Important to bear in mind investing in oil is a different game to investing in oil tankers, friend.

>>19011422
Some interesting articles in the OP worth reading, but the general gist is that tankers are one of the few industries making obscene profits during the pandemic (with added oil price war at the same time, for good measure) Strong dividends and large institutional buy-ins tells us that the value of the stocks exceeds their current price, and a lot of big boys seem to believe that's the case as well. A lot of retail is understandably put off by the volatile nature of the stocks, however.

Reasons tanker stocks are crashing to bankruptcy

1. Contango almost gone
2. Daily rates crashing to all time lows
3. Dumb money has already left and wont be back
4. Tanklets dont understand dividends
5. Tanklets dont understand that stocks value are based on future earnings
6. Brandon told them much of this and they didn't listen and already lost money; now mad at all Brandons
7.No catalyst for rising stock price
8. 2nd qtr earnings not good
9. 3rd qtr and beyond losses as far as you can see
10. Excess ships will be scrapped setting stage for a week recovery in 2027
11. When the board bagholders capitulate we will get a 30% bounce
12. Then down to zero on bankruptcy

First point is enough to see that you are a brainlet.

Contango is far from gone.
The end of June contracts will one again reveal that there is no storage left.

>"But industry is resuming, people are comuting, demand is back"

Even if that is true, back in April storage was still being filled, listen to any storage broker out there and he will tell you that storage is even harder to find now than is was in April at the end of the May contracts.

>10. Excess ships will be scrapped setting stage for a week recovery in 2027
There are no excess ships. Ships take 2 yrs to build and no one is building them.
Most fleets have decrepit ship running due to high demand, the scrappage of these ship was already priced in for this year.
You would know this if you read the earnings.

The conference call yesterday revealed to the world the stuttering effective and profitable management that run this scam. Price has already tanked 10%. Once it breaks through the $6.30 resistance the panic will begin and small holders and speculators will begin to offload, with the whales already long gone. Once it shoots through the $5 mark, unabated FEAR will ripe through all TANKies. With all those who dumped their current accounts into this scam twitching at their arsehole continuously while refreshing Robinhood. The $3.70 mark will be met, the largest panic in history will ensue. The final deluded call options will begin to go to zero, and wagecuckers with their engineering salaries loaded up in DHT will be left with it stuck in their portfolio, unable to event market sell it for zero to salvage some self respect. The price WILL tank at this point to sub $1, and most probably sub IPO levels. From that day forward the deluded TANKie wagecucking engineering nerds who bought this stock thinking it had fundamentals will go back to their jobs, with no money in their current accounts, to be made redundant by the next wave of pajeets arriving to undercut their wages. Deluded TANKies will hold bags FOREVER, with no job, no money, and no profits. I warned you TANKies. There’s still time to get out. Sell NOW. Don’t be deluded, don’t be an TANKie.

People here that have already lost 40% and been wrong about everything are much smarter than these guys at Diamond S

>Diamond S Shipping (NYSE: DSSI) capped a blockbuster run of tanker earnings with an announcement of huge profits and a record quarter, just like the other four listed owners reporting this week.

But the Diamond S conference call on Friday was not a predictable sequel to calls with analysts the days before. The mood was less uplifting and self-serving, more foreboding and straight-shooting.

Diamond S CEO Craig Stevenson and his CFO Kevin Kilcullen did not mince words about the trouble they see ahead — as soon as the third quarter, earlier than implied by tanker executives on prior calls.

Focus on caution

Stevenson is veteran of the tanker industry and the former CEO of OMI Corporation, the company that famously sold its entire fleet in 2007 for $2.2 billion at the very peak of the boom, leaving buyers Teekay Corporation (NYSE: TK) and Torm (NASAQ: TRMD) holding the bag when the financial crisis struck.

yeah but surely they can't be holding THAT many calls where they would lose an insane amount of money if we actually made a profit. These guys operate on the scale of hundreds of billions. How are us retail investors a threat to them? Lmao, I hold calls from may to July, but what in the world man its not like they're gonna lose even a billion dollars if they let the price naturally go up like it wants too. Why the need to intentionally sink a good stock? I doubt us retail bag holders make up more than 200million of their calls.

