First you have to understand, it does nothing. Its not a CD in the normal way. You dont have to stake or can end your stake early with a penalty, which doesnt actually matter if you are ahead in gains. The point is that it is the first "currency" with a staking system design to benefit those who stake the longest and biggest.
So it perfectly aligns incentives to the "true believers" and where you know they will remain true believers or pay a heavy price.
