Most of the effort with rabbits is actually converting them to meat/skins/money. You can sell young male rabbits as pets, which is probably the best economic gain. Most places you cannot legally sell their meat, since you need a license to run a butchering operation, but you can butcher them for yourself and your family.
Skins require some effort to cure properly but is nice quality, probably some nice economic gains possible there.
If you have rabbits you are pretty much required to grow vegetables, their poop is perfect fertilizer, as is the offal from butchering them.
