It's real but it's overstated. Feels weird talking about this stuff on /biz/ but around Thanksgiving I had an uncle in the ICU in New York City at a major hospital. I heard the nurses talking about how there was a strangely vicious viral pneumonia going around. The very next week, the whole ICU was on lockdown. Patients could not leave their rooms, everyone had on the mask, the doors to the ICU were shut and guarded and there were stands with hand sanitizer set up at the entrance.
This virus has been in the US since at the very least November and there's evidence out there that it might have been here since September. As for the spikes in deaths, many deaths were being blamed on COVID just because there was not enough testing early on and it was a way for hospitals to justify more spending. For instance in the insurance sector it's usually kind of complicated to get paid because of all the jew laws you have to navigate and you often hear about not being able to see X doctor because of insurance plans etc. Now? Forget about it, COVID WAIVER COVID WAIVER COVID WAIVER see whoever you like and they get paid. They're like us, not letting a crisis go to waste.
I know some people in the medical industry and they say this virus is real, but it's not the apocalypse and a lot of the fear is manufactured and gotten out of hand to the point where even the medical industries are fighting with each other over how real it is. But ultimately people are realizing it isn't the apocalypse and the desire to return to normalcy is outweighing their fears.

tl'dr it's not a conspiracy but not that bad and the panic is largely due to uncertainty and market incentives

Nah, you are not looking at the facts but trying to justify your own narrative.

1. Only few states report "suspected" deaths. You can see the number is faily low on those states who report it
2. Overall death rate is up 50% more than current corona cases explain, this is despite the fact that there is a fraction of accidents ect occuring.
3. You could try make a claim that states who have more cases receive more support, but there is no incentive for anyone to report more deaths than real
4. "Suspect" means there is clear evidence that corona was the reason, but the person did not die in a hospital environment

I'm torn on this.
There are also quite a lot of data that the number of deaths are being just as underreported as the number of cases.

Temporary. You fundamentals anons keep making the mistake of equating corona impact numbers to recession numbers. This is a unique situation and the market is trading on expected swift recovery. It may or may not be as swift as expected and market sentiment will adjust in future in that regard as needed.

this. job loss claims are mostly temporary. every bar and restaurant worker will likely go back to work and get bukubucks once bars and restaurants open again. employers laid them off so they can collect unemployment insurance because they've been working and paying into it.

we're going to have one bad quarter of data and then a uberpump so high my dick will produce its own viagra

DOW 40K in 2025

I was wrong with my DOW 27K end of April when we were at the bottom, but ~25K aint bad

This is a bit too bullish. We will see some of this, but lots of restaurants won't make it and new ones won't appear instaneously. Some won't get enough business to even open let alone full staff under social distancing restrictions.

>every bar and restaurant worker will likely go back to work
tons of restaurants will never open their doors again, and the idea that all their displaced staff will suddenly find new jobs because the lockdown is ended is asinine

wow that would explain why there are so many more deaths than usual
