Americans have to pay income taxes to the US government even if they don't live in the US

>> No.18445121

As an American, you can live and work all around the world on military bases as a civilian or contractor with tax-free status, while also enjoying the local host nations without paying their outrageous taxes. Not to mention making 3x, sometimes 10x, the average salary of those local nationals. Great way to take advantage of cheap cost of living and at the same time not have to put up with the misery of living in the USA.

Can't think of another citizenship with that level of basedness. Must suck to not own 1/3rd of the world I guess.

That's how it works in most countries, but usually you don't have to pay, you just have to repoert how much you made how much taxes you paid in that other country and that's it.

Look up tax residency rules. usually you need to spend a certain amount of time outside your country and not have your 'center of life and personal interests' there to not be ogligated to report your earnings from other countries

people always like to make fun of eachother here telling others how fiscally cucked they are but most countries have very similar rules, especially when it comes to ta agencies/banking, etc fiscally it's been basicly globalization for many years now

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Only the US expects taxes from US citizens living outside of the country, no matter how long they do that for.

The only way you get out of that is by renouncing US citizenship, which costs $2300 and isn't an easy process either.

Land of the free.

most countries have treaties with each other to avoid dual taxation. you only need to report income in the country you're residing in the given tax year.

so you want to tell me that if you work let's say in germany and paid your taxes there then you have to pay taxes again in america basicly paying twice us much in total?
