Hey /biz/ i got a great job offer from amazon starting 01.07, but Im scared shitless of coronavirus as i easily get sick...
Im 25 and ive been in quarantine since Feb.
I have enough savings to survive 2-3 years but i specialize in supply chain management so there is no way i will get a better job offer than what i got from amazon... Its a development program, so if i dont get fired i could reach executive lvl in 3-5 years.

Can i get some srs advice pls? Pic is OC

Had a friend who worked at Amazon. They expect you to work 16 hour days and all kinds of bullshit like that, so consider if that’s a life you actually want.

I'm guessing it's an EU job from that date format. Any job is better than no job anon. No rule says you have to stay there if it doesn't work out.
> development program
Is the wage normal, and Is this common in your field? This kind of thing screams whomever sucks up to the boss the most and/or sleeps with them gets the job out of the x people hired for said program.

> Lord of the wagie cages and human robots.
A McDonalds has 30ish workers. You are in charge of 4 McDonalds. All day ery' day. Are you up for this, and have you done it before? From the sound of things not only will you have impossible metrics to fill from higher ups but also people below you crying, because one fuck up or they get sick, they're gone.

If you think you can handle it, godspeed sir.

The wage is around 30% better than what i had in another big corp after working there for almost 3 years. Its probably 50% better than what I could get from competition. Its around 2.5k$ per month with a 7k usd single payment starting bonus.
From what i talked with people who have done the programme if i dont get fired in the first 3 months its very likely theyll keep me around for longer. And im supposed to get a promotion every 1-3 years until i climb 3 more steps in Amazon

I work for Amazon, and they have done a lot to make it safe during this. Temps taken before shifts, supply us with masks, space us apart from one another, provide free testing. It isn't bad, and working there isn't like the horror stories I'd heard. There's still plenty of corporate bullshit you have to deal with, but there's always bullshit no matter where you work.

Corona only kills older fucks. Being 25 there's 0% chance you might die from it.

It seems like you just don't want to work.

Ive only managed 1 person in the past and it was an ambitious student on a managerial traineeship position. I consider myself an laid back, empathetic person so I'm kinda scared I wont be able to bully 120 retarded blue collar rednecks into doing whatever I want...

>>18844762
Thanks for the tip, I heard similar things from all the people I asked. In the previous company I worked like an ox too (12-14h a day + 10-12h on the weekend) so I dont really mind and I heard that the awards in Amazon can be really hefty so at least theyll pay me for my time (unlike the previous corp with free overtime)

Just know that they will constantly demand better and better numbers from you. It never ends. And I wouldn't count on advancing far within three years. They'll likely just shuffle you around in a similar role to open new FCs, or send you to ones not meeting expectations. It's pretty cut-throat. Managers on shifts before you will not hesitate to leave your shift completely fucked if it might somehow make their numbers even slightly better.

Yep, welcome to Poland. Keep in mind this is around 4x the average salary in this country.
I could probably dump around 1500$ each month into crypto with this job.

The contract literally says Ill get minimum 1 promotion within the first 3 years if I survive.
If I do well I can get the first promotion as fast as after 8 months of service, and then Ill only manage the shift managers, not blue collars directly.

They consider floating Operations Supes to other FCs a promotion. They get a bump in pay though. All the regional Supes I've met have been there for like a decade. But there are lots of lateral and small promotions available, so eventually you can learn a lot and that opens up a lot of advancement possibility. Just make sure you can do things as well as you expect the people under you to do them. Supes who can actually throw down, not just bark impossible expectations at people, get a lot of respect which helps them have the support to advance.

You'll find out fast that they will change your contract at will, and if you have a problem with that they will happily send you the link to resign and fuck off. There is a never-ending line of people ready to fill your position. That's actually the worst thing about working there, they change your employment terms whenever they feel like it, and stifle any possible unionization, so you are completely powerless and at their mercy.