So much this. Except reality is inescapable when futures rollover, it all goes back to the real value. And the panic this will cause will chop off a leg rather than just move it down. This economy is collapsing, the writing is on the wall and no one cares. Jobs aren't returning, small businesses aren't getting their loans, no one paid rent, bankruptcies will come soon, but no one cares.

Also, including Otis and Carrier in the RTX earnings was dumb as fuck.
With the upcoming real-estate bubble crash, Otis and Carrier will lose a lot of business.
On short term they are good investment.

But RTX is a good long term play. Their defence contracts give them stability through this and with the merger they are better positioned for the future.

So far, big-money-weighted made a new 10 day low and sunk below both moving averages, meaning institutional investors are behind today's selling.

Overall this is just a continuation of the down-trend since april 28.

Inference made by comparing the change relative to the other two derived indices? I'm too lazy to figure this average out.

God I hope so. My dream is for tankers to rise, I sell 50-75% and leverage it into RTX and maybe some primo bluechips, keep a few hundred to play with swinging penny shit

Commencing Post on Why I'm Selling in Late May, and will buy back in in late 2021.

So /tsg/, my current prediction is that the overall SPX has a high likelihood of rolling over in June of this year. A sinking tide lowers all boats.

But this is nice, as it coincides with my expectations of a bump in mid to late may in my tankers, and as well my tankers have been swinging from higher highs and higher lows all along the way.

This has multiple factors.

Firstly, markets have had the age old saying of sell in may and go away. Sounds like BS right? Looking back, there has been a slight trend, but not enough to warrant worry. Well not if you examine MAY BEAR MARKETS only, and make no mistake we are in a bear market; if you disagree we'll just have to agree to disagree on this fact.

Observe chart 1 of SPX, I've marked out the ONLY may of the bear market. Interesting right? Bear market rally, with a crash during and after may. But 1 graph isn't enough, we need to go deeper. Lets look at the Dotcom crash.

Yah it's reversal time. We're way too close to 30 RSI and oil futures are dropping the ball. It will ease up.

Got to admit, should have left RTX at 65ish.
This drop was predictable.

Anyway. My VTIQ kicked in so the day was saved by the wildcard.

Tankers will rise will the end of contracts.
But then, within this year Oil will reach record highs if there isn't a second lockdown.
They are shutting down stuff that takes alot to start pumping again and if demand goes to 80% of what it was before, there won't be enough oil for the demand.

Oh no the country which exports no oil did something irrelevant. Must be why tankers are crashing again

Chart 2 shows SPX in the DOTCOM crash. Again, we`re seeing correlation with bear markets and post May crashes. This one follows the trend very closely. I included the first may in there for sake of authenticity, as technically its part of the bear market as it had reached it's last highs. However, consider that the Market was still running on ATH euphoria and expecting even higher rallies.

I really do not think there will be a second lockdown. That's why I'm holding on to half my oil investments ie. GUSH, OXY. Oil will eventually rise, and it will rise insanely hard, it's just a matter of waiting. And if it never comes back we have bigger problems anyway.
These tankers are a medium hold for me. I don't expect to short it, I'm a loser if I sell now guaranteed, and I think that they will rise. In order to hedge a bit I bought some SCO which is already doing well.
Eventually I'm going to buy back into oil, probably HAL and maybe MRO, I just don't know when. Or maybe go for something juicy like XOM, who knows.

okay lets pull back to 2 more major bear markets. Chart 3 shows another after may drop in 1990s bear market. Interestingly enough the previous bear market to that, the left line, has no correlation, although there was a dip post may, before rallying to ATHs. The market crashes in October, which I'm not going to consider as a post may crash, otherwise all crashes are post may.

These charts are very interesting. So you are suggesting though to sell tankers too because everything will likely go down?
