For culverts, try the material directly at the front and end of the pipe, scoop out the material in the grooves of the culvert as best you can and try that. I have had some very good days doing that, but honestly you never know what you will get. One thing I always end up finding are bullets for example.

10oz of silver, 1oz of gold
gonna sit down and do some calculations of how I'm going to allocate my wealth and income, this feels like a good start for now, obviously buying into hype but it feels like the right thing to do after I've been gambling stocks and shitcoins relentlessly for the past 2 years. Took some profits and took the pmg pill

I'm actually hoping to leave my job before it cripples me so I don't wanna go too deep into something that I have no intention to sell. I'll probably get a handful of ASE's and then consider just saving up for a hueg bar. Maybe. I'll figure it out in the coming weeks. I have some stock options that could potentially hit my worth for a couple grand, or increase it, but let's face it I've done really poorly with options so I'm probably going to lose and I'm mentally preparing for that. If I can hold my job through the end of the year then I should be sitting pretty in any case. I tell myself that every year, and I keep getting financially better, and now I'm starting to understand that I'll probably financially okay because of how hard I've been working the past years and I need to get back to focusing on relationships and that sort of thing so that when I'm old and rich I have a family to leave my wealth to

depends on what you want out of precious metals. PMs are not a get rich quick scheme, they are a sink of wealth in times of hardship and or a physical savings account of sorts.

If your looking to get into the stock / trading side thats fairly easy, do some research on the major companies and the junior firms that supply them with projects to work with.

There are a lot of different sides to Precious Metals, I focus on the mining side and the companies that do that actual labor. Others can better explain the rest.

>>19033223
you don't feel it? I tend to ride trends here on 4chan, I've been here since 03, and I feel like I'm only in this thread because of some level of hype around pm's with the coronavirus and peter schiff etc. And I understand I might be buying high. It just feels natural at the moment and I like the idea of this form of savings, basically not putting all my eggs in one basket. I also like my 5oz batboi because it's basically 1 day's wage for me, so after a hard day of work I can look at that massive washington head and say "I earned that today"

You know what's wild? I'm 32. When I was 21 years old, I was on the path to being financially set for life, and I started taking drugs and giving money away to a woman. Since then I've hit low after low and at one point I was riding around town with $2 of gas in the tank going to buy $5 worth of weed from a crack dealer. I've wasted so much money on little ideas I thought would make me money, when in reality I just had money burning a hole in my pocket every time I had $1000 saved, none of the ideas really amounted to much. So here's what's crazy. I'm debt free, I've got portfolios, I've got a nice truck, and my income is better than ever. I've learned to cook and garden and I'm just doing way better than I ever was. So I tell my brother I ordered a silver coin because I want physical savings and he looks at me like I'm insane and financially irresponsible, because only crazy people buy silver. This was the only time he's ever looked seriously concerned about my behavior. Incredible stuff

In my part of the U.S. we gets lots of Canadians who will drive 2 hours just to get here in order to buy food and stuff in bulk and then bring it back across the border. Apparently stuff in the U.S. is cheaper and Canadians dont have to pay duties or something on it if it is below a certain dollar amount. I can't really take a sharper pic but I got this yesterday and it has a tiny brown spot in the U (in 'cunt').
Apparently copper residue on the surface can oxidize and this is rare for gold but natural and harmless and can be safely ignored.
However I also read that some chemicals do corrode gold and basically the whole thing smells like cigars. The case, the capsule, even the coin itself. The small paper card inside is yellowish so it seems like this has been in the hands of a smoker for a couple of years.
So I'm divided whether the impurity on the coin is due to residue copper or of the gold itself is damaged from the toxins in tobacco smoke.

Should I try to clean it and if so what are the best methods for cleaning gold? I tried to brush it with a cotton swab but it doesnt come off. But even if it's copper corrosion there is still a chance that there are harfmul tabacco chemicals attached to the coin that may cause damage in the future.

Platinum is severely undervalued compared to gold, but it doesn't see much action as a PM (limited ornamental use, for example).

My recommendation is to buy a little bit to hold for diversification, and anything beyond your hold amount should be kept for a better Pt:Au price ratio. From Anon's chart, you can see Pt used to be worth double its weight in gold, but now is only a little under half its weight. It's your most realistic entrypoint into 'trading up' to gold.

https://www.ukbullion.com/learning-centre/articles/marks-and-spots-on-gold-and-silver
>Gold – Red Spot -The common mark seen on fine Gold products, bars and coins, is a very small red or reddish-brown spot. Such marks can vary from sharply defined micro-dot size to soft-edged pinhead size. Traditionally, these red spots have been explained as tiny specs of Copper (part of the 0.0001 of the item in 0.9999 purity Gold) that are exposed at the surface of the item and react with air. A further explanation would be the presence of a spec on the blank, or the minting equipment, that is bonded to the item during minting. Very recent research in China suggests that the spots can also result from small spots of Silver, almost always found in Gold, reacting with Sulphur in the atmosphere.

