You realize that when FDR (shit be upon him) put out his confiscation E.O. nobody turned anything in? Why do you think so much pre-33 gold is still around? He targeted a couple of gold whales, who didn't believe that the gov would have the balls do seize it.

That was in 1933, when people still kinda had a little faith in their government. Nobody with a brain has any faith in them now. They can't even get people to stay indoors, or wear masks. Any confiscation order is going to be defied, likely with several states/counties pulling 'sanctuary' status for gold/silver holdings and daring the feds to start shit.

Plat is very cheap relative to Gold and also relative to Palladium. It has a very good future, but I don't like owning it physically because it's thinly traded and the buy/sell spread means you get screwed on premiums on both sides usually. It is, most people only know of Pt and Pd as metals in catalytic convertors, but even in that application, a lot of the catalyst gets recycled into new convertors.

Petrochemical refineries burn through it, as do large scale manufacturing of nitric acid and benzene, which are critical precursors. Its also used in high temperature components, thermocouples, high temperature electrical contacts, etc... Also gets used in large scale NOX remediation for powerplants and those need to be replaced as they foul.

Another big sink for platinum is in medical implants. All the noble metals are pretty inert, but platinum alloys are really good at not being rejected by a human body.

>> No.19126077

I would never use it. The risk of fakes or scams is not worth it. Most dedicated coin shops are competitive enough - visit a few and find one you like. Do you really think the police payed in monopoly money are going to go door by door to people who they think might have precious metals houses to snoop around for metal? Especially considering most stackers are armed to the teeth with guns and have the metal hidden?

The confiscation of 1933 happened when we were under a gold standard. it was just a scam to print money by raising the price of gold from 20 to 35.

Most people just handed the gold in for cash, this was during a time when people somewhat trusted their government.

Today no one trusts the US government. No one will willingly hand in the gold & silver.

You did ok fren, not the greatest but not the worst either.
Now the price (on the comex) is creeping back up, the premiums are lowering proportionally, so the price not really moved much. In the grand scheme of things $22 is still a super bargain, you wont even think about it when your oz will be in the 3 digits range by eoy.

That said i do think we'll experience a very last dip before the big moon mission. The stonks and crypto bubble are in very late stage rn, everyone knows it and the constant pumping+volatility make everybody super anxious. When it will go burst (probably by june or july), that the stonks & shitcoins both go to 0, that the bonds are avoided like plague bcuz ZIRP policy while holding $ become a liability because of negative interest rates and inflation, that real estate crash because of mortages payment default and renters going broke because no one pay, it will be the time for the commodities to shine.
The ONLY place left to invest will be PMs, literally nowhere left to escape but gold&silver. There will be hundreds of millions of boomers all over the world trying to save what's left from their retirement savings, and as many genX/millenials/zoomers trying to just keep some purchasing power or being addicted to their new speculator mindset from betting on coinbase or robinhood in the stonks/shitcoins wild rollercoaster of 2020.

First it will be a tiny +30% in a week for the PMs. Then as more ppl come, the supply availible dwindle, and we start to see +40% every two days. Then as the LCS are all empty and every normans figure out the COMEX is a scam, PMs start truly decoupling, premium get insane as the LCS can't keep up with the pace and only sell in preorder. At this point normans are now preordering 1oz of silver for $120, estimated delivery : september 2022.
They can't wait, the wagies are now ragies and want their shit now, so they start to buy on ebay and craiglist. $200, $250, $300, the bids go crazy high now.

But it's STILL NOT ENOUGH. Mints aren't delivering, mines who usually product silver as a byproduct weren't running since the industrial demand for copper/zinc/lead is at ATL. But silver is now selling for $400 on ebay, it's just too high, so the mines start to restart all over the world, they mine 10000T of zinc and lead for 10gr of silver, and dump all the base metals in the sea and only keep the silver, which they melt down to sell it on craiglist.
But of course it's not enough, the gubment start to be pissed and make a bill to nationalize by force all the mines producing gold and silver worldwide. There are now the national guard and 3 SWAT teams protecting each mine, who run 24/7. But the reserves are just too low, and millions of boomers are shitting their diapers of rage, zoomers are fuming to not be able to purchase the ultimate moon.

