yes but its really hard to say exactly where to look other than major rivers. Most of the gold ore comes from veins near Lake Superior, specifically near Royal island and south. Placer gold appears in a thick, blue iron stained clay. which can be found basically all the way down through the US, transported by glaciation.

The gold you will likely find will be fine, sand particle sized and thin flakes. Nuggets have been reported as well but they are rare and very hard to locate. Heres a link with more info. https://raregoldnuggets.com/?p=627

One of my rules in life is to not take the man who collects precious metals. Most gold miners that I’ve run into wouldn’t think much of drowning you in a creek if you tried to fuck them over when it comes to their shiny rocks.

It’s also bad luck to insult the metal itself. Don't do that.

Platinum is not money like Gold and Silver. as in it will not behave the same way when shtf. Plat is a very good value store of production value as it is used in lots of industries.

When the damage fo covid and the feds fuck ups comes to the markets, plat is going to plummet with other industrial metals while gold and silver shoot up as everyone remembers they are true value stores.

I have looked into play myself and will probably buy in once things hit rock bottom and use as a physical 'stonk' of industrial growth along with other base metals. Platinum is not shit, just not a good bet right now. Though it never hurts to diversify as I could be wrong and retarded.

Do your own research but here is mike rapping about plat issues (in an economic downturn)

>There is no difference in the coin itself, so all you're getting is a plastic case and a label stating that it was struck in Philly.
this is true, but it's true of most slabs.

what you're actually paying for is the brand population for the coin. NGC graded more of these than PCGS did, either because NGC is looser with their grading or because NGC is cheaper.

but either way you're paying for the slab itself rather than just the coin. Getting the coin reslabbed by NGC would drop the value $200 instantly, the PCGS slab is much rarer. Taking it out of the slab would drop the price to around melt.

If the US govt collapses and minting of ASE altogether ends and all 50 states revert back to an almost EU federation and/or some merge together....

Imagine passing this rare coin down to your grandchildren.

These type of "emergancy" production items are ultra rare in grand scheme of history of things.

I currently have

>2oz gold
>155oz silver

Am I gonna make it? Should I stack more gold or silver? Silver is supposedly insanely undervalued but something tells me the ratio goes more whack at the next gold/silver moon. I'm picturing a scenario where gold moons to like $100k/oz and silver mooning to like $500/oz.

Tone your expectations down. 2 years from now I think gold could be mid-high $2000s and silver maybe in the $30-40 range. You have to think of it as alternate savings, not some moonshot shitcoin story. If you want leverage to the gold/silver price you need to look into opening a brokerage account and buying gold mining and royalty companies.

That said - I'm at 20 oz / 500 oz and I wish I had bought more when it was cheaper. Hoping we get a pullback to 1600.

hey did my coin dealer fuck me over? i just got a brand new tube of 2018 eagles and i noticed they seemed slightly smaller than my old tube of 2005s i bought locally. when i stack them up the 05s definitely look bigger. they have some toning which is fine. Has there been a change in manufacturing or am do i need to pay a visit to my LCS to straighten this out?

the new ones came in an apmex sealed tube from a private seller online. I would not have opened them if i did not notice a discrepancy

That's a change that the Mint made between 2005 and 2018.

Their die creation processes changed and allowed them to go back to the higher relief engravings. Part of that change replaced the lettering with the Albertus typeface (you can even see it on the newer fiat quarters).

As for the planchet differences, that's a bit weird. I'd check the Mint site for specifications.
