Quick question, would you prefer a mint tube of 10 batbois or 10 individual batbois each in their own capsule? Individual is slightly more expensive but you can safely play with them all. Mint tube is cheaper but if you resell for mad gainz later on you will need to buy capsules if you dont sell the whole tube at once.

Ah your in luck, there is fine flour gold scattered all over the place in small creeks near the Haile gold mine owned by Oceanagold corp. Look for a rich, red oxide layer sitting on clay in creeks. it seems gold is well known to occur in this layer as well as some gem stones like sapphires.

Note, the gold in your area will be a rich almost brown color, its due actually to a strange crystal texture on the particles, which are very pure naturally.

There are also high grade gold quartz veins found hosted in nearby outcrops, but i must read more up on them to understand what the fucks going on there geologically.

Not nearly enough to get rich, certainly, I think he barely broke even, but it's still interesting.

Thank you very much kind sir. I will excitedly seek the red layer on top of clay full of dark flower gold flakes. This is very helpful. Our soil distribution here is crazy. its going to be on a layer of clay about 2 ft from the surface, and the clay its resting on is going to be super tough to dig, almost like cement. the gold particles cant pass through it, so it rests on top. You will also likely run into insane amounts of magnetite too.

One of these days their going to fuck up and get royally screwed by some legal case and take their investors money with them. It would be a far safer investment to go with First Majestic than with Barrick at the moment. I would also suggest the small company Engineer gold mines as an option, I suspect they will get bought out soon by a larger firm, they have an excellent resource and all their permitting in place. any strayans know about Kalgoorlie:

In the winter of 1893, prospectors Patrick (Paddy) Hannan, Tom Flanagan, and Dan Shea were travelling to Mount Youle, when one of their horses cast a shoe. During the halt in their journey, the men noticed signs of gold in the area around the foot of what is now the Mount Charlotte gold mine, located on a small hill north of the current city, and decided to stay and investigate. On 17 June 1893, Hannan filed a Reward Claim, leading to hundreds of men swarming to the area in search of gold, and Kalgoorlie, originally called Hannan's Find, was born.[5]

Hannan Street in September 1930: The Exchange Hotel is at the centre, with the Palace Hotel on the right.
The population of the town was 2,018 (1,516 males and 502 females) in 1898.[6]

The mining of gold, along with other metals such as nickel, has been a major industry in Kalgoorlie ever since, and today employs about one-quarter of Kalgoorlie's workforce and generates a significant proportion of its income. The concentrated area of large gold mines surrounding the original Hannan's find is often referred to as the Golden Mile, and was sometimes referred to as the world's richest square mile of earth.

I don't know why it took me so long to take the redpill on money. Until as late as last year, I had heard about but really thought of all that stuff about the Federal Reserve, fractional banking fiat currency and so on as sort of an interesting but ultimately fringe conspiracy theory.

It has to be the biggest conspiracy hiding in plain sight. Most people are so brainwashed by the idea that money has value even while inflation eats it all away that they blame themselves for not saving enough of it, even while they have no incentive not to. PMs are basically the only practical escape hatch from this bullshit.

It's crazy to think that just a few hundred years ago, Jews were literally strangled or thrown down wells for merely CLIPPING coins that were still chock-full of real precious metals, and that after the Civil War there was massive public controversy over even the wartime expediency of having issued banknotes not immediately redeemable for gold.

And today, bankers can not only issue fiat currency backed by nothing, but openly inflate its value away. And they've successfully brainwashed people into thinking that to protest this less still do anything about it is for the tinfoil hat brigade.

If we all simultaneously decided we'd had enough, we COULD start using gold and silver to buy and sell. If enough of us sold our dollars and bought PMs at once, we could break the Fed but that is unlikely to ever happen. Because it's above all a mental prison. As long as the prisoners believe the bars are real, they might as well be.

