I, unironically, purposefully withhold some tasks (or results) during the week (that I already did) and then on the weekend I send some emails with the results or with complete the tasks. My boss legit thinks I work during the weekend and loves it

People do some monumentally stupid things in the name of social status.

I'm an engineer on salary but sometimes have to work weekend shutdowns, I either get to take days off for those worked or take a bonus payment. Whenever somebody says they are catching up on work on the weekend I make sure to chime in that I "dont get out of bed for free!". They do not like that very much.

Till I got laid off from COVID, I was getting paid hourly for engineering. I thought it was fair. Never gave away a minute for them, and made sure new hires knew to charge every hour they worked, too. Maybe that's why they chose me in the layoff. Now, I only get $875/week in passive income while they all tell each other how lucky they are to still have a job.
