If you’re in your late 20’s and worth six figures with little debt, should you rent or buy a house?

>> No.19311845

rent yourself a nice place
let the landlord worry about fixing the fucking toilets

>> No.19311848

The only reason to get a house is because your wife wants one. Besides that if you're young that house will tie you down to one city and it will be financially painful to move for a better job

Buy a duplex live in one half rent out the other half. Or if you live somewhere where prices are low get a big house with a basement suite and rent that out.

You autist claim (and I agree) that there is massive inflation. Might as well put that inflation on your side leverage your self to the tits with debt and in 10 years a million with literately be nothing

If you aren't going to move (or if you're in a location with good job prospects), you buy a house. If you're likely to move, rent, but look to get into a position where you won't move as fast as possible.

Buying a house allows you to do enjoyable home improvement projects like gardening and building. Not only do these build value in the home but they're good exercise and fun to do. Renting means you're beholden to a landlord which sucks ass. Either way you're paying a sum per month, why not sink it into a permanent asset you can sell later or pass onto your children?

>> No.19312729

By the time i am 30 ill be able to buy a house in cash. Then im going to use that equity to get another house. I will rent them both out, pay off the second house within 3 or 4 years, then do it again with a third payong off each house fast and faster.. by the time im 40 ill be able to own at least 6 properties fully paid off. So thats my plan as a 25 year old.

It really depends. Overpriced house is worse then rent + extra monthy cash to invest. Here is decent video putting it all together.

Where do you live that 1m condos are being rented for 2k a month?
In the areas I've lived that just about gets you a 1k square foot apartment in a black/Spanish neighborhood
Meanwhile buying the apartments outright is 100-150k
Right now I'm renting because one I think there's a chance property prices fall and two I'm too young to be tied down to an asset it'd be too great if a cost
