This. It's pointless to care about divvies in the accumulation phase. You are just paying tax on each distribution even if you reinvest it. And dividends come out of the companies free cash flow so they can't invest in growth therefore their CAGR tends to be lower.

Best to go with low to no dividend high CAGR stocks until you have huge capital then transition to dividend payers

The dollar's purchasing power has been receding even before the Nixon Shock in 1971. Even the Nixon Shock didn't happen, the dollar is still backed by gold until today, that doesn't guarantee the dollar won't weaken. Gold isn't backed by a powerful military, and gold's competition in circuitry is being threatened by other precious metals. Gold will be replaced someday by even better, artificial precious metal invented by a human. Asteroid mining in the future still holds as one of the biggest threats in the value of gold. >>19201659
You know the divvie stocks drop in value in accordance with the amount that's given back, right? It's not like you're getting 4% a year for free. Most of the time the stock's price drops by around 4%.

Options expire, so you can't hold growth stocks long-term. I'm just saying that if you're holding stocks long-term then it makes more sense to hold growth stocks

Da vinci and george cayley invented the plane. Clement Ader physically built the first airplane, and Alberto Santos Dumont was the first to perform an actual flight. The wright brothers only ever claimed to do so but never made public displays until years after Alberto Santos Dumont succeeded. There has never been any demonstrated proof of the wright brothers succeeding until then. Moreover, they have failed to perform flight without catapult, which is equivalent to saying they really didn't have a plane but rather a glider, which had existed since forever. For-profit organizations have worked hard to monetize the wright lie that they're the first but that's not even remotely true and no official organization recognizes them as the first.

The other great thing about divvy stocks is the time factor. You save up 10,000. At age 30 you dump it into your favorite divvy stock. You forget about it for 35 years. Said divvy stock drips and does it's thing all without any input from you. In those intervening years you also take advantage of your companies retirement plan and built up a nice nest egg in the bank and say what the hell and also dabble in other stocks. But your divvy stock is still there working. By the time you hit retirement, all those things will make you a rich fuck or at the very least well off. Hell at the very least it's better to do it sooner now before life tosses uh "curve balls" at you that involves you tossing out loads of money.

Most airlines are going to be bailed out.

>> No.19203577

>>19203504
Why would the bail out save your equity though? All that happens when a company goes bankrupt is creditors take over the equity. Even with a bailout they won't be profitable because of all the debt and the capex they sunk into them. It would require repeated bailouts if there's no equity drawdown financing which is probably why the Canadian government hasn't announced anything yet. They are waiting for it to fold so they can buy a chunk of it for cheap and wipe out current equity holders.

I'd buy oil then. Benefits from travel but doesn't solely depend on it. In effect can't go bankrupt as long as the world relies on oil, only downsized. Fairly stable in value compared to true thin air value propositions like travel agencies.

Think about a travel agency. Pick any one. What makes it function? What adds the value? It's people. They are knowledge based businesses. Those people can move if better jobs appear and they won't come back if there's downsizing. Travel is going to be fucked for the next year or so in all likelihood. Seems like a pretty big gamble to buy right now. Maybe in a year when things are bottoming out and the weaklings of the herd have already passed away.
