SSO (DBPG for euroanons) is a 2x leveraged ETF based on the S&P 500 and it is one of the few leveraged ETFs that existed before the Great Financial Crisis of 2008. Had you bought SSO (DBPG) at the literal top of the market before the recession in October 2007, as of this moment, you would have gains of 176%. Had you bought the underlying SPY on the same day you would have gains of 98%. So had you bought the leveraged ETF, even at the worst possible time, you still would have ended up with almost double the gains.
Remember this the next time somebody throws shade on leveraged ETFs because of volatility decay. Buy the index based leveraged ETFs and win. Simple as that. And start buying now. Coronavirus could be as bad as the GFC and if you start buying in now with a little money and buy in more later as the prices drop you will still come out much better in the long run than buying SPY or worse doing nothing at all. I'm buying and I'll be here when this thing is over to brag about my gains. Do not be afraid. We will get through this and this is your opportunity. Join me and get rich.

You don't see the massive economical holes that not crashing and papering over every decade does. Look at how many duopolies there are. Look at how America is little more than the great service sector. How wages have stagnated and how debt has ballooned not only in the consumer segment, but the commercial segment as well.

Did you know post-2012 that revenue and growth has practically plateaued? But the stocks went up. On what basis? Buybacks programs founded on debt. And companies that couldn't afford them were drug up by index attachment. And companies that weren't attached to indexes were simply hoisted on positive influence.

Nobody wants it to be that bad, but frankly it has to be to restructure the economy in a manner that doesn't wholly favor corporations and Wall St. In a manner that favors the 321mm it represents. In a manner where politicians aren't poisoned by pittances. But JPow and D. Pump can throw out $1200 checks and put bread in the hands and circus on the TV and everyone is placated while irresponsible corporations (they're people) are given leeway.

Tech is exactly what's keeping s&p500 up. Oil WILL see a second drop if the index does (the only difference is it will recover faster than the index this time, while tech will stay down longer). Precisely because tech is so ridiculously overbought, it WILL fall. But that's no the only problem. Debt maturity for oil was supposed to happen in early 2021. Obviously they won't be able to pay up now. This will further kill oil when 2021 rolls around and every single oil company defaults.

I think one of the following situation must happen for this to become a real possibility:
- AMD is the uncontested king (reason: board of director needs constant growth, but there's not many other ways to generate artificial growth in this scenario)
- AMD flies and then starts freefalling (reason: as above but especially trying to stabilize and compete with intel, which DOES put backdoors in their CPUs).
Problem with duopolies is that eventually, they're just a monopoly operated by two partners painting their same product a different color each.

Lisa Su isn't a boardroom bimbo, but the notion that we're going to see the 500% revenue growth required to make the current PE (100) a reasonable 20 anytime within the next two decades is laughable. AMD caught the low-hanging fruit with Su's marketing, they made themselves some gamer fanboys with a nice brand, that was explosive growth, but each successive % market share becomes harder and harder to get, especially when dealing with a literal behemoth such as Intel that can smack them to the side on several fronts. Can they possibly steal what is essentially half of Intel's revenue without bringing anything extraordinarily revolutionary to the table? I don't think so. Marketing only goes so far, Intel has more capital, it will smack them to the side at the end of the day.

There is a place for AMD but it is as a mere complimentary offering, not a serious competitor, to Intel.

If people are willing to travel and enjoy themselves under a literal lockdown, they'll travel when it's open. The travel industry isn't going to be able to price gouge as much as they did before. It's far beyond double and the longer you carry it out the further the leveraged ETF outperforms the underlying. We're still in the Coronavirus dip which is the optimal time to go in on one of the types of products. Because of the daily rebalancing, as the market continues to rise the 3x ETF will exponentially outperform its underlying. Following up from the last thread, here's the past week's chart for SPX futures. Blue = open, yellow = close. While Friday and Monday were able to at least see +0.7% during market hours, the largest gains were made pre-market, including today so far. It's a little hard to see due to the markers, but every day except for Friday saw a drop going into the close, and our regular drop on open. That last part is most disconcerting given the volume that we see in the last 10 minutes and the decreasing daily volume we've seen the last two weeks. Same with the morning dumps. Memes aside, is there anything to read into here? The last three days saw, decent upside, but the regular EOD dumps and initial drop to -0.5% in futures seems cyclical at this point, and the same with the jump in futures around midnight. Retarded question, but which movement (pre-market or during market hours) is actually more reflective of market sentiment right now?

The real reason AMD is up is because of the continuous INTC fiascos. Not only is AMD not going down in the next iteration of INTC because anyway, INTC can't get their 7nm in order, INTC will not recover for at least one generation after the upcoming one and that's assuming they stop with the backdoors.

>>18730801
>stocks keep going up
we might see a Nikkei situation. We could also only post gains due to inflation. I'd rather just sit in gold or gold miners if this continues too much longer. There's a long term bullishness to the financial sector at the moment, but I have a strong feeling people are going to freak out over defaulted loans and the housing market. Right now is an ok buy, but I'm pretty sure Buffet-sama would be mildly displeased with me.
