How do into investing/trading stocks?
I'm not looking to go into it full-time as a broker or anything, but I like the idea of taking a small portion out of paychecks, putting it in a fund to accumulate, then investing it in a stock to see how it does. If I lose it, it won't kill me, but it's a gamble that could yield right?

My first obstacle was how to actually do it, as I don't want to pay a broker ( I want to do it myself if possible), and I didn't know which online service would be best to use to do this sort of thing. Etrade seems decent, though the min balance for an account is steep, and I just found out about loyal3 and they appear to only have a $10 fee for investing, anybody know if that's any good?

Or am I naive and not understanding why this won't work for me

I personally use howthemarketworks.com and have learned a lot planning on investing as soon as I can with TFSAs

I get that I should learn how the market works, and the wise do's and don'ts, but I'm mainly talking about which platform is the easiest/best to do what I want to do in the OP

Just sign up at http://www.robinhood.com
They don't charge you anything and there is no minimum account balance.

For learning I recommend http://www.tradimo.com..
