I'm still kind of confused by his decision. Buffett is known for his long term investments aswell as compounding, so if he sold now he probably expects the airlines to do badly for 5+ years... but if airlines gets bailed-out and air travel starts resuming GRADUALLY the actual stock value should also gradually increase rather than completely die. Sure it's a slow process but airlines will boom as soon as the country along with the world opens up and that will happen before Corona is a nothingburger, maybe that's what he's waiting for. Now that I think about it though, he's probably scared shitless that his final big investment will be a massive failure.
BUT still.. he bought DAL at around 46, who the fuck buy airlines almost at the top when a virus is spreading like wildfire? I mean come on

To be fair, he did fk over a lot of new investors, his own shareholders and himself. And it's kinda irksome that he gets so much praise e.g. oracle of omaha, when his recent perfomance has been terrible and his past achievements were either insider trading or starting early. He is too lazy to learn about technology or anything new, as opposed to some other billionaires, giving the excuse of don't invest in something you don't understand, thus missing the advent of tech companies like amazon, netflix, google and his best buddy's company microsoft. If you don't understand something, go fking learn it, it could be an amazing opportunity then you would kick yourself for missing, don't just dawdle around and say I don't understand so I don't want to invest and stay in your comfort zone holding a bunch of relics that barely make you money. Imagine if instead of holding his beloved banks, he went and bought amazon, google, facebook or microsoft, he may have beaten Bezos to a hundred billion in net worth.