To be clear I don't think we're ever actually going to go back to a gold standard, but nontheless I think more people are going to start looking at alternative forms of wealth preservation that isn't dependent on a central bank or treasury.

can someone explain to a Panlet like me how big nuggets end up "just sticking out of the ground"? meanwhile, tons of effort is required to dig ore. are these basically rare 1-in-a-billion lottery tickets? i always thought gold had to be extracted. even panning takes hours and you get small grains. i can understand how small nuggets get washed out and end up in streams. but how does erosion over time drive a piece of gold to end up in a shallow point in the dirt. makes no sense. the earth seems conveniently filled with metals that we need or find valuable. almost like we live in a simulation.

you would need to live in a small community that is sizable enough for each person to do something valuable so that goods and services are exchanged through PMs, and everyone trusts each other not to rob of defile the community currency. for example, you are a blacksmith and your neighbor is a dairy farmer. through blacksmithing you make great farm tools. the dairy farmer sells his milk for a few mercury dimes. when he needs new tools for his farm he exchanges the merc dimes for your tools. you exchange the merc dimes for his milk, etc. etc.

i heard here in /pmg/ that at every gun show you can probably find someone who accepts silver as payment for guns. it's all about community. and that starts with sharing info. the idea that PMs are illiquid is part of the psyop and the disinfo. keep in mind even if you establish a small community you'll still be infiltrated or harassed by the F*ds, just look at waco and ruby ridge as prime examples.

russia also has a ton of nat gas so they aren't technically afraid of low oil prices, they earn a living through nat gas. the real fag here is the saudis as usual. with less ISIS/ISIL fake shit in the mideast, compounded by the holocough hoax, of course oil went down. it's all easy to connect the dots looking back but it makes sense.

Started buying metals a few years ago. When Covid happened it looked like I was going to be laid off... had no money saved and sold 50 ounces of silver and 0.25 ounces of gold at the bottom-- got 850 for the lot.

Lesson learned: do not buy metals until you have a decent sized cash savings built up. I did not want to sell at 13 and ounce but life circumstances forced me to.

You won't be able to sell at an optimal time without savings! You will end up selling when life comes at you-- when you lose a job, you blow a head gasket or you have a medical emergency.

The frostybois probably will have some collector's value.

But on the whole honestly the bat coins are just a meme, if anyone needed to have it spelled out for them partially ruining the joke in the process. Don't get me wrong, I like it too, and will be buying one while stocks last, but don't expect to make a fortune by flipping them for no particular reason.

Batbois are amusing, a meme and protect your stack. That's all. They do have 5oz of silver in them of course which represents a melt value of at least $75, but tl;dr if you buy them for the money you're doing it wrong.

I like my coins to look... nice. The best coins to collect specially or give as gifts to others have to be coins like this Indian silver rupee.

If silver really moons rapidly (which I wouldn't bet on, honestly) a small stack will be enough to make it.

Suppose silver went to just $80/oz, for example (something that is almost certain NOT to happen without a massive currency crisis). That would be enough to make a 100oz stack worth $8,000. And again, this would almost certainly only happen in a situation where the economy was totally devastated, in which case PM savings would stretch very far indeed.

On the other hand, if silver stays relatively cheap i.e. under $50 an ounce, that's cheap enough that we all can keep stacking slowly and steadily without doing anything reckless in the process.

So it's probably all good.

In places like australia, gold nuggets basically "grow" in the rock. Gold ore deposits formed deep underground, usually in reefs of quartz or as secondary enrichment zones, the rock is brought close to the surface through tectonics, and water flows into cracks, weathering the ores. The water picks up sulfur and becomes acidic, dissolving the bonds between things like pyrite and the gold particles it holds. These particles flow down deeper with the water until they either find a place they cant pass further, or bond with more gold particles and start the process of growing into a nugget. The earth keeps eroding and eventually a nugget weathers out.

This process happens all over the place but australia's geology and high temperatures is perfect for nugget growth. It also happens in creeks, but at a much smaller scale.

Hi /pmg/, ausfag stacklet here

I’m really tempted to start moving into gold more because of its higher value, but as a casual worker currently not getting many hours and also paying for uni upfront to avoid the debt I don’t have as much to spend as a regular person might. I’m trying to decide whether I keep buying silver because of the much lower prices and the fact that I can buy larger quantities of it or instead spend that money buying smaller amounts of gold over slightly larger periods of time. I’m mainly in it for wealth preservation, but I wouldn’t mind being able to make some money on top of what I’m putting into precious metals. What do you guys recommend?

Ideally you should look at the gold and silver ratio. If the ratio is high, where it takes a lot of silver to get gold, buy the silver then when the ratio is low, where it takes less silver to get gold, sell the silver and use the money to buy gold. Gold and silver are fine to store and protect your wealth but gold is better for that and silver is more of its potential to go up in price, but also down. So lots of chances to buy low sell high.

