Yeah I put 10% of my position into that one, way too much, but I saw it was undervalued compared to the pops that other oil stocks had last week, and so I figured this one was going to play catchup on Monday, and didn't want to miss the boat. Well, lesson learned. I was going to buy an extra 1-2% of my total portfolio to it to average down some since it'll most likely move back up a bit after, but the damn thing is halted for now.

Atleast my restaurant/hospitality stocks are up nicely.

Watch Brent futures contracts this week and early next week. Wait for the gap between [June/July] and [August/onward] to get as small as possible. That will be the bottom of whatever temporary dip the tankers have. Buy in at that time.

Earnings for tanker companies will start coming out next week and the week after. On the 19th, futures contracts will roll over. These stocks will gap upward afterhours, it will be hard to catch them in an upward trend. If you're not in by May 1 or so, you are going to miss the action. Risk - if some crazy shit happens and futures don't shit their pants again, tankers aren't going anywhere, they're currently trading at the top of what they make doing regular business, contango is the name of the game right now.

Do not buy oil stocks yet unless you plan to hold them for a long time. When it's time to dump your tankers, it'll be time to transition those gains to oil producers/refiners.

Sure. Guess why they were so high before? Oil was at an ATH previously before their massive shot up due to Iraq war, 100+ a barrel. Oil went into a super contango and went to 40-60 dollars a barrel (which is actually high nowadays kek). Due to that, oil companies used them as storage. Tankers fell because eventually demand and supply equalized meaning they transported more than stored, and there were so many new tanker companies that shipping supply was up meaning that everyone's profit margins went down as tanker demand did and they had to offer cheaper and cheaper rates to take on oil. Tankers tried to survive by carrying on loads of debt, which further sank their stock prices.

Well, guess what? We are in a similar situation if not better than what caused them to rise to their previous highs. The situation is the same except BETTER today, and the difference is there is more tanker competitors and higher debt than previously. I suppose another difference is one high was due to a war "calming down" and the new high is due to Saudis and Russians being assholes.

History is repeating itself mate.
