The other great thing about divvy stocks is the time factor. You save up 10,000. At age 30 you dump it into your favorite divvy stock. You forget about it for 35 years. Said divvy stock drips and does it's thing all without any input from you. In those intervening years you also take advantage of your companies retirement plan and built up a nice nest egg in the bank and say what the hell and also dabble in other stocks. But your divvy stock is still there working. By the time you hit retirement, all those things will make you a rich fuck or at the very least well off. Hell at the very least it's better to do it sooner now before life tosses uh "curve balls" at you that involves you tossing out loads of money.

Why would the bail out save your equity though? All that happens when a company goes bankrupt is creditors take over the equity. Even with a bailout they won't be profitable because of all the debt and the capex they sunk into them. It would require repeated bailouts if there's no equity drawdown financing which is probably why the Canadian government hasn't announced anything yet. They are waiting for it to fold so they can buy a chunk of it for cheap and wipe out current equity holders.

I'd buy oil then. Benefits from travel but doesn't solely depend on it. In effect can't go bankrupt as long as the world relies on oil, only downsized. Fairly stable in value compared to true thin air value propositions like travel agencies.

Think about a travel agency. Pick any one. What makes it function? What adds the value? It's people. They are knowledge based businesses. Those people can move if better jobs appear and they won't come back if there's downsizing. Travel is going to be fucked for the next year or so in all likelihood. Seems like a pretty big gamble to buy right now. Maybe in a year when things are bottoming out and the weaklings of the herd have already passed away.