Right now I think most people would say buy silver since the ratio is 113 oz of silver to 1 oz gold.

Gold is likely to rise a lot sooner than silver but when gold shines silver reflects and silver always follows just slower. 2008 is a good indicator with the recession, dropped to $8 then spiked to $50 for a short while couple years later. And it was a just a minor recession. Now we have a global butt fuck of the economy and shut down of mints and mines and printing of money and global pandemic and paper faggots selling their silver and gold IOU's for physical which does not exist to supply all the paper goys who fell for buying paper saying they own gold and silver instead of actually buying the physical gold and silver kek

nuggets do, I sell mine off to a set of dealers in Vancouver who make very nice jewellery out of them, but many also just get sold as is to collectors. the average premium on nuggets is going up too, it used to be only %15 over gold price, now its almost %20 due to demand.

How is it an untruth? that is the first real discovery of gold in North / South Carolina, all you need to do is look at the records. I do agree that there are a lot of different total bullshit stories from those times out there, but a lot of guys really did just get lucky like that. The discovery of Toad mountain at Nelson for example. One of the greatest silver camps in Canada was discovered by guys who had no idea what they were doing, they got lucky with a toad sunning its self on some galena.

to add to that,
It was newspaper writers' way of saying the ore is so rich there people.livestock/gare are literally tripping on it and the locals are so dumb they don't recognize it. A perfect way to start a gold rush.

almost every mining town in America has a similar story, all of them presumably lies or exaggerations. My favorite variant is "he was stalking a deer and when he got close the deer bolted, and in its footprint he found a fist sized nugget of gold." Ridiculous, and the reader probably knew better, but since newspapers were often the only record we have of how a location was made it turns up on Wikipedia and in books. Wise authors know it's bullshit and more than a couple historians have done treatises on exactly that subject. Actual prospecting didn't generally involve livestock/game/children finding rich locations.

When I was a child, I think it was in the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest gold nugget ever found. I believe they named the nugget the "Welcome Stranger." It weighed something like 80 pounds and was found when a wagon wheel (horse-drawn wagons!) turned the nugget out from the dirt.

80 pounds is a bit over three good delivery bars, about $2M.

to each their own buddy, but more than one mine has been discovered totally by accident that way. Ore really does sometimes just pop up out of the ground in outcrops. I do agree I ve come across a lot of bullshit through my reading, but chance is a strange with some people.

Also, a lot of these guys didnt want to start a rush, most guys tried to keep their finds quiet for as long as possible so they could get the best claims, but that never really works.

>i do trust Pan Man's expertise in saying that gold can end up in shallow dirt.
he's absolutely right about that.

gold is heavy so in a river it gets moved around and invariably sinks as low as it can.

but on land the opposite happens. Rain washes away the lighter dirt leaving the gold concentrated at or near the surface.

but prospectors knew this sort of trivia even in the 1500's, probably long before. And the idea that pilgrims and conquistadores that traveled to the continent solely to hunt gold wouldn't recognize it when they found it is a stretch.

One very good example of what your talking about is the Lost Slumach Mine near Pitt Lake BC. The news papers totally lied through their teeth about the guy finding gold nuggets, he was finding ore and bringing it back for processing. The news papers said he would take beautiful women out with him than kill them when he was done with them as well, never happened.

I don't know. I was a kid reading through the Guinness book and didn't follow up on the story. I wouldn't be surprised if there were more huge nuggets in the vicinity of the Welcome Stranger. However, I'd be very surprised if a huge nugget was found recently in the same area. A 20 pound nugget is worth about $500,000 just in melt value.

Panning for gold is hard work as is modern day mining. It boggles the mind that a 20 pound nugget was just sitting there for the taking in an area where a super-sized nugget was once found.

I've got at least 2 mines supposedly found by deer in my town in Colorado.

Those stories also produced a shitload of lost mine tales as the reclusive prospector's riches became exaggerated over time and when the loner invariably died alone a hunt for their incredibly valuable mine ensued. Nothing was usually found because the mine was almost never as rich as the searchers expected it to be so they overlooked it.

you get bonus points if your reclusive miner retired to the east with his lovely daughter and died in boston or NY or Chicago, never revealing the location of his fabulous wealth.

