We've now gone on 11 years where employers have been saving money because their hasn't been an increase in minimum wage. Isn't that more than enough? How many more years should we give them? 5? 10? 25? Permanently set at $7.25 so when 2050 rolls around you can work 60 hours to pay for a loaf a bread?

honestly, it has to go up sometime. you don't expect the minimum wage of $1 from 1960 to still be in effect, so why should the $7.25 from 2009 still be around? I managed a dog boarding facility. We had 75 individual enclosures so to be fair it would be pretty hectic during the summer, but 9 months out of the year I would sit on my ass and do nothing while delegating to the other 6 employees beneath me.

It basically all depends on where you're living. If you're attempting to live in a one bedroom apartment in a big city and only have a job at mcdonalds you're fucking up. I think the issue is that it's a low skill job and life isn't fair. I understand 40 hours a week isn't a small amount but if you literally don't try to do anything else you're not going to make much money, which means living in your means is takes an incredible amount of self control for people.

Also I think the issue is that people think we're more destitute than ever? The United States is literally the least poverty stricken and wealthiest country in history.

Also the "living paycheck to paycheck" statistic has less to do with making and more with spending. I've met plenty of people that make $60,000 a year and are living paycheck to paycheck.
