Then the US oil production ability will be lessened, and and the price of oil can rise more than it normally would. Normally, us oil companies start pumping more as the price rises, which hurts saud and Russia’s profitability.

ETFs can be liquidated if they fuck up. Negative oil prices would probably cause USO to be liquidated. If it liquidates, all assets are cashed out and all cash is payed out to shareholders. So you take a huge forced loss at the bottom.

ive had those calls since February bought right at the first drop thinking I was gonna be slick and get a quick sale. The puts are because I want to buy more SOXL but I want to get them much lower. Way I see it is if it goes down, I get assigned at the prices I want, if it crabs or goes up I collect free premium. Every month I will reup the puts until I eventually get assigned and so far I've made a few thousand so why not. I definitely don't see myself as some great trader, just some dude making the best out of a shit situation as it goes. That said somehow I've managed to be in profit as I've netted quite a few thousands since the drop started in February. Hopefully my luck holds out

Thing is, the May 2020 oil future contract is expiring on April 21 aka tomorrow, which is trading at 14.xx USD now, while the next contract is the June 2020 ine that's trading at 23.xx USD. So i you brought USO in.the last month at for example 25 USD, it dropped to 14 now you lost 44%, in order to regain this 44% lost the oil futur must rise from the next future price of 23USD to 23×1.44=33USD to breakeven, assuming the oil price for this and next month contracts stay at this price and USO is rollovering now