Mining has its tropes and memes, repeated over and over throughout early history. Sometimes they're probably even true. But not usually.

the ground the welcome stranger and its sister were found in is insanely hard to metal detect in, its super rich in heavy metals, meaning only skilled detectorists with $2000 detectors can properly work the area. The second piece was also 5ft from the surface, well out of range of weaker detectors.

>reclusive miner travels off into Halfmoon Gulch every spring.
>Every fall returns to town to sell mule loads of almost pure gold
>Locals try to track him
>nobody ever does
>eventually miner doesn't return one spring
>Intense search begins for his gold
>nobody ever finds it
>10 years later huge gold strike up Halfmoon Gulch
>still one of the richest gold mines in the county to this day
>Nobody associates this new strike with the old prospector
>old man was forgotten by then
only recently have historians put the two tales together, finally realizing that the Champion Mine at the top of the gulch was almost certainly the same as the lost mine of the same location.

It can happen. But usually it probably didn't.

same problem on the Champion mine, they initially found something like 8 ledges and outcroppings on the same mountainside, so before an ounce of gold was mined the several locators had to go to court to decide who owned the thing.

according to newspaper accounts of the time there was evidence that at least 5 of those 8 had been discovered and worked in the past even though nobody had ever filed a legal claim on them.

seems like the sort of problem that could be quickly resolved with a portable core drill though. Lost mines are weird that way. Most of us that search for them are too lazy or too broke to do the actual work needed to systematically try to find them.

>> No.18684364

A big issue with a lot of these lost mines is they were only a super crazy rich outcrop that didn't go to depth. Poplar creek for example in the slocan district had gold ore running 30 ounces to the tonne but it never ran deeper than 4 or 5 ft from the surface and only a few ft long in most cases.

yeah when I was younger I used to research old bonanza rich gold strikes that were quickly worked out and then hunt the valleys and moraines below them on the theory that it was a large ore body that had mostly been eroded away. I almost never found anything of value.

later I learned that the richest gold mines were usually hydrothermal supergene that was deposited in a very narrow zone of expansion and cooling, and that zone didn't go deep into the mountain because the fault delivering the pregnant solution usually shifted and cut off the water. Again work with a core drill has resulted in a couple of those strikes re-opening over the years as small amounts of deeper ore are found, but that's not typical. A lot of rich gold was just in tiny deposits and nothing can be done about it.

And I am still convinced there are amazing discoveries out there yet to be made people just don't look anymore.

>people just don't look anymore.
not people so much.

but where I live in Leadville a couple years back a local metal detectorist found a nugget worth a few thousand dollars on an old gold mine waste pile. So within a month there was about 50 guys up there with detectors systematically turning over the pile and finding gold. They moved a few hundred yards of dirt and by my best estimate based on ebay sales, found about $100,000 in good wire gold nuggets before the property owner and the sheriff took notice.

That same summer I saw brand new pickup trucks with mining company names on them driving around the mining district, and guys in SUITS out there digging buckets of dirt off the old mine dumps. It was the funniest thing I've ever seen up there.

some people look, but most of us don't have relatively virgin ground to search like you do. In Colorado at least every inch of the ground has been thoroughly explored by thousands of people and hundreds of corporations.

I'm sure they missed stuff, and we still have new gold mines pop up every decade, but it's not like the wilderness where you hunt.

Ah you see that's still very accurate around my neck of the woods but for the most part most places really haven't been properly looked around again since the 1940s. You are right though, almost all the good ground is claimed up and owned by companies but no one is skowering the mountains like they did in the turn of the century.

I think that's great though that at least someone found something good in a waste dump other than me.

There's a haul road up to the base of the cliffs and slope. I was just going to drive a rented dump truck up there and get a few of my family to help me pick, sack, and toss highgrade ore into it. Then take a backhoe up and run the entire dump off to the mills.

It would've paid better than most jobs I figure, but the guy really likes his gold where it's at. So I give him the courtesy of not stealing any more gold and not telling people where it is. It's in a popular spot though, dozens of hikers a day go there without ever knowing what they're walking on.

>> No.18685182

and you're right about the size of the ore

the tram cars were really small so they had a jaws crusher clear up on the cliff where they'd crush and sort the ore before it went in the cars. Things were so small only one man could ride the tram up at a time, and even then they looked to be in constant danger of falling out.