Then Satoshi reappear (it was Terry all along) in dec. 2020, and announce he created a BTC 2.0, backed by PMs. The market cap is $2 quadrillions, and to create the physical stock to back it up, a new fort know get created, and owner of PMs get offered a special contract : for each oz deposited, they get their silver reevaluated at $2500/oz, and gold at $25,000. Or they can decide to get dividends by running a "metal node", and each oz deposited will pay $80 every month, but they must pay fees if they want to get it back.

So if your silver stack is 20oz, it become interesting to make a metal node, you get $1600/month of divi-bux.
But to be really comfy i'd say 200oz is really sweet, you then get $16K/month doing nothing, and if you really need to, you still can cash out your stack anytime(15% in fees of the deposited metal value though..).

I know my prediction is kinda bearish, but i prefer to not be too hopium-driven. This way i avoid getting disappointed.

Yes. But his point was a out confiscation. Will it happen again?
Probably not, and here's why:
In 1933, we were on a gold standard. Federal Reserve legally couldn't just print money. So to print more money they meeded to round up more gold. Then they devalued that gold so they could print even more.

Today, none of that is needed. Dollar tied to nothing. Just paper and digits. Money printer go brrrrr.

no mainly because the fiat system is much better overall. it was an evolutionary step pretty much concluding in 0% reserve fully debt based monetary system.

which in itself is not the problem. people get all mixed up in this shit they thing this fundamentally makes the system faulty or evil. no. it makes the system extremely efficient and flexible.

the problem is the debt burden/productivity ratio. if the system is abused and over extended it becomes self consuming. above 90% debt/gdp it's game over.

it's probably the worst form of money for a modern global economy.

but here is the most awful property of gold and silver: distribution. only like 5 counties mine any significant quantity on this planet and we got 200 something other countries who would have no right to issue their own sovereign money if we used gold and silver as money.

just imagine a country denied the right to issue it's own money and have to buy it's money from an other country... god damn!

Well thats just your opinion and its wrong. Gold backs the world central banks. The largest and oldest populations on earth use it to pass down their wealth, india and china. Russia is one of the largest petro energy producers and they have been stacking gold while selling dollars.

No country would be denied the right to issue its own currency in what ever form it takes. As long as its backed by or represents something valuable no one is going to be “left out in the cold”.

the fact is gold is not money and is not hoarded by countries like russia because it's money. hey have a problem with usd they have to rely on the us to transact in it and can be denied. they also have no credit and nobody wants their shit currency the rubel. so sometimes they have to physically settle in a commodity that is portable enough and widely accepted as money substitute still.

but think about it... how much more snese it would take for russia to adopt bitcoin once the bitcoin market cap is big enough to accommodate and the price is stabilized enough to allow for such transactions. securing and transacting in bitcoin is a quadrillion times cheaper than delivering gold.

fun fact: if simbabwe's currency is stable (small inflation) it isn't problematic that the nominals of the bills are damn high. fiat is only good as temporary storage of wealth. it would suck if you sell hotdogs and every customer throws 2 nanogramm gold dust at you. but for long term storage of $10,000 it is perfect. if fiat crashes (great inflation) you are safe and gold doesn't rot away if it gets wet or burns to ash in fire. i don't understand people calling it boomer rocks. it is so much more. nethertheless, i'm cracking a cold one (i heard you yankees say that). indeed it is a corona beer. i bought a few one recently. maybe i can show them may decendants in a few decades and tell the story how i and a bunch of unteachable enthusiasts on a japanese bathtub forum made jokes about fiat fags and built us some generational wealth. cheers.
