hand emerging markets have a lot of new companies capturing the growth. You would have to buy these new companies at inception to profit from their growth. Meanwhile the established emerging market companies you likely bought underperform the market.

So when do we start pricing in the second wave?

>> No.19384937

Alright, so I have a question that I can't find an answer to, trying to learn stocks.

So stock I get: A share/stock is x% of given thing you're buying into. Value of thing goes up, value of stock goes up, etc. Buy low, sell high.

But then there's options/puts. I get that options are the riskier, and therefore potentially the more profitable play.

If I buy an option, I'm not buying an actual stock, but the right to buy into that stock at a certain pricepoint, for a certain number of shares, until a certain date. If the price of the stock goes up, these options become valuable because you can now by however much stock at below market price.

The point where this gets confusing is that I could, instead, sell these options instead of exercising them. This is the part I don't understand. Because a: Who am I selling them to? and b: how much money would I be making? If I buy some options and the stock price doubles, how much does my position improve?

And puts I don't understand at all. They're like options, but in reverse? So like, I literally bet on a stock going bad and get paid for it, without ever owning a stock?

The simpler the explination the better, since I am apparently high finance retarded, I just see some stocks I think will go up and wanna figure out the risk/rewards before I put money out to gamble.

A simple way to get a feel for options is to pull up a calculator, www.optionsprofitcalculator.com for example. Pull a few actual options (long calls/puts) available and look at the resulting charts. There are many more complex strategies than this and not all of them are as risky as you might think, but that is a good place to start.
If you don't feel like doing a ton of research on the topic, just stick to etfs and gamble a small stack on the side.

This is all probably helpful information but frankly it confuses me and doesn't answer my main question.

From a payout perspective, how much better are options, and why?

Like, I know that if the stock jumps, then options are worth more on a per-dollar-invested on the gain, but I don't know how much better, or why. all I know is the bit about exercising options, and that its not how most options guys make their money.

Slack + google ecosystem + zoom + amazon cloud will come out as the preferred ecosystem going forward. M$ ATH was justified? Hahahaha! They make all their money through government and military contracts nowadays. Except their shit is as bad as any pajeet-coded garbage tends to be. Of course military won't be using zoom for security reasons but hell if they use m$ anything despite having full source access. Even micro$oft employees hate m$ products and they universally believe the best thing satya has ever done was allow them to use non-m$ devices at work (at which point almost all of them switched to macs).

From a payout perspective, simplifying as much as possible, options have similar upside to pennystocks with somewhat reduced risk (unless you're buying puts on pennystock in which case downside is the same), as you can trade options on easy things like good stocks (MSFT, AAPL, AMZN, etc.) or ETFs (SPY, QQQ). The max risk is how much you buy the options for, the max reward is technically unlimited on calls and 100 x contracts purchased x share price on puts, in practice average gains of 20% in 5 minutes based on purchase price are almost guaranteed if you know what you're doing in volatile markets such as right now.
But as the other anons said, learn the greeks, it's very important.

I'm not talking about volatility, I'm talking about being unsuited for long term holding due to being made of degrading assets like debt or whatever.
I'm assuming that must mean it doesn't track 3x during after hours and just degrades instead, because otherwise if I thought NASDAQ would go up long term enough to buy and hold QQQ for say three months, wouldn't I just want to put it in TQQQ and make 3x as much?
Or if I couldn't risk that, just put 1/3rd as much in TQQQ as I would in QQQ, and then invest the other 2/3rds in something stabler but still profitable, or just hold it as cash?
It doesn't matter if a dip is 3x more intense if I'm just holding it unrealized until a set value or date, which is what long term holds are about anyways.
Right?
Or am I missing something, or does it actually degrade after hours?

Basically TQQQ just needs QQQ to be winning for you to make money. If QQQ loses money, trades flat, or even just rises mildly, you lose. As long as it goes up, you make big buggs.

It doesn't really decay per-se, just that it has to win decently big to make you money, and if it's losing you will lost money FAST. To think of the decay more accurately, just think about compounding. If you start with 10 dollars and apply 1.1% daily, you will make X, but if you started at 15, you will make that much more due to compounding. All they are warning you is to try and get your money in at the last minute before you think QQQ is going up.

Also I guess technically these usually have higher management fees, but that shit is like half a percent so who cares.

It's not as risky as those prospectuses make it out to be tho.

It really seems like all the TQQQ folks are just seeking validation on what is an extremely risky play. It has all been said before, past performance doesn't predict the future, leveraged ETFs can bottom out and never recover, they underperform the underlying in a volatile market. If you want to gamble, gamble. Google what you are asking us and the conventional wisdom is leveraged ETFs are not suitable for long term, if you want to make a contrarian play, do it.

Ok ok, I was holding USB calls for a while, but then I started thinking the Goldman Buyout I was hoping for wasn't actually going to happen, and that their exposure to commercial lending (while less than PNC or WFC) might still be enough for any interested party to sit on the sideline and see how they weather the rest of the year.

Sold my calls for like a grand profit, but I can't help thinking maybe a merger will happen yet.

You think they've got a shot?

>It really seems like all the TQQQ folks are just seeking validation on what is an extremely risky play
2x-3x is optimal "leverage" range. And leveraged bull index (or close to it) is basically just maximizing on the "just buy an index LOL" play. TQQQ, SPXL, URTY, and UDOW all do the same thing. They only go down long term from either a protracted crab or long slow bleed. And if that is the case, nothing was going to be the winning play anyway.
>It has all been said before, past performance doesn't predict the future, leveraged ETFs can bottom out and never recover
This is true generally but these are index plays. Leveraged over market averages. Betting against them is like betting against the underlying indices which means you are really betting against the underlying market.
If you can't win with these, you wouldn't have won with anything else on average.
> they underperform the underlying in a volatile market
This is the true hazard. Long protracted crab periods. Huge swings are fine since you can set trailing losses or other triggers. But +0.2%/-0.2% for years will kill you with a thousand needle pricks.