If the atmosphere damages base metals in gold alloy, cigarette smoke, containing nitric acid among one of the 4000 chemicals, isn't going to make it any better. I don't need to explain to you which chemicals are used to dissolve gold, you being the local 4chan expert on onscure brown spots on gold coins.

I'm just glad I don't take advice from someone who finds it laughable that I want to keep my gold clean and away from harmful toxins.

Nitric acid alone doesn't affect gold, it needs to be mixed with hydrochloric acid at a very specific concentration and temperature to form aqua regia which will corrode gold.

how much nitric acid do you suppose cigar smoke contains? Like do you imagine there's large amounts of it in smoke? How strong do you imagine that nitric acid is? How much smoke do you think it would take to damage gold, if we pretend that gold is damaged by nitric acid?

you might have done better with cyanide, since at least that will damage gold and at fairly low concentrations. But if there was enough cyanide or nitric acid in smoke to harm metals it would instantly kill a human.

coin collectors don't clean coins. We definitely don't clean uncirculated coins with abrasives.

That's good most of the anti-platinum crowd is on youtube. Usually they talk about how "platinum has no use outside of catalytic converters" then act like everyone will magically drive a Tesla tomorrow.

Platinum is a good buy especially now while industry has cooled off. It will certainly recover to it's historic position over gold. I predict that gold will overtake palladium ($2000 USD) at USD$3000 for gold, and about $3500 USD for platinum.

what are UK anons doing at the moment? I don't have very much silver but want to buy some more. Seems buying from UK dealers is retarded since silver is an (((industrial metal))) and has 20% VAT. I don't really care if you want to clean your coins, but don't be stupid about it and use methods that won't destroy the details like fucking baking soda.

Instead, try soaking it in chemicals that get the grime off and don't react with the metal, then dunk it into water and swish it around to remove the chemical and any dissolved gunk. After that, fold it into a paper towel to dry (or let air dry if you want).

Still clean, just not slicked to all hell by being scrubbed harshly with something like sanding paper.

Shit, not only that but you fucking lose silver cleaning them that way.slick silver coins wind up weighing less because all the metal got rubbed away over time.

To be honest, I don't expect PMs to make anyone here fabulously wealthy and successful.

What absolutely could happen though is a simultaneous collapse in prices in PM terms, combined with a significantly better exchange rate between dollars and PMs.

So suppose house prices for example fall to $20,000 dollars on average, and gold goes up to $4,000 an ounce. That isn't enough of a change to make most of us here wealthy, but it is enough that someone with 2 ounces can put down a 50% downpayment on a house and get on the ladder.

This is what I see as a realistic best case scenario for most PM holders. Not becoming rich, but being relatively comfortable in an uncomfortable world.

If you own a gold/silver test kit you can always go to test on site too.

I've bought 150oz of silver from them and so far so good. They never charge me tax whereas other sites always do for the same orders. It's strange.

Not as cheap, but I have a feeling you could make back the premiums and then some with 50 of these queen's beasts vs a 100oz bar: https://www.jmbullion.com/2019-2-oz-british-silver-queens-beast-yale-coin-bu/

that's what I mean. the rest of the world might want to arm-wrestle you, and I think it's going to be what, 1 vs. 20?

an alabama boy might think he could do it, but most murricans aren't so optimistic

Worth it for 3 years to retire on a farm while reaping housing Realestate rentals somewhere in Florida or the Midwest. I'm wondering if you cant just use the funds to buy property in like near Detroit or Ohio & rent out houses or at most a small complex. Just line up the right team after the storm brews over.

That is if it brews over...

why would you airtite a bunch of 1oz generics? whether they're pristine or covered in fingerprints they're worth the same melt-value and sell for the same online. if they were commemorative bullions or part of a series you're collecting that's one thing, but generics make no sense to protect that much

there will never be enough to satisfy the thirst for more. Just keep buying in the 1:100 gold/silver ratio until you hate yourself or die and pass on the stack

I keep hearing 1500 oz.
That doesn't mean you aren't collecting more though. 1500 oz is just the reserve/never touch supply.
Inflation will only increase. That said you cant retire off of that amount though. You're going to have to get creative. A few questions come into play too.
How are you going to hide your stash?
How are you going to defend your stash?
Are you willing to sell in creative ways when necessary?
