I was googling too and it's bizarre that it's so hard to find the link - anyways, you have to KYC through Uphold to spend your BATties which is pretty lame. Everything that has to do with spending BAT besides tipping seems to have to go through the middleman Uphold.

I understand the KYC aspect is necessary but let's get fucking Coinbase on board. I'm sick of fucking uphold. Also get a company like Amazon on board in terms of spending BAT. Imagine buying shit on Amazon/eBay via Coinbase. That would be fucking huge

>but is there any reason besides lack of demand why the price of BAT would remain stable or decline?

real answer: there are massive BAT whales that sell off during pumps. BAT had a notoriously retarded ICO where a select few got in early and bought massive bags, and can now sell into pumps. I know this because some of these whales post about it here. They set target prices and when BAT reaches certain prices they sell off. It's a very easy token to swing trade for that reason.

dumb answer: Brave purposely suppresses the price for now, to try to keep the price of BAT stable and for other various rumored reasons.

someone made an interesting point about BAT's on-chain and off-chain movement the other day. They cited this post from cryptoJennie in the BATProject reddit.

I'm not smart enough to figure out what it means exactly, but I think it's not good. Like if they're doing all these transactions off-chain and on Brave's database, then 1) they could double-spend and 2) they'd be ripe for a fraud investigation by the SEC. Just seems like a really bad idea all-around, but then again doing all this shit on chain would be literally impossible and way too slow.

what do you guys think

Im the guy that created that reddit thread. And what it means basically is that the BAT tokens are off chain as long as possble which is the reason why the BAT prices rarely moves. The BAT tokens are only virtually in your browser display and it seems like they are only created when the BATs are "requested" this is great for brave but not so good for investing into BAT tokens because most of them are only "virtually" out of the ecosystem and only truly out of the ecosystem when people do the KYC and actually move them to their wallet.

We do not know if this is true and we do not have a way to proof that those virtual BAT are even moved . And DESU it makes not much sense to do so for brave, because this would cost insane amounts of gas. Do not get me wrong I think its the right thing for brave to do this. It stabilizes the prices and also lowers the gas spendings. But this also means that there is by far less buy pressure caused by scarcity then we have thought. That was my concern and the reason why I created that thread. Because scarcity related transaction only happen when people do KYC and request the "physical" tokens.

"For now"

This should be overemphasized. The user base is growing 10% month over month, but the weak link right now is the ad system and token utility. In the next few months we should hopefully see a few things happen. The self service dashboard should roll out along with state level campaign options. This should reduce campaign minimum spends to less than the current $2,500 and free up a lot of the sales teams time to focus on state level campaigns and publisher ad campaigns. The publisher campaigns are something that already exists and advertisers are familiar with, but have been neutered by adblock. Publisher ads are a big sell for webpage owners and more traditional digital ad departments. It looks like Brave is also trying to roll out the SKU which is a pay with BAT option any webmaster can add to their site for paywalls, ecom, etc.

They are working on other things too, but it seems like the goal is to beef up the ad system and then push the users who are not opted in to the ad system to consider trying it. Basically they are planning on scaling to profitability so they can get more cash for customer acquisition. If they can get the train moving the BAT supply will start to quickly dry up and Brave will outperform all tokens on user metrics by a very wide margin. BAT could become a bigger name brand than bitcoin.

There’s multiple ways to hit that mark. Integration with amazon, google try’s the buy out, downloads go exponential, India opens crypto back up and government tells people to use brave, sdk goes mainstream, anyone of those would do it and that’s off the top of my head and I just woke up.

Oh yeah, from like last winter. Forgot about that one. Wish they would bring something similar back. That survey had a ton of great ideas for the project.

Only faggots use Safari. Also, what are options?

Guess it's too hard for Apple users to press the button that says SETTINGS. Typical.

iOS app is a forked version of Firefox.
>On iOS, we'd later reverse the decision to use UIWebView due mostly to web compatibility and crash bugs outside of our stack that we couldn't fix and which Apple was not likely to fix. We re-forked Firefox iOS, re-added our features, and found new and creative ways to do the blocking and protection required by Brave Shields.
